there were teams other than the Giants willing to take Daniel Jones in the top half of the first round. But there was apparently one team interested in seeing if he could play another position Daniel Jones Jersey Boys , since they didn’t think he was a quarterback at all.According to Manish Mehta of the , at least one team asked Jones if he was willing to work out as a tight end, since they didn’t think he was good enough to play quarterback.Of course, it’s not unheard of for there to be an outlier among teams’ evaluations. Last year, Lamar Jackson was asked about the possibility of playing wide receiver, and he went in the first round and the Ravens seem pleased with the decision. There were 41 players asked to work at different positions at the Scouting Combine, usually defensive linemen as linebackers or other such similar positions. It’s a moot point now, as the Giants used the sixth pick in the draft to take the guy they definitely want to play quarterback, sooner or later.Fantasy Football: Last-minute start/sit for Week 4 Somehow it’s already Week 4 in the NFL (weird) and byes have already started (weirder). For fantasy players that starts to shorten the pool of available players and can sometimes put a little more pressure on start/sit decisions. Well, luckily we’re here to help ... hopefully. Running backStart: Chris Carson, Seattle SeahawksSeattle took a running back in the first round, yet the Seahawks have not let that stop Chris Carson from reigning as the No. 1 back. Carson has outcarried Rashaad Penny 45-20 and outsnapped him 49.5 percent to 28.7 percent on the season. That was a 32-3 and 74 percent to 14 percent advantage last week against the Cowboys. The Seahawks want to run the ball and they’re playing the Cardinals, who have allowed the most fantasy points per game to opposing running backs.Start: Phillip Lindsay, Denver BroncosRoyce Freeman has a 36-33 rushing attempt over Lindsay this season Color Rush George Asafo-Adjei Jersey , but that’s partly because Lindsay was ejected after just four rushing attempts this past week for throwing a punch. Still, Freeman only got 13 carries on the day. Lindsay has been the Broncos’ top back and per Next Gen Stats, he’s been the most “efficient” runner in the league with just 2.73 yards run per positive yard gained. The Broncos might find themselves in a shootout with the Kansas City Chiefs — Devontae Booker is the team’s top receiving back — but the Chiefs are also giving up the second-most fantasy points per game to running backs.Sit: Peyton Barber, Tampa Bay BuccaneersBarber is Tampa Bay’s top back, but his production hasn’t really supported that role. He has just 124 yards on 43 carries and has only four targets and one reception for seven yards in the passing game. Barber and the Buccaneers are playing the Chicago Bears who have allowed the second-fewest fantasy points per game to running backs and have faced the fifth-fewest rushing attempts through three weeks.Sit: Dion Lewis, Tennessee TitansThis year was supposed to be different. The Titans were going to run an NFL offense and the signing of Dion Lewis was a key. But Marcus Mariota has been hurt and the offense really hasn’t taken off. Lewis hasn’t had more than five receptions in a game this season and that came in Week 1 and he only has 193 yards from scrimmage. Now Tennessee will face the Eagles, who are second in DVOA against the run, 10th against running backs in the passing game, and have allowed the fewest fantasy points per game to running backs so far. Wide receiverStart: Mike Williams, Los Angeles ChargersMike Williams is finding his place in the Chargers offense. He’s the No. 2 wide receiver — third in targets behind Keenan Allen and Melvin Gordon. Allen has yet to practice this week, which could even increase Williams’s role. The San Francisco 49ers are likely to be without Richard Sherman and have struggled to find a second corner to play across from him. The Chargers haven’t gotten the attention of the Chiefs, Buccaneers, or Rams, but through three weeks they lead the league in percentage of offensive plays that have gained 20 or more yards. Williams has a team-leading 17.2 yards per reception.Start: Tyler Boyd Youth George Asafo-Adjei Jersey , Cincinnati BengalsBoyd has unquestionably taken over as the Bengals’ No. 2 receiver. He’s second in targets, receptions, and touchdowns — all behind A.J. Green. He also has six receptions and a touchdown in each of the past two games. Cincinnati has been the seventh-most pass-heavy team this season and will be facing a Falcons defense that has struggled to stop the pass. Atlanta is 23rd against opposing No. 2 receivers. Sit: Amari Cooper, Oakland RaidersIn three games, Cooper has seen three, 10, and five targets. He’s had one, 10, and two receptions. He’s being out-targeted by Jared Cook and has the same number of targets as Jalen Richard. That production probably isn’t going to get much better against a Browns teams that has shut down opposing wide receivers. Cleveland is no worse than eighth in DVOA defending against all positions in the passing game except for running back, where the Browns are 31st. Sit: Corey Davis, Tennessee TitansEverything about Corey Davis screams production, except for the actual production. He has a 30 percent target share (ninth-highest in the league), has gotten half of Tennessee red zone targets, and has the third-highest rate of his team’s air yards. But all of that has led to 13 receptions Womens George Asafo-Adjei Jersey , 151 yards, and no touchdowns. A productive game should be coming eventually, but if you have better options, you might be better off waiting for it with him on your bench.Tight endStart: Trey Burton, Chicago BearsYou probably had higher hopes if you drafted Trey Burton. He’s been around TE16 for the season, which is streamable territory. But this week could be the week Burton and the Bears offense gets on track. Chicago is playing Tampa Bay, a team with linebackers who struggle in coverage. The Buccaneers are 25th in DVOA against tight ends and have allowed the second-most fantasy points per game to tight ends. This, hopefully, is the Burton week you’ve been waiting for.Sit: George Kittle, San Francisco 49ersThis pains me because I’m a big fan of George Kittle’s game, but everything is working against him this week. He has C.J. Beathard at quarterback and will face a Chargers defense that is second in DVOA against tight ends and has allowed an average of 29 yards to tight ends and the third-fewest fantasy points per game.

“impressive improvement” to play tomorrow The New England Patriots will face one of the best defenses in the NFL tomorrow. However Derek Rivers Jersey , the team’s offense enters its game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with some personnel questions: running backs Rex Burkhead (concussion) and Sony Michel (knee) were both limited all week in practice and appear to be game-time decisions heading into the rematch of last year’s AFC Championship Game.Furthermore, there is a realistic chance that starting right tackle Marcus Cannon misses the contest (via The Atheltic’s Jeff Howe):Cannon did not play when the Patriots met the Jaguars in January due to a season-ending ankle issue Womens Cordarrelle Patterson Jersey , and it looks as if his latest ailment – a calf injury – could keep him out of Sunday’s game as well. 2018 Week 2 Patriots Power Rankings Anyone else feel a bit of the usual sting was taken out of that loss with the trade for Josh Gordon?I like to think of it as Belichick’s way of giving the fans a little something to cheer us up. Even if Gordon doesn’t live up to his potential here - and I believe he will Duron Harmon Jersey , I appreciate the effort. My guess is that Tom Brady also approves, and now that I think about it, Chris Hogan and Phillip Dorsett might be feeling a little freer than they did last week too. Seems to be more roster moving and shaking than usual, but it’s all good. Patriots are 1-1 and in the same position as last year, heading into Week 3 at Detroit. To add a little 2009-like twist to Sunday’s matchup, the Patriots will be facing its former defensive coordinator Matt Patricia, who knows the team better than any other head coach. The flip side is that the Patriots know how Patricia thinks - and New England doesn’t often lose two games in a row - so my money is on the Patriots to take this one by two scores.Patricia’s Lions need a win, but they’ll have to wait another week.GO PATS!Around the AFC East:New England (1-1) at Detroit (0-2)Miami (2-0) vs. Oakland (0-2)NY Jets (1-1) at Cleveland (0-1-1)Buffalo (0-2) at Minnesota (1-0-1)AFC Matchups:Cincinnati (2-0) at Carolina (1-1)Jacksonville (2-0) vs. Tennessee (1-1)Kansas City (2-0) vs. San Francisco (1-1)Denver (2-0) at Baltimore (1-1)LA Chargers (1-1) at LA Rams (2-0)Indianapolis (1-1) at Philadelphia (1-1)Pittsburgh (0-1-1) at Tampa Bay (2-0)Houston (0-2) vs. NY Giants (0-2)*****************************************3rd - Peter Hailey (NBC Sports Washington): Why they’re here: Going into Jacksonville and leaving with a W has all of the sudden become a very difficult task in today’s league, so the Pats don’t fall too much after their first loss. Now the attention turns to the Josh Gordon experiment. Can he give Tom Brady the exceptional outside threat this offense badly needs?4th - Experts (ESPN): The Patriots are 1-1 for the third time in the past five seasons. Each of the previous two times they started 1-1 (2014 and 2017), they reached the Super Bowl. And while the Patriots are thin at wide receiver, Tom Brady is 12-for-14 while targeting Phillip Dorsett, more completions than Brady had to Dorsett all of last year (11-for-16 in 2017).4th - Matthew Foreman (GridironExperts): Within 24 hours of a humbling loss in Jacksonville, the Patriots added mega-talent Josh Gordon to their receiving corps for next to nothing. Belichick and Co. will make adjustments and bounce back, like they always do. On to Detroit.5th - Christopher Price (BostonSportsJournal): Great question in our weekly Patriots’ Q&A — is there a single guy on the New England defense who would start ahead of someone on the Jacksonville D? Other than (maybe) Devin McCourty Womens Tedy Bruschi Jersey , I can’t think of one.5th - MMQB Staff (SI): We have a new No. 1 this week after the Jaguars beat the Patriots in rematch of last season’s AFC Championship Game.5th - Vinnie Iyer (Sporting News): The Patriots drifted by the Texans in Week 1 before getting throttled by the Jaguars in Week 2, their typical, early-season loss that resets their focus. They have a lot more defensive work to do.5th - Frank Schwab (Yahoo! Sports): Will the Josh Gordon trade work out? Probably not. Gordon is unreliable, and he faces a steep challenge mastering a Patriots offense that has chewed up other receivers. But the Patriots gave up practically nothing to find out. I mentioned Dallas before, but there are a bunch of teams that should have taken that low-cost gamble.5th - Joe Giglio (NJ.com): Josh Gordon is more likely to be cut by the end of the season than turn into Randy Moss 2.0 for the Patriots.5th - Staff (Bleacher Report): Here’s a sentence you don’t see all that often. The New England Patriots just got their butts kicked. Now, an 11-point loss might not appear to qualify as a keister-kicking, but the game wasn’t a close as the final score indicates. The Jaguars raced out to an early lead before the Patriots knew what hit them. And New England never got within 11 in the second half. The Patriots were outgained by a jaw-dropping margin of 481-302, as Blake Bortles had his way with the New England secondary. And it’s that defense that’s of particular concern...5th - Staff (AP Pro32).6th - Elliot Harrison (NFL.com): Maybe there is something about the Patriots playing in Florida. Even in the Belichick-Brady era, New England has fallen to the Dolphins plenty in Miami. And the Pats were no match for the Jags in Jacksonville this past weekend. In fact, they were outmatched, particularly when it came to the receiving corps vs. that Jags secondary. While this was certainly not a devastating loss, there was no doubt about which squad was the better one out on that field. Considering Jacksonville was playing without its top offensive player (Leonard Fournette), that speaks loudly. The Patriots will get their own special player back soon when Julian Edelman returns from suspension, but I’m not sure that will be the difference if these two meet in the AFC Championship Game again ... in Duval County. Although I did hear some guy who’s mildly athletic might be joining the fellas soon.6th - Justin Leger (TheLedgeSports): Surely http://www.patriotslockerroom.com/authentic-lawrence-guy-jersey , the Patriots will work their way back up the board sooner rather than later. They have a thing for losses early in the season. No need to panic, they’ll be just fine.6th - Rebecca Toback (SB Nation): The Patriots and Eagles fell in this week’s rankings, though not too far. The Eagles can look forward to Carson Wentz’s return on Sunday, which should offer a big boost to the team. And, the Patriots can look forward to ... Josh Gordon? Bill Belichick will surely get his team back into the win column when facing off against the Lions and former Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia on Sunday Night Football. At least, you’d have to think that’s the case after seeing Detroit go 0-2 to start the season with an ugly loss to the Jets and a close defeat at the hands of the 49ers.7th - Mark Maske (Washington Post): The trade for Josh Gordon continues the Patriots’ desperate search for help at WR. The loss in Jacksonville was fairly predictable. Get ready for the end-is-near talk about the New England dynasty. Meanwhile, just know the likelihood remains that Coach Bill Belichick and QB Tom Brady will have the Patriots right back among the league’s final teams left standing at season’s end, no matter how things look in September.7th - Pete Prisco (CBS Sports): Their defense made Blake Bortles look like Tom Brady. They have issues on that side of the ball.8th - Nate Davis (USA Today): Be interesting to see how much patience, effort they’re willing to invest in Josh Gordon. This should help make them more explosive if he remembers how to play, is in shape, and keeps his nose clean (I swear no pun intended). The Patriots are still a scary team, but have we finally begun to see the demise? I’m not sticking a fork in them. They’re never out of a game as they just proved, and they are always impeccably coached. This team still has talent and will compete in games Andre Tippett Jersey , and a lot of the time, that’s enough to win a ton of games. I’m not freaking out about a 1-1 record, and neither should anyone else. Now if they keep slipping, well, lets see it first before we go predicting those kind of things.9th - David Fucillo (NinersNation). /Up from 11th last week.2018 Patriots roster tracker: New England loses four players, including cornerback Cyrus Jones The NFL’s waiver pickup deadline has come and gone and there have been multiple moves: the New England Patriots themselves picked up a pair of wide receivers and saw three of their own players get claimed. Furthermore a fourth player was lost despite making it through waivers unselected. Ergo, the following four men are no longer with the Patriots:All four players were eligible to return to New England via the practice squad but none of them will be back. The biggest name on the list is undoubtably Jones: the former second-round draft pick, who spent all of 2017 on injured reserve, was unable to earn a backup spot at cornerback thanks to the emergence of JC Jackson and Keion Crossen and was subsequently released. A bit surprisingly, he went unclaimed through the waiver wire and then opted to join his hometown team over the Patriots.

It would therefore not be a surprise to see the Patriots try to help Waddle with an additional blocker – think tight end Dwayne Allen – at times tomorrow.Injury update: Patriots first-round rookie Isaiah Wynn tears Achilles, will be out for the season While the New England Patriots played a very strong second preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles yesterday Womens Duke Dawson Jersey , the team also saw one of its first-round draft picks go down with an injury: late in the second quarter, offensive lineman Isaiah Wynn limped off the field after apparently injuring his ankle.According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter http://www.patriotslockerroom.com/authentic-trent-brown-jersey , the rookie’s injury is a serious one:Wynn tearing his Achilles is a confirmation of what was feared yesterday after the 23rd overall selection of this year’s draft limped off the field and was carted to the locker room. The injury is obviously a big blow to the player and the team: the 21-year old was seeing more snaps as a right tackle as of late and was a candidate to serve as the top backup offensive lineman this season.

The New York Jets will be at home in East Rutherford Chandler Catanzaro Jersey , New Jersey today to face the Denver Broncos. The game starts at 1:00 pm EDT.The weather in East Rutherford will be warm and muggy. Skies will be mostly cloudy. Winds will be out of the west southwest at around 5 mph throughout the game. Temperatures will begin the game in the high 70s and rise into the low 80ss. Humidity will be very uncomfortable, in the mid 70s, making it feel like temperatures are in the upper 80s on the field. This will be uncomfortable weather for the players on the field. Dehydration and cramps will be risks for the players in today’s game. There will be a near 0% chance of showers throughout the game. For those watching the game at home, conditions will be comfortable, with steady temperatures in the low 70s, low humidity, no wind to speak of and no chance of showers.Enjoy the game everybody. To say the Jets , Raiders and Bucs have quit would be hyperbole. To say their fans are ready to quit watching them would be more accurate. There was little to nothing worth mentioning about their performances Sunday in one-sided defeats. In the New York and Tampa Bay areas, much of the chatter will be about removing Todd Bowles and Dirk Koetter as head coaches of their respective outfits. At least Jon Gruden won’t be worrying about job security with a Raiders team he has torn asunder Youth Marcus Maye Jerseys , and he has the job security to rebuild.Bowles got it right at the New Jersey Meadowlands by saying following a 41-10 embarrassment at the hands of the previously-inept-on-offense Buffalo: “We stunk it up as coaches, we stunk it up as players.”His team certainly represented what used to be swamp land quite well Sunday. The Jets (3-7, losers of four in a row) were blitzed from the beginning by a quarterback, Matt Barkley, who was unemployed a few days ago, and has been a journeyman for almost his entire NFL stint; this was his 12th game since 2013. They were overrun by LeSean McCoy, which is fine except when you consider he was in a horrendous slump and hadn’t scored all season.Worst, they seemed apathetic and disinterested from the start, a strong indictment of the players and the coaches.“They just came in and just straight Marcus Maye Jerseys Stitched , flat out, beat us,” said Jets receiver Jermaine Kearse, who has had to adjust to lots of losing in New York after lots of winning while he was with the Seahawks. “I wish I could give you an explanation. It’s frustrating for all of us, but they just came in here and straight beat us.”Maybe because the Bills were trying a whole lot harder?“Nobody’s quit on anybody,” Kearse added. “We win together, we lose together and that’s everybody’s mindset right now. We’re all not perfect, we’re out here trying to figure it out and find ways to improve this situation like anybody else. So, I would think that’s far from the truth.”The Jets have never fired a coach during the season since the Johnson family bought the franchise in 2000. At least Bowles seems to have that going for him.Koetter is in his third season in charge in Tampa Youth ArDarius Stewart Jerseys , and he’s supposedly an offensive mastermind. Until being manhandled by Washington, the Bucs were tearing it up when they had the ball. Maybe somebody tore up all the play sheets that worked previously because they scored a mere three points against a team struggling with injuries.Offensive coordinator Todd Monken had been calling plays, but Koetter took over against the Redskins. He wouldn’t explain why, but clearly it was a bogus decision.“We weren’t good enough as a team, and that starts with me,” Koetter said. “To move the ball like that and come up with three points, you’re just not going to win that way.”Tampa (3-6) has the second-longest playoff drought, 10 seasons, and Koetter’s chances of breaking that string are diminishing rapidly. No such worries for Gruden ArDarius Stewart Jerseys Stitched , whose return to Oakland has been a fiasco so far. Give him credit for all the high draft picks the Raiders will have in April, and maybe for the high prospects they will carry into Las Vegas when they move in 2020.For now, though, well — pardon us on this one — they’ve fallen into a Black Hole.“This will be a year that a lot of us will never forget,” Gruden said of his 1-8 team that has been outscored 75-9 in the past nine quarters in what has quickly become a lost season. “It’s painful. It’s really hard. It’s painful. It’s going to be hard to sleep again, hard to get up in the morning.”When Gruden gets up, he’ll perhaps look at others to get rid of as he retools the roster already missing Khalil Mack, Bruce Irvin and Amari Cooper. He’s got that wildly lucrative 10-year contract, virtual total control of personnel and no qualms about doing pretty much anything. What must hurt fans of these three teams that got hammered Sunday is that the effort from other losing clubs — Arizona Youth Darron Lee Jerseys , which tested powerful Kansas City; Cleveland, which stunned Atlanta; and, of course, Buffalo — was so strong, so admirable. Perhaps the worst sign for a struggling team is when it looks lost, lethargic and lacking skill on the field. In New Jersey and the Tampa and Oakland bay areas, that’s exactly what the fans saw in Week 10.

The Buffalo Bills defense played outstanding in containing Deshaun Watson in the Houston Texans offense Vosean Joseph NFL Jersey , but early special teams miscues, an injury for rookie Josh Allen, and Nate Peterman doing his best Nate Peterman Meme impression, added up to a close loss, 20-13.In the first half, the Bills fell on the losing side of a defensive struggle. They held the Texans to 115 total yards, with three sacks, an interception, and a forced fumble. The only problem was that the Texans were one better, holding Buffalo to 53 total yards, three fumbles (Houston recovering two), and two sacks. Two major special teams plays, a muffed punt and a blocked punt, translated into possessions in Buffalo territory and ten points for the Texans. The Bills finally started to catch up in the second half, largely on the back of their defense. In the third quarter, Lorenzo Alexander read Deshaun Watson’s eyes, swatted a pass into the air Vosean Joseph Jersey Draft , and caught it for his first interception on the season. The Bills turned that into a field goal.Josh Allen was dodging defenders all day, but after he hooked up with Kelvin Benjamin on a 39 yard gain, he took two hard hits, one to his elbow. The Bills rookie, in noticeable pain, was taken out of the game for Nate Peterman. Peterman played his part in bringing the Bills back into contention, driving the team downfield and connected with Zay Jones for a 16 yard touchdown pass. That gave Buffalo their first lead of the day, 13-10.The Bills sustained another long drive to take time off the clock, but ended up punting the ball to Houston with four minutes left in the game. For a moment, it seemed like the Bills had locked up the victory - Jerry Hughes forced another Watson fumble, but amid a Buffalo scrum a Texan came up with the ball. Then Watson took a deep shot to Will Fuller, who’d been quiet all day, and the speedster drew a pass interference call in the end zone against Phillip Gaines. It was gut check time, with 1st and goal at the one yard line. First down: tackle for loss. Second down: tackle for loss. Third down: false start, then an incomplete pass. The Bills held Houston away from the lead, but Kai’mi Fairbairn equalized the score at 13.But then, as we’ve seen him do too many times in his short career Infant Vosean Joseph Jersey , Peterman turned back into a pumpkin. With a minute and a half left in the game, Peterman underthrew a curl to Kelvin Benjamin, and Jonathan Joseph snagged it and sprinted into the end zone. With no timeouts and less than two minutes remaining, Peterman landed one first down, then attempted a ridiculous throw across his body which was also intercepted.NotesJosh Allen’s exit was the big news on the injury front, but starting left guard Vlad Ducasse also left with a knee injury. He was replaced by Ryan Groy.Lorenzo Alexander was a star today, with an interception and 1.5 sacks. The team’s other esteemed veteran, Kyle Williams, had two sacks. It was a great day for the old-timers of the roster. It was a sackfest for Buffalo, who came up with seven (and hit Watson many more times) on Sunday. After Lamar Miller found some room against the defense, Buffalo clamped down. The Texans finished with 24 carries for only 74 yards.Jordan Poyer had the team’s other interception, in the end zone at the first half to snuff out any points from the Texans.Harrison Phillips recovered his first career fumble (forced by Trent Murphy), setting up a short field for Buffalo’s first points.LeSean McCoy was the leading rusher, with 16 attempts for 73 yards. He added two receptions for 21 yards, but was held out of the endzone for another game.Kelvin Benjamin (2 for 43) and Zay Jones (3 for 35 and a touchdown) were the leading receivers today.Following his game today, Nate Peterman has an awful 3 touchdowns against 9 interceptions in his career. At the most crucial times, Peterman has a knack for playing terribly.Five Green Bay Packers we watched: Aaron Rodgers solid in victory The Buffalo Bills played very poorly Youth Vosean Joseph Jersey , to put it lightly, on Sunday afternoon, losing 22-0 to a very talented Green Bay Packers squad. Coming off an impressive 27-6 victory at the Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo certainly seemed capable of a better effort than the one they gave against Green Bay. Some of the Bills struggles were self-inflicted, as the team repeatedly missed chances in the game, but others were merely a result of greater talent on the other side of the ball. Green Bay is a strong team, and they played like the far superior outfit on Sunday. Here is how our five Packers to watch fared against the Bills in Sunday’s contest.QB Aaron RodgersRodgers was very good on Sunday, extending drives with his legs and making plenty of plays throughout the afternoon. All told, the veteran quarterback competed 22-of-40 passes for 298 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. He also added 5 carries for 31 rushing yards on a bum knee. It wasn’t his best performance, but it was certainly enough to take care of business. RB Aaron JonesAppearing in only his second game of the season, Jones was able to show why the Packers love to give him the ball. He was easily the team’s most effective runner, spearheading an offensive attack that ran 32 times for 144 yards against the Bills on the day. Jones had 11 of those carries, totaling 59 yards and a touchdown on the afternoon. He also caught his only target, turning a little screen pass into a 17-yard gain. As Jones works his way into “football shape,” he should only continue to gain effectiveness Womens Vosean Joseph Jersey , adding a scary-good rushing dimension to what is already a scary-good offense.WR Randall CobbWell, we couldn’t watch Cobb because he watched the game from the sideline. The veteran receiver missed the contest with a hamstring injury. Green Bay didn’t miss his presence, using Ty Montgomery and Marquez Valdes-Scantling in his stead.LT David BakhtiariOne week after pressuring quarterback Kirk Cousins fifteen times, Buffalo’s Jerry Hughes was a near total non-factor in the passing game during Sunday’s matchup with Green Bay. Hughes did not hit Aaron Rodgers on the day, although he did manage 5 tackles, 3 of which went for a loss. Bakhtiari found himself one-on-one with Hughes often, and the big offensive tackle was able to neutralize Buffalo’s top pass rusher. LB Clay MatthewsComing into the game, Matthews had not recorded a sack that counted. His previous quarterback sacks on the year were nullified by controversial roughing the passer penalties. On Sunday, Matthews was able to record his first sack, a half-sack, along with a quarterback hit. The Packers swarmed rookie Josh Allen, sacking him 7 times and hitting him 11 more times overall. The veteran Matthews made his presence known early and often on Sunday.

The first XFL location Brandon Shell Jerseys 2019 , which emerged this week, will be neither an NFL nor an AFL city. The next seven will all be cities in which the NFL currently plays.According to a post on the Wrestle Zone blog, the XFL inadvertently posted a list of all eight teams. The link provided to the XFL page currently contains no such information; instead, there’s a video announcing that an announcement is coming on December 5.Per the report, the cities (in addition to St. Louis) are Dallas, Houston, L.A., New York, Seattle, Tampa, and Washington. It’s a bold move by a bold man who resurrected the XFL, dropping teams directly into seven cities currently served by more than 25 percent of the NFL’s current teams. And it will require a fan base that already is largely loyal to one NFL team (or, in the case of L.A., all 32 of them) to embrace a minor-league team that plays in non-football season. The wild-card here will be the legalization of gambling. Which makes Tampa a somewhat surprising choice, given the results of a ballot initiative that will make it much harder to have legalized wagering in Florida. Although people obviously will be able bet on Tampa games in states where wagering is legal, any live, in-game, in-stadium betting won’t happen in Tampa unless and until Florida legalizes wagering.Regardless, the XFL will return in 2020, 19 years after its initial one-year experiment. And it won’t be competing with the AAF, at least not on the local level. It’s another exciting week of college games for us to watch. This week will feature one of my favorite matchups between Clemson and NC State. I will be prioritizing games with prospects that fit our primary needs. Those are as follows: Edge, T, WR, RB, G, ILB White Eric Tomlinson Jerseys , TE and CB. I added WR, and ILB to the needs list. Here are just a few games to check out, and who you should keep a keen scouting eye on throughout.Oklahoma Vs. TCU (Sat 10/20, 12:00 PM EST, ABC)Edge, Ben Banogu, TCU (#15)Ben is an athletic edge guy that gets off the snap in a hurry. His motor is also top notch. His problems lies rawness in pass rushing moves. He is pretty repetitive.T, Lucas Niang, TCU (#77)Niang has been one of the best tackles in the Big 12 all year. Lucas has been extremely efficient in both pass blocking and opening up holes. T, Bobby Evans, Oklahoma (#71)Evans has a ton of power and has the meanness that you like in a lineman. Looks to finish and dominate blocks downfield.WR, Marquise Brown, Oklahoma (#5)They don’t call him “Hollywood” Brown for nothing. This kid is a star and a playmaker. He can blow the top off of any defense.OG, Ben Powers, Oklahoma (#72)Powers lives up to his name with a nose for power run blocking. Good build with little bad weight, durable player. Ben is a good puller and has very good reaction speed.OG, Dru Samia, Oklahoma (#75)Despite not having great lateral movement, Dru does move pretty smoothly to the second level. He blocks with a lot of powerOther Notable prospects: LBer, Ty Summers, TCU #42 Michigan Vs. Michigan State (Sat 10/20, 12:00PM EST, FOX)Edge, Kenny Willekes Michigan State (#48)Kenny is a little raw when it comes to pass rushing moves, but shows a great motor, and is able to anchor well against the run.Edge Eric Tomlinson Jerseys 2019 , Chase Winovich, Michigan (#15)Chase is a very heady player, that like Gary, has an endless motor. You won’t see Winovich caught out of position or chasing ghosts.Edge, Rashan Gary, Michigan (#3)Gary is a raw slab of athletic ability and a motor that never runs cold. Give him some time to refine his technique and he will be a problem.RB, L.J. Scott, Michigan State (#3)Scott is a load to bring down. If your team needs a back that can lay some thud, L.J. is the guy.RB, Karan Higdon, Michigan (#22)Karan is a explosive little back. Once he gets into the open field, he jumps into a 2nd gear that is hard to chase down. Higdon gets to the 2nd level by using his patience and understanding of how the blocks will develop.CB, Lavert Hill, Michigan (#24)Hill uses his hands very well to gain leverage in man coverage. In the run game though, he can stand to be a little less soft.CB, David Long, Michigan (#22)Long isn’t the tallest corner, and maybe that has helped him develop his quick hips. He has the physicality to jam receivers at the line, and fight for position down the sideline.Other Notable prospects: QB, Brian Lewerke, Michigan State #14 - QB, Shea Patterson, Michigan #2 - S, Tyree Kinnel, Michigan #23 - Off-Ball LBer, Devin Bush Jr. White Darryl Roberts Jerseys , Michigan #10 - S, David Dowell, Michigan State #6NC State Vs. Clemson (Sat 10/20, 3:30 PM EST, ESPN)Edge, Clelin Ferrell, Clemson (#93)Ferrell is a disciplined, 3 down edge guy. Clelin combines his length, speed and technique to rein hell down on o-linemen.Edge, Austin Bryant, Clemson (#7)Austin Bryant looks the part of an elite edge rush, but then once the ball is snapped, he looks anything but. He needs to grow in every aspect of the position.OT, Mitch Hyatt, Clemson (#75)Physically Hyatt is an amazing tackle prospect. Technically, he is a nightmare. His raw skill will get him looks in the first 3 rounds, but he needs some coaching bad.WR, Kelvin Harmon, N.C. State, (#3)With Metcalf injured, Harmon will probably the 1st WR off the board this April. Harmon is a complete receiver with his route running, hands, size and speed.RB, Tavien Feaster, Clemson (#28)Feaster is a North South runner that packs a punch. It’s hard to bring Tavien down behind the LOS.OG/C, Garrett Bradbury Darryl Roberts Jerseys 2019 , N.C. State (#65)Garrett wins with great body control, hand placement and technique. He take great angles in space and is athletic enough to get to where he needs to be.OG, Terronne Prescod, N.C. State (#70)Terrone is a squatty, powerful people mover. Prescod absorbs power like those old videos of fat guys absorbing cannon balls Off-ball LBer, Kendall Joseph, Clemson (#33)Over the last two seasons, Joseph has been a tackling machine. There is nothing slow about Kendall, from his speed physically to his mental recognition.CB, Trayvon Mullen, Clemson (#21)Mullen has the size and speed to take advantage of the miss throws caused by the Clemson front 7. Now is his production his own, or should we give the credit to the before mentioned front 7.Other Notable prospects: QB, Ryan Finley, N.C. State #15 - DT, Christian Wilkins, Clemson #42 - DT, Dexter Lawrence, Clemson #90 - LB, Germaine Pratt, N.C. State #3 - S, Tanner Muse, Clemson #19

Kevin Zeitler Jersey , whether it’s due to a chunk of your roster missing the same week or a bye week just limiting the potential pool of players. I can’t say anything for how the former has hit you personally this week, but it’s definitely one of the latter. Week 9 is one of two six-team byes this season, so it’s possible your start-sit decisions are a little more desperate than usual this week. That’s OK, a lot of us are going to be in the same boat. Here’s this week’s start/sit:Running backStart: Chris Carson, Seattle SeahawksSeattle is the most run-heavy team in the league and the only team with a run-rate above 50 percent. Chris Carson is the lead back because he’s the best back and he’ll face a defense that’s 21st in DVOA against the run. Last week he got 25 carries against the Lions that resulted in 105 yards and a touchdown. He’s gone over 100 yards on the ground in three of his past four games.[Sunday morning update: Carson is a game-time decision in a late afternoon game. I’d still start him if he’s a go, but make sure you have an available alternative if he can’t].Start: Jordan Howard, Chicago BearsHoward’s usage hasn’t been ideal this season, but he’ll be the top runner on a team favored by a lot of points against a team starting Nathan Peterman at quarterback. With a lead of 10 or more, Chicago runs 53 percent of the time. They should have a lead of 10 or more quite often. 56 percent of Howard’s carries this season have come when the Bears are leading. This should be a perfect game script for heavy usage from Howard.Sit: LeSean McCoy, Buffalo BillsTake everything said about Howard and make it the opposite. McCoy isn’t likely to run much unless the Bills go full Wildcat in this game. The Bills do stick to the run, relatively, when they’re down by 10 or more but even though they’re the third-most run-heavy team in those situations, it’s still just 36 percent. McCoy does get more involved in the passing game when the Bills are behind, but still, he only has 24 targets when trailing this season.Sit: Duke Johnson, Cleveland BrownsWe can all hope Duke Johnson’s usage increases under new offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens. Unfortunately, we shouldn’t just assume that’s going to be the case in the first game. Johnson has yet to eclipse 10 touches in any game this season. And while the Chiefs have given up the third-most fantasy points to running backs this season, it’s more likely Nick Chubb will be the back who takes the majority of the snaps and carries. Wide receiverStart: Kenny Golladay Womens Saquon Barkley Jersey , Detroit LionsThe Golden Tate trade cleared the way for more Kenny Golladay and we should all be happy for more Kenny Golladay. Golladay has three targets combined over the past two games, but with Tate now gone, he’ll get pushed into the No. 2 role. And you should hope Golladay is treated as the No. 2 by the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings have a huge split against No. 1 receivers (no. 1 in DVOA) and No. 2’s (26th in DVOA). That difference is caused by Xavier Rhodes, who shadows the opponent’s top pass catcher. In past games against Detroit, that’s been Marvin Jones and if that’s the case again Golladay could have even more potential in the offense.Start: Tyler Lockett, Seattle SeahawksTyler Lockett has been a touchdown machine this season. He’s scored in six of Seattle’s seven games. Some of those come from where you’d expect. He’s now the team leader in red zone targets (four) with Brandon Marshall (five) released and that’s resulted in two touchdowns. He’s also a big play threat on the receiving end of deep Russell Wilson passes. Now that Seattle has figured out its play-action passing game — they run the third-most play-action and average the second-highest yards per play off it — Lockett could continue to be a consistent threat for the remainder of the season, especially against a Chargers secondary that has struggled this season.Sit: DeSean Jackson, Tampa Bay Buccaneers If you have Jackson on your roster, he probably won you a few games early in the season. Don’t hold onto that and assume the magic (Fitz or otherwise) will return with the quarterback change. Jackson hasn’t cleared 100 yards receiving since Week 4 and his three-catch, 68-yard effort with a touchdown last week took eight targets to accomplish. He’ll go against a Panthers secondary that has continued to improve and has given up the 10th-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers.Sit: Calvin Ridley, Atlanta FalconsRidley has cooled off since his hot three-week stretch at the start of the season. He’s still second on the team in red zone targets (five) but he’s either the No. 3 or 4 target in the offense behind Julio Jones, Austin Hooper, and occasionally Mohamed Sanu. Atlanta moves all of its receivers around on the field, so everyone gets in the slot, but if Ridley plays there often this week, he’ll have a tough matchup against Fabian Moreau, who has been Washington’s best cornerback this season.Tight endStart: Whoever you got. There are six total teams on a bye this week and tight ends on those rosters include Eric Ebron, Jack Doyle http://www.giantslockerroom.com/authentic-b.j.-goodson-jersey , Zach Ertz, and Evan Engram. If you’re deep enough that you have a tight end decision to make, good for you. Most of us are not. EDTShareTweetShareShareShould the Giants try to develop Michigan DL Rashan Gary’s traits?Kim Klement-USA TODAY SportsThe NFL Draft is an interesting beast. Thirty-two teams spend months, if not years, gathering data points on prospects, trying to build draft boards which will lead them as they invest their limited resources in college prospects who will be the future of their franchises. But while every team has similar resources and the same goals, they can each go about the process in wildly different ways. Every team runs slightly different schemes, and has different philosophies regarding what they value in a prospect. Michigan defensive end Rashan Gary will be a litmus test for what teams value and how they go about their pre-draft processes. Gary is a certified athletic freak playing a valuable position, but his production doesn’t fit his athletic profile. How will the Giants view him? Will Dave Gettleman be enamored with his size and athletic profile, and how would he reconcile Gary’s pedestrian production?MeasurablesProsElite height/weight/speed combination.Flashes a strong motor. Can be relentless in pursuit.Explosive first step. Can stand linemen up in the run game.Capable of delivering a solid jolt with his hands.ConsStiff in the lower body. Can’t flatten and bend around the edge.Struggles to get off blockers with technique or power. Can be fooled by offensive misdirection. Missed a month due to a shoulder injury. Prospect VideoWhat They’re Saying - Jon Ledyard (The Draft Network - Scouting Report) Does He Fit The Giants? On the surface, Gary looks like a great fit for what the Giants seem to want to do on defense. He has elite height/weight/speed traits, experience off the edge while also being able to move inside on nickel downs. However, taking a closer look at his tape, especially in the context of his production numbers Aldrick Rosas Jersey , raises some red flags. Teams will have to ask why an EDGE with Gary’s measurables was only able to generate 6.5 tackles for a loss and 3.5 sacks in nine games. While technique is vital at the NFL level, at the collegiate level, prospects are still able to “Out Athlete” players on opposing teams, and Gary should have been able to do that with regularity. On tape, he has a fantastic first step, but shows some lower-body stiffness which keeps him from being able to effectively flatten and bend around the edge -- which makes it too easy for tackles to simply run him around the pocket. Likewise, while he has a heavy punch, he doesn’t do much with his hands to keep blockers from locking in on his chest plate. That is useful in run defense, but slows down his pass rush. And finally, Gary’s awareness and mental processing seem to be issues, and too often he finds himself biting on offensive “eye candy” and being lead out of position. His technique and awareness might be coachable, but his issues with stiffness aren’t. Because of that, his best position is likely as a 5-technique on a one-gap 3-4 defense who can slide inside on nickel downs. In those situations, he can attack gaps with his burst and power, but won’t be asked to bend the edge often.Gary’s measurables and athletic upside will likely have him drafted highly, but whatever team takes him will likely need a plan to maximize his talents and help him reach his full potential.

We spoke with Rivers McCown of Football Outsiders to get the inside scoop on the New England Patriots. Click here to purchase the Football Outsiders Almanac! The Patriots have historically ranked extremely well on offenses, but they’ll be without Julian Edelman for the first four weeks and will have to replace #1 wide receiver Brandin Cooks and #1 running back Dion Lewis. Which players on the roster are most capable of stepping up to fill the void of production?I really like and agree with the idea that Rex Burkhead is going to pick up a lot of the offensive slack over the first four weeks of the season while Julian Edelman is suspended. We could see James White gaining some yards, too White Marcus Cannon Jerseys , but it will be the running backs that Tom Brady will rely upon to start the season.Without Edelman, the top targets will be Rob Gronkowski and Chris Hogan and I think Cordarrelle Patterson will be able to carve out a niche role in the offense with 5-10 touches per game. But I expect Brady to dump the ball off to Burkhead and White to gain yards after the catch as much as possible to supplement the typical short routes of Edelman. What are some areas of Tom Brady’s game that he improved in 2017? Any notable areas of decline? I asked this question because Brady has improved upon different facets of his game in each of the past four years. In 2014, Brady worked on his mobility and moving outside of the pocket. In 2015, he worked on his pre-snap reads and motions to evaluate opposing defenses and win the down before the ball is snapped. In 2016, Brady really improved his deep ball. In 2017 Marcus Cannon Jerseys 2019 , he improved his ability to throw while pressured. It’s fair to ask if there’s anything else that Brady has left to improve. He’s accurate and decisive and he can make all the throws. It’s unreasonable to expect him to throw with more zip at his current age, but he’s also not showing any signs of decline.I think McCown’s description of an “oops throw” is probably the most accurate way to describe Brady’s biggest (last remaining?) flaw. Brady’s always good for a jaw-droppingly dumb interception three or four times every year, usually early on a drive where he forces the ball to a double-covered receiver for no reason or when he panics under pressure and just throws the ball up instead of eating the sack.Between 2001-12, Brady threw 15 red zone interceptions over 949 pass attempts (1.58%). Over the past five seasons, Brady has thrown 10 red zone interceptions over 480 pass attempts (2.08%). It’s worth noting that Brady commit three of these interceptions in each of 2013 White Brandon Bolden Jerseys , 2014, and 2015, and only one over the past two seasons (Eric Weddle, December 2016), so perhaps this isn’t an issue at all.So we’re really just splitting hairs here. If Brady doesn’t decline Brandon Bolden Jerseys 2019 , he’s the best quarterback in the league and there’s no reason to expect him to decline in 2018.

back Sony Michel not expected to play The New England Patriots have one of the deepest offensive backfields in the NFL – and it looks as if its depth will be tested today when the team opens its 2018 regular season against the Houston Texans. According to a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter Youth Damien Harris Jersey , first-round rookie running back Sony Michel is expected to miss the contest which would have been his NFL debut:As Schefer notes, Michel was listed as questionable on Friday’s final injury reported after being a limited practice participant all week long. The Georgia product, who was drafted by the Patriots with the 31st overall selection earlier this year, is dealing with a knee injury that cost him more than three weeks worth of practice time in training camp: Michel originally injured his knee on August 1 and did not return until August 27.The rookie missed all four of New England’s preseason contests and will now have to wait at least one more week for his first game action at the pro level. During his absence, Rex Burkhead and fellow offseason addition Jeremy Hill are projected to serve as the Patriots’ lead backs on early downs. James White, meanwhile, will again be the team’s primary receiving back. New England picked up the Alabama man with the 87th overall selection."WhitePatriots News Opinion and Analysis Contribute! I wouldn’t say I was apoplectic but I felt there were better options available. I think out of all the draft picks my opinion of this one has seen the most positive improvement from where I was when it was first picked. Grade: B What I LikeI want to take you back to a press conference with Tom Brady where he specifically mentions the deep desire for the offense to have a short yardage back. At the time he was discussing the pick in the context of Sony Michel. It was an intriguing answer but it also left me a bit perplexed. Michel is not a short yardage specialist, so it did not appear like the need matched up with the talent. You know what player does match the short yardage specialist profile? Damien Harris.Be warned future fantasy players, I see some nice Michel-dominated drives that end with Harris swooping in to take the touchdown. I think it is clear the Patriots have a specific role in mind for Harris and I think he has the capacity to fulfill that role admirably. Everything about him screams short yardage back. He has the build, the efficiency, the technique and the power. Michel and Harris are both two-down backs but their skills are not entirely duplicative.Another thing to like about Harris is his pass protection. He displays well above-average skill in this arena which will make it very easy to put him on the field as a rookie. Another thing to like about Harris are his hands. He doesn’t have the speed or route running skills to be an adept pass catcher but his hands are quite natural meaning he at least gives you something in the passing game.Another element to like about Harris is his leadership qualities. Like Sony Michel he was a two-time team captain who was given impressive marks for his character. Harris can also participate on special teams. I think the best case scenario for Harris fills an (apparently) critical role as a short yardage guru who pass protects well and offers a sprinkle of versatility through dump off passes and special teams. What Concerns MeTo be perfectly honest I don’t have a lot of concerns with Harris. If the concerns with Chase Winovich and Joejuan Williams are that their major physical deficiencies limit their floor, the concern with Harris is that his physical deficiencies limit his ceiling. He is the classic high-floor Authentic Damien Harris Jersey , low-ceiling prospect in my eyes. People have compared him to Michel because he was productive out of a committee but make no mistake: the former first-rounder is a superior talent, which is reflected in where he was picked.Pats Pulpit reacts to the Damien Harris and Yodny Cajuste picksSubscribe to the Pats Pulpit podcast for more draft reactions! That leads us to the issue of value. On one hand, the Patriots have been had issues with running back both in 2015 and 2018. On the other hand, how much do you really want to value the fourth depth option of the least important position in football? The Patriots would be fine if Rex Burkhead, Sony Michel or James White missed a game. Would they be okay if Julian Edelman or N’Keal Harry did the same?People bring up the injury concerns with Michel and Rex Burkhead, but I could levy the same concern at nearly every position. Not to mention you can grab solid running backs through free agency, through the last four rounds of the draft Damien Harris Jersey Boys , or even through undrafted free agents. It’s much harder to do that with other positions. The potential cap gains are also limited.Harris does not do what Burkhead or White do so I’m not convinced this lets us move past either. But even if he causes New England to move past Burkhead it only saves the team a few million in cap relative to another position that might save them significantly more. I think the realistic worst-case-scenario is that Harris offers minimal value for a third round pick, not necessarily him busting as a prospect. Closing Thoughts on the GradeAs for Harris, the B is purely the result of his limited value. He’s a safe pick. I think he will fill a need the team desired to fill. I don’t see very much upside here. As long he fills his role at a high level I can be satisfied with taking him at the bottom of the third, hence a B grade. Overall, I think the Patriots did well for themselves on day two. There is definitely some significant risk but there is also some legitimate upside. You are going to have to take risks when consistently picking at the bottom of the draft. In this case I think these risks are calculated ones, with better than even odds of paying off in big way.

ACL Matt Milano Jerseys 2019 , per report Most Buffalo Bills fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Kyle Williams didn’t tear his ACL on Friday night, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, when he was rolled up on from behind in the middle of a scrum stopping a running back. He was walking around in a brace following the game. Whatever injury Williams did sustain, it likely won’t keep him out for the entire season.“Pro Football Doc”, Dr. David Chao White Vontae Davis Jerseys , has said on multiple occasions that on-field procedures to test for an ACL tear are highly effective, so we expect the MRI to confirm this in Buffalo today. With Williams sidelined, the Bills will rely heavily on rookie Harrison Phillips, selected in the third round. Phillips played mostly nose tackle in college for Stanford but has shown great burst working at 3-technique in practice during his first training camp. This could also open the door for Adolphus Washington to make the initial roster. His play had most believing he would be on the outside looking in, but if Williams misses several weeks Vontae Davis Jerseys 2019 , Buffalo will need a body.We should get more test results this weekend to see exactly what Williams’ diagnosis and status are going to be going forward. Now that the final chapter of the 2018 football season has closed and the 2019 NFL Draft order is mostly set—with the exception of supplemental picks—SB Nation’s draft guru Dan Kadar has thrust a two-round mock draft upon us. In it, Kadar has the Buffalo Bills and general manager Brandon Beane deciding to strengthen the team’s trenches with the combination of a pass rushing defensive tackle in the first round and a dominant run-blocking guard in the second. Grif’s take:Upgrading the offensive and defensive lines are always solid strategies around draft time. I don’t take issue with the strategy, I object to the tactics. With three defensive tackles going in the first round, taking the player he considers to be fourth-best, is a reach. Kadar admits as much in his write-up. With offensive linemen Jawaan Taylor and Cody Ford still on the board Youth Tre’Davious White Jersey , targeting the offensive line in the first round may have been the better way to go. As for the players, Lindstrom is very-much deserving of pick 40, while Wilkins’s upside is somewhat limited given that he’s a four-year starter at Clemson and will be 24 during his rookie season. Additionally, there are still questions about his ability to stand up to defensive lines at the point of attack.

has perfect practice attendance Football season is right around the corner White Patrick Chung Jerseys , which means that the NFL’s teams have started releasing their injury reports for the regular season. Earlier today, the New England Patriots and Houston Texans published their first ones of the year and it gives us insight into the two teams’ present injury situations. Let’s take a look:Did not participateWhile the Texans had one of their late training camp pickups missing today – Webster ended last season on injured reserve due to an Achilles injury and is still not fully ready –, the Patriots had perfect attendance: offensive tackle Trent Brown returned after being absent yesterday, and the rest of the team was also present for the session.Limited participationSeeing Sony Michel on the list of limited Patriots does not come as a surprise: while he returned to practice last week, he missed a month of action before that due to his injury. Ja’Whaun Bentley, Duke Dawson and Jacob Hollister, meanwhile, have all looked good over the course of the summer and were projected to earn key rotational roles with the team. It could be another week before this projection turned into a reality. The biggest name on the Texans’ list of limited players is Whitney Mercilus. The former Pro Bowler, who spent most of 2017 on injured reserve, is projected to start for Houston’s defense. How much action he will actually see considering his status as a limited participant today remains to be seen.Full participationAs was reported over the weekend, starting right tackle Marcus Cannon is expected to be ready for opening week. Today’s injury status confirms this – and the same goes for key special teamer and reserve safety Nate Ebner as well. Both should see plenty of action on Sunday. The New England Patriots have set a benchmark for divisional dominance in the NFL for nearly two decades.Their mastery of the AFC East with coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady leading the way 鈥?10 straight titles and 16 in 19 seasons since 2000 鈥?has proven to be somewhat of a double-edged sword for its division opponents. It's the curse that haunts them and the engine that drives them."New England is the team that teams want to be," 22-year-old Bills rookie quarterback Josh Allen said after Sunday's 24-12 loss in Foxborough gave New England its latest division crown.Allen is new to the scene Patrick Chung Jerseys 2019 , but he has already had a taste of the Patriots dynasty that has beleaguered the Bills. And, the New York Jets. And, the Miami Dolphins. In all, the Patriots have won the division 21 times. The Dolphins were the last non-New England team to win the AFC East in 2008 鈥?the same season Brady missed all but one game after tearing knee ligaments in the opener. The last of the Jets' four division wins came in 2002.Buffalo's most recent of its 10 division titles came in 1995. The Bills were also the last AFC East team to string together consecutive division championships, doing so in four straight seasons from 1988 to 1991.Since the AFC East's inception in 1960, no team has done what New England has during its recent run. The Dolphins came closest, winning five of their 14 titles consecutively from 1981-85 and 10 in 15 years."I think every team wants to (emulate them)," Allen said. "Obviously, they've got one of the greatest coaches to ever coach and one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game of football. ... So, obviously, that's what we want to be."Just about the only thing working against the Patriots is time.Brady is now 41 years old and in his 19th season. Belichick, 66 White Duron Harmon Jerseys , is four decades into an NFL coaching career during which he has won seven Super Bowls, five as a head coach in New England.Yet the Patriots still find themselves a Week 17 win against the Jets away from clinching a first-round bye in the playoffs, ensuring them an all-important extra week of rest and at least one more game in Foxborough."We still have one hugely important game left," Brady said. "We have to finish strong."Unlike years past, the Patriots' road to the AFC East crown hasn't been as easy. Their five losses are the most for any Patriots team since going 10-6 in 2009 and losing to the Baltimore Ravens in the wild-card round.Off-field issues such as the abrupt departure of midseason acquisition Josh Gordon, who was suspended indefinitely by the NFL last Thursday for another violation of the league's substance abuse policy, have made the road even tougher."Every team goes through things," Belichick said during a conference call Monday. "When you play football for five months, things happen that you have to deal with as a team and we all have to deal with individually. So, I can't imagine a season where that would ever not be the case."It's becoming harder to imagine a season that doesn't end with the Patriots on top of the AFC East, as well.

preseason high ankle sprain he suffered. The New York Giants linebacker practiced twice last week and has practiced this week. What does he need to show if he is to play Sunday against the Carolina Panthers?“Prove to myself is the number one priority Patrick Omameh Jerseys 2019 , but then also showing them [coaches] that I’m capable of making certain plays that you don’t want to be a liability out there,” Vernon said. “It’s just basically showing the coaches you’re capable of making the cuts when you have to or inside stunts and stuff like that.”Defensive tackle Damon Harrison said Thursday that getting Vernon back would mean “everything” to the defense.“That’s the terminator. OV can do it all. Can provide some much needed pass rush, as well as be strong on the edges,” Harrison said. “I think that’s not a discredit to the other guys. OV is just a different animal.”Mike Shula’s take on the struggling offenseOn Odell Beckham Jr. not having any touchdowns yet:“I think that just comes in a natural play of the game. I don’t think if we try to start forcing the ball to get anybody touchdowns, I think you run into some risky business, so to speak. I think that he’s very talented. He’s going to get the ball. He’s going to get us in the end zone. He’s going to get in the end zone. More importantly, we need to score more, however we do it. Whether or not it’s Odell, or (RB) Saquon (Barkley), whoever it is. We just need to get down there number one, and finish drives. It’s all about scoring points.”On why Eli Manning’s high rate of completions hasn’t led to more points:“I think that we’re close. It hasn’t been good enough yet. I know coach has mentioned this, too, I know Eli has mentioned it, we’ve had some plays that have set us back penalty wise, or a negative play that has maybe been one of the reasons why we’ve stalled the drives. The completion percentage is big. Obviously, you want the ball caught every time and thrown to the right guy. A quarterback’s job is to do three things: throw it to the right guy, get the ball there on time, and get the ball there accurately. Whether or not that guy is 20 yards down the field or five yards down the field, just keep the chains moving forward, and then we feel like if we do that and stay on the field, with our athletes, we’re going to get the ball in the end zone.”Ray-Ray Armstrong emergingArmstrong, in theory a backup inside linebacker has played 151 snaps thus far while starter B.J. Goodson has played only 101.“One of the things with Ray-Ray is, I love the ability and flexibility that guys have as whether they can come cover back, whether they can blitz off the edge, whether they can cover in space. I think the way the game has changed is we’ve all seen a change over the last few years, is the game has become so horizontal, so spread out, that you have to be able to do those things in space and I think Ray-Ray is getting an opportunity to play right now,” said defensive coordinator James Bettcher. “For B.J., he’s just got to keep playing, keep working. I love his mindset, I love his work ethic, (he’s a) physical guy. We’re not down on B.J., I think Ray-Ray has played a little bit better to this point, and he’s going to continue to get his chances.”‘Snacks:’ Defense needs an identityHarrison isn’t yet sure what the Giants are on defense.“I’m still trying to figure out what we are on defense. I think we somewhat have established our identity as a team. A tough unit, a physical unit, but we just don’t complete ballgames in it’s entirety. I think that’s just something we have to work on.”Around the Inter-GoogleWayne Gallman reflects on the loss of his old Clemson teammate C.J. While the 1-3 record is a bit of a disappointment, there’s been some optimism around the rookie class. With that in mind, we can take a look at how each of the Giants’ rookies have performed through the first four weeks of the season.Saquon BarkleySo far the second overall pick has been as advertised. Barkley has been able to break a big play, but the Giants also have the fourth-highest rate of runs that have gained negative yards. He’s fifth in the league in touches and seventh in yards from scrimmage.Barkley is second in Football Outsiders’ rushing DYAR and sixth in DVOA, while the Giants’ offensive line ranks 31st in adjusted line yards and averages just 2.0 rushing yards before contact. His standard success rate, which uses the percentage of yards needed that were gained, is 43 percent per Football Outsiders, which ranks 23rd among 38 running backs with at least 32 carries. Barkley’s success rate by EPA — the percentage of runs that have positive expected points added — is just 35.6 percent.Through four weeks, the repeated sentiment from the offseason has held true — Barkley has been excellent, but it doesn’t matter without other pieces of a functional offense. He has at least 100 yards from scrimmage in all four games this season, but those yards haven’t been able to spark the offense single-handedly. Barkley’s win probability added totals negative-8.6 percent on running plays and just 3.9 percent on passing plays. He’s been worth minus-2.21 expected points added on the ground just 2.0 through the air.One place where Barkley’s usage could continue to improve is how he’s used in the passing game. If he’s used more in the slot or the outside or even just in front of the line of scrimmage White Mario Edwards Jerseys , he could be put in more space to do more damage. Over half of Barkley’s targets have come behind the line of scrimmage and 83 percent of his targets have come no further than two yards down the field. That’s fine for a normal running back, but Barkley wasn’t drafted to be a normal running back. Instead of running the ball with Barkley on first down, throw it to him. These issues aren’t the fault of Barkley, but they come with trying to get the most efficient use out of a running back picked second overall. Will HernandezHernandez has gotten better each week. He was at fault for some of the pressures against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1, but that could be said of all five offensive linemen who played in that game. Hernandez was expected to be a force in the run game, and that’s come already. Per Sharp Football Stats, Barkley’s highest success rate has come running behind the left guard.source: Sharp Football StatsThis holds up by EPA, too. Among the run gaps, Barkley only has positive EPA behind the right and left guards. But he’s been much better behind the left guard — eight carries, 6.1 EPA (0.76 average), and 62.5 percent success rate — than right guard — 10 carries, 1.17 EPA (0.12 average), and 40 percent success rate. But where he’s really developed is in the passing game, a welcome addition to a line that desperately needed it. Hernandez has been able to use his strength to keep defenders away from the quarterback, but his situational awareness has also been an important factor to his early success. He never looks lost on a play, again a welcome trait along this line.Take this play here against the Saints this past week. There’s pre-snap communication between Manning, Hernandez, center John Greco, and left tackle Nate Solder. They recognize a blitz is probably coming from No. 24 and they adjust the protection for it. At the snap, Hernandez kicked to his left — where two rushers are likely to come from, and they do — but he also prepared himself to adjust in case the defensive tackle to his right came at him. Still, he was able to take the defensive end who looped to him and kept him away from the quarterback. It’s something relatively simple — having clear communication and knowing the assignment — but there’s a low bar to be judged against for this offensive line. Though even without grading on a curve, Hernandez has continued to be excellent. Lorenzo CarterLorenzo Carter has been given a bigger role than previously expected because of the injury to Olivier Vernon through the first four weeks of the season. Carter has played 40.6 percent of the defensive snaps as the No. 3 edge rusher behind Kareem Martin and Connor Barwin.Carter has always been a good athlete — he had the No. 2 speed score and was No. 1 in SPARQ among this year’s class of edge rushers — but he hasn’t always been able to translate that athleticism into production. That was the case in college when he had just 14.5 sacks in four years and it still remains something to work on in the NFL.At Georgia, Carter had a role that was more of a traditional linebacker who could rush the passer. But so far with the Giants, Carter has transitioned to full-time edge rusher — he has just three snaps in coverage against the pass this season. When Carter can use his speed, good things can happen.Against the Houston Texans, Carter had a pressure by lining up in a wide-9 technique, running full speed at right tackle Julie’n Davenport and flushing Dashaun Waston out of the pocket. He got his lone sack of the season by fighting Davenport to the outside, then beating him around the edge. But there are still times when he doesn’t really have a move and can easily be stopped by an opposing tackle like he was in many cases against the New Orleans— here against Ryan Ramczyk.Carter is second on the team with three quarterback hits and he’s already matched his four-year college total with one pass breakup. He wasn’t supposed to get this much time on the field this early and we’ll see how or if his role changes with the return of Vernon, but there have been signs of development in this time with room for much more. B.J. HillThroughout training camp, Hill was a breakout star. He was treated as a clear-cut starter in the preseason and played limited snaps. He hasn’t really been given that role in the regular season, though. Through four games, he’s played just 32.8 percent of the defensive snaps. But, Hill has made an impact when he’s on the field. He leads the team with two sacks — one each of the past two weeks — and he’s done it from the interior and the edge. He also moves extremely well for a 300-plus pound lineman. Against the Saints, he got his sack when he and Dalvin Tomlinson were 2-on-1 against the center which eventually gave Hill a clear run to Drew Brees. It wasn’t beating a blocker like his sack on the edge against Houston, but there are not many interior defenders who would have been able to close on Brees as Hill did.Like Carter, Hill could see his playing time decrease even more with the addition of Josh Mauro, who is returning from a four-game suspension. But while that scenario could help Carter with his development, Hill has already shown he should be getting more playing time than what he’s already been given. The othersKyle Lauletta, the Giants’ fourth-round pick, has not been on the active game day roster yet, so he’s no immediate threat to take over at quarterback. But should the Giants continue to struggle on offense, it would not be a surprise to see him get a look during the second half of the season.Fifth-round pick R.J. McIntosh has been on the reserve/non-football illness list since the beginning of September. He likely won’t see any action until 2019.Sean Chandler, an undrafted rookie safety out of Temple, was a surprise player to make the roster out of training camp. He’s only been in on one defensive snap (he made a tackle) but has played over half of the team’s special teams snaps.Tae Davis, an undrafted linebacker out of Tennessee-Chatanooga, has not seen the field on defense, but has played on 36 special teams snaps.

prepare to face a new opponent each week White Trent Murphy Jerseys , fans take on the age-old arch-nemesis know as “hunger.” Never fear, Buffalo Rumblings has just the playbook to take down this foe. Each week, we’ll dive into enemy territory to scout their signature moves and put a “Buffalo” spin on it. Translated, each week we’ll share a themed recipe based on who the Bills are playing, including a custom wing sauce to go with each dish. Our opponent this week:Tennessee TitansSlow-Cooked Pulled BBQ Chicken: Having been to Nashville one time for a conference at work, I proclaim myself wholly expert on their sauce techniques. OK, maybe not, but I did eat a lot of it. While my expertise may be in doubt, the beauty of BBQ sauce is the sheer volume of great ways to make it. For this week, we take a simple sauce recipe and steer it the way of Nashville, as defined by research and impressions from when I was there. The name of the game is “sweet,” with a sauce that feels right at home being cooked with the meat or used as a condiment to finish the deal. And of course we’ll wing it up notch with some hot sauce. We’re using a slow cooker as they’re commonly available. The sauce can easily be used on chicken cooked in other ways. To help balance that out, a lighter beer pairs nicely. Beer products provided by Labatt USA. Please drink responsibly. Coming soon! The Buffalo Bills face the Houston Texans next week and as we all know Texas is widely renowned for its...BBQ. There’s nothing wrong with two weeks of BBQ, right? Since it’ll be recent memory and all, for the Houston installment we’ll focus more on how to make it your own and work in some different techniques.Buffalo Bills film room: Josh Allen nails the post-wheel concept The Buffalo Bills blew out the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, but as they took an early lead, any confidence felt tenuous at best. An opening touchdown drive was impressive, but aided by two personal foul penalties, and a fumble recovery only led to three points. When the Bills recovered a second strip-sack, it felt like the only way they could keep the Vikings at bay would be to capitalize on the possession with another touchdown. And that’s just what Brian Daboll and Josh Allen delivered, with a pass to tight end Jason Croom. Before running this play, the Bills had passed once to a running back in the flats, and had a receiver in the flats on three of their first five passing plays. As such, the Vikings were looking for that sort of movement, especially when the Bills fell behind schedule and would conceivably look to gain easy yardage on second-and-11. Minnesota, seeing Buffalo’s pre-snap motion, dialed up a Cover-3 “sky” look. In the GIF below, see how two Vikings point to the sky as the ball is snapped. They see the running back in motion and want to aggressively attack the flat to try and take Buffalo out of field goal range. Instead, the Bills score a touchdown. Josh Allen makes a great show of looking to the flat, then quickly resets and throws to his wide open tight end. This is a great example of a coverage beater in football. The outside cornerback is in a bind—in a Cover-3, he should be covering a deep third of the field. But if he drops vertically, then there’s a risk that the post receiver will come open before reaching the center fielder. So the corner wants to bracket the receiver and follow him to the safety. But with this route combination, the wheel man will be open behind the outside corner. A safety or linebacker will have difficulty trailing any slot receiver down the sideline on that route, and when the action in the flat naturally draws the curl-flat safety toward the line of scrimmage White Chris Ivory Jerseys , it’s easy pickings. Here’s the same play, this time from the end zone angle. You can see how the post receiver pulls his cornerback along toward the safety, opening up room for Croom. This is a concept that’s been useful for decades, and it’s in vogue right now in the NFL. Here’s a great breakdown from Chris Brown in 2012, when Dana Holgorsen employed it in a record-smashing offense at West Virginia. Now, what gave this play extra significance was that it represented an area of growth from Allen between Week 2 and Week 3. The Bills ran this exact same concept against the Chargers, but Allen flubbed it. It was clear, in watching his execution on Sunday, that Allen did his homework after losing to Los Angeles, and drilled himself on properly reading this concept.Yes, the play ultimately ended with a 57-yard completion to Zay Jones. Still, this is an example of bad process, good results. Jones was wide open for most of this play, had to turn around to catch the pass, and the ball could have been intercepted. If Allen were more decisive and knew which players to read, he would’ve had a first down or a touchdown with ease.In Week three, we saw a more confident Allen on the field, and he shocked the Vikings (and Las Vegas) with an efficient, accurate quarterback performance. It was a positive stride for the rookie, and engenders hope that he’ll keep learning from his mistakes as his career continues.

GOODYEAR http://www.indiansfanproshop.com/authentic-b.j.-upton-jersey , Ariz. (AP) — Shane Bieber’s last name draws an immediate connection to a more famous global pop superstar, and playful teasing from his teammates. As a rookie last season, Bieber often endured taunts about singer Justin Bieber — the other “Biebs.”“They’d just get angry at me after I’m talking smack or whatever and say ‘All right, Justin,'” Bieber said with a laugh following a recent morning workout at training camp. “That’s kind of they’re go-to.”Well, while the confident right-hander won’t match Justin Bieber’s commercial success or his number of Twitter followers or ever be the subject of endless Hollywood tabloid headlines, Cleveland’s Bieber is making a pretty good name for himself. These days, the joking from his teammates has subsided.A fourth-round pick in 2016, Bieber shot through the Indians’ farm system and became one of the team’s steadiest starters in just his third pro season. After beginning 2018 at Double-A Akron, he was promoted to Triple-A Columbus and wound up making 19 starts for the Indians, going 11-5 with a 4.55 ERA.“He’s had a lot thrown at him in a hurry,” Indians manager Terry Francona said. “You want guys to make adjustments and he did a lot of that on the fly last year, it was fun to watch.”From the moment he arrived in the majors, Bieber looked like he belonged. In 20 games Corey Kluber Jersey , he struck out 118 while allowing just 23 walks in 114 2/3 innings. Bieber’s 5.1 strikeout-to-walk ratio ranked among the top 10 in the league, behind All-Stars Justin Verlander, Chris Sale and teammate Corey Kluber.Beyond his impressive statistics, the 23-year-old Bieber displayed a veteran’s composure, something he attributes to his development at the University of California-Santa Barbara.“We were big on the mental side of the game,” said Bieber, who helped the Gauchos reach the 2016 College World Series. “And just being able to stay poised and confident, especially when things go wrong.”One place he saw things go wrong during last season was through the later innings of games, particularly facing batters for the third and fourth times through the order. Francona believes adjustments made to Bieber’s changeup — a pitch he used less than four percent of the time last season according to Statcast — will help.“Not just for the third time through the order but when he falls behind a lefty, he got a little predictable,” Francona said. “He’s trying to find a grip (on the changeup) where he can soften it up a little bit.”Bieber got off to a strong start in his spring exhibition debut Wednesday, retiring all six Milwaukee hitters he faced in Cleveland’s 6-1 win.Over the past few weeks, Bieber has become more familiar with the Indians Player Development Complex. This is his first time spending all spring in a big league camp, an experience he was fully prepared for last year but never got the invite.“Guys are kind of looking at me like it’s not my first Ricky Vaughn Jersey ,” said Bieber, who did enough last season to be added to the postseason roster. “They’re like, ‘Oh shoot, it’s actually your first? Maybe I shouldn’t be asking you where to go,’ because I’m just trying to follow the crowd and not be too much of a greenie.”He may still be learning the lay of the land in Arizona, but Bieber is very comfortable when it comes to helping the three-time reigning AL Central champions win. With an adjusted change now in his arsenal plus improved breaking balls, Bieber will be counted on as a vital fifth starter in one of baseball’s best rotations.“He deserves to be where he is. He earned it,” Francona said. “We tell the young guys, you know, we don’t want you just to get called up, we want you to get called up and help us win. There’s a difference.”And even a well-known last name won’t help. A look at what’s happening around the majors Sunday:SHO TIMEAngels rookie Shohei Ohtani is set to pitch again, and will start at night against the Astros at Minute Maid Park. The two-way sensation from Japan hasn’t been on the mound in the majors since spraining the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow nearly three months ago.Ohtani excelled in his first nine starts before getting hurt, going 4-1 with a 3.10 ERA. He’s continued to do well at the plate as a designated hitter.Gerrit Cole (12-5, 2.85) starts for AL West-leading Houston.ACESIt’s a marquee matchup at Citizens Bank Park when Aaron Nola (15-3 Michael Brantley Jersey , 2.10 ERA) starts for playoff-contending Philadelphia vs. lefty Jon Lester (14-5, 3.67) and the NL Central-leading Cubs. Nola has given up more than two runs just once in his last 12 starts, building his case for the Cy Young Award.START HIM UPTwins manager Paul Molitor says he will use a reliever as the starter in the series finale at Texas, and is leaning toward lefty Gabriel Moya. Molitor said Zack Littell, who has been with Triple-A Rochester since early July, likely will be used as the next pitcher. It would be the 23-year-old Moya’s first career start after 31 relief appearances over two seasons. Moya pitched a scoreless inning Friday in a 10-7 win. Littell, a 22-year-old righty, made his major league debut in June and was primarily a starter in the minors.“I talked to Zack today about it and I gave him a little heads-up before I talked to the pitchers as a whole, just in case you guys were asked about what he was going to do and he didn’t know,” Molitor said. “I think he said two or three times where he’s gone through it.”AILINGGiants shortstop Brandon Crawford has missed two straight starts. Manager Bruce Bochy says Crawford has a sore left knee, among other minor ailments.

the Raiders Earl Mitchell jersey , I had absolutely no expectations for second-year quarterback Nick Mullens, making his first-ever start on a short week. The 49ers were sitting at 1-7, but never did I imagine that a change in quarterback would be the answer to fixing a lot of San Francisco’s problems. Yet with every drive, it seemed like fans started to gain confidence in Mullens’ ability.Mullens and the 49ers’ offense opened with back-to-back touchdown drives that spanned 75 and 66 yards, respectively and then closed out the half with a 59-yard, 1:38 drive for a field goal. Kyle Shanahan’s group opened the second half with a four-play, 75-yard touchdown drive and then a three-play, 68-yard drive that put the 49ers up 31-3 and effectively sealed the game. In his debut, Mullens was highly efficient, finishing 16-of-22 for 262 yards, with three touchdown passes, no interceptions and a near-perfect passer rating of 151.9. The 49ers’ receivers were an integral part of Mullens’ success (as was an atrocious Raiders defense), as the second-year player did not attempt a single throw into a tight window, per NFL’s Next Gen Stats. Let’s take a look at certain plays from Mullens’ debut that highlights his strengths, while showing some areas for improvement as he’s slated to make his second start against the Giants. After playing on Thursday Night Football for his first game Authentic K'Waun Williams jersey , Mullens is going to get another national showcase on ESPN’s Monday Night Football this upcoming week.On the 49ers’ very first offensive play, Mullens is able to find wideout Marquise Goodwin for an 11-yard gain. This is just beautiful pre-snap recognition, as the Raiders match up linebacker Tahir Whitehead on San Francisco’s quickest player with a free release. Mullens can trust that Goodwin is going to get open immediately and make a quick throw. Running back Matt Breida clears out the area by running deep, giving way for an easy first completion underneath.Again, another successful completion that’s a result of smart pre-snap recognition. Mullens motions running back Raheem Mostert from the backfield to the outside. As the Raiders’ linebacker follows Mostert, Mullens recognizes that Oakland’s in man coverage. The best matchup in this case was fullback Kyle Juszczyk, who is going to beat linebacker Marquel Lee every play. Now on 3rd-and-3, Mullens recognizes that the Raiders’ defensive back is playing seven yards off of wideout Pierre Gar莽on, which means that a comeback route should allow for a wide-open first down completion. While the throw seemed a tad bit late, Gar莽on was still able to make the play for a first down.On this play, the Raiders decide to play zone defense, which means that Gar莽on is able to find the soft spot in between the safety and the linebacker, giving Mullens a chance to hit him for a large gain. The 49ers’ offensive line does a good job giving the offense some time for the routes to develop and Mullens comes up with a perfect throw for a 25-yard gain. Here’s one of Mullens’ poorer throws of the evening, as he rushes his throw due to inside pressure. The 49ers’ quarterback doesn’t see the Oakland defender undercut the route and almost intercept this pass. Nine times out of ten this pass gets intercepted, but luckily for Mullens Youth Joe Staley jersey , it was just incomplete. Especially in the red zone, where the field shrinks, it’s better for the young quarterback to throw the ball away, rather than try to cram the pass into a tight window.Another poor throw that’s probably representative of Mullens’ arm strength. In this play, Gar莽on is going to run a out route, where he expects the ball to be delivered right after he reaches the top of the route. Instead, the throw is a bit slow and late, allowing the Raiders’ defensive back to deflect the pass away.More pre-snap magic from the 49ers’ second-year quarterback. As wideout Richie James motions across the formation, the Raiders’ defender follows, signaling man coverage across the board. There’s a slot corner blitz off the top, meaning Mullens’ should get rid of the ball quickly. James does a fantastic job in earning a free release and getting open across the middle of the field, allowing Mullens to hit him in stride for a 53-yard gain. (Underrated part of this clip is Goodwin celebrating as soon as James caught the pass.)Here’s Mullens’ best throw of the evening — in between four defenders. If you freeze the video four seconds in, you’ll see four Raiders’ defenders forming a square around tight end George Kittle, yet the second-year tight end makes the grab and turns it into a 71-yard gain. I don’t know what’s more amazing about this play — Mullens’ ability to fit the ball into that window of Kittle’s one-handed grab and run.For an un-drafted free agent making his first start, this was really impressive 49ers Arik Armstead Jersey , even if it was against one of the worst defenses in the NFL. Mullens was able to take advantage of his pre-snap reads, make quick decisions and get the ball out. The 49ers’ offensive line didn’t give up a single sack and a lot of that was Mullens not letting the pressure get too close. Next up is a Giants’ defense that’s middle of the pack, but should be better than what Mullens saw on Thursday. It’s going to be a tougher test, but with an extra few days of preparation and a home crowd behind him, I expect to see a similar performance from “BDN” on Monday.“He’s a bad ass” — Several teammates describe C.J. Beathard’s toughness There were several times during the 49ers match up facing the Chargers where we all thought C.J. Beathard might be dead. Thankfully, he was not. The second year quarterback has unbelievable resiliency getting up and staying in the game after taking a beating from opposing defenders. After two roughing the quarterback penalties in a row, it was almost surprising to see him stand in the pocket again. It was even more remarkable to see him back in the game after getting the wind knocked out of him after reaching for a first down late in the game as well. Head coach Kyle Shanahan says that they do tell everyone to not put themselves in harm’s way but all they can do is hope for the best. After the game Beathard remarked that in the same situation, “If I could do it again, I would do the same thing.”Here’s what some of Beathard’s teammates had to say about is toughness: Mike McGlinchey “I said to him today at the end of the game, he’s made of the right stuff man. He’s just a tough, tough dude and you love playing with a guy like that and and a guy that’s just going to continue to fight for you, and for this team. All the pride in the world to be blocking for C.J. and he’s going to continue to just keep getting better and keep standing up to everybody that wants to knock him out. “Matt Breida“He’s a tough competitor, as you can see. He’ll take the ball and run it, take big hits and get up and get back in the game. It’s going to be hard to get C.J. [out of] the game. That is what is going to make him a great quarterback.”George Kittle“C.J. is one of the most competitive people I’ve ever been around. He hates losing more than anybody I know. He played the game angry, thats’ just how he plays it. It’s awesome. I feel like he is more mature. I feel like we all are after getting a year under our belt. The guys responded to C.J. being out there and I think we responded really well. We’re looking forward to having C.J. lead us from here on out.”“He’s a bad ass. He’s good. C.J. has more grit than anyone that I know. “He’s got a severe dad bod. He can run longer than anybody I’ve ever known- which is kind of crazy -and he can take any hit. Its’ pretty cool. I don’e know how he does it. “Reuben Foster “Like I said Cheap DeForest Buckner Jersey , he ain’t no Roody-poo. He ain’t sweet. There’s nothing sweet about C.J. That’s why we got faith and we believe in C.J. but it’s really not surprising but it was surprising, I could see it in his eyes every time he came on the sidelines, “Defense, let’s go, we got your back, we run with y’all. Just by him saying that, just means a lot to me, and the defense because we know where his head was at. “When Foster was told that Beathard would do it all over again, regarding the play where he had the wind knocked out of him he replied, “He said that? Really? That’s why he’s FIRE!!”

the season against the Vikings in Minnesota was always going to be a tough task for the 49ers. The Vikings were one game away from the Super Bowl last year and upgraded their quarterback with the signing of Kirk Cousins in the offseason. But that still doesn’t help with the 49ers’ frustration in their loss on Sunday. They were in the game and had opportunities to steal a victory. Mistakes and red zone failures put winning out of reach. The red zone issues were glaring on Sunday. They were in the red zone 4 times against the Viking’s elite defense. In those opportunities http://www.authenticssanfrancisco49ers.com/cheap-k_waun-williams-jersey , they scored one touchdown and fumbled one at the goal line. It’s always going to be hard to score touchdowns against great defenses like Minnesota’s, so when the opportunity arises, the team has to punch them in. The Alfred Morris fumble at the 1 yard line hurt a lot because it would have tied the game at 10 a piece. Instead, they never got closer than 11 points. On a series in the 3rd quarter, Jimmy Garoppolo hit a jumping Pierre Garcon, but Pierre could not secure the touchdown. That led the team to a field goal. On their last red zone chance Youth Jaquiski Tartt Jersey , Jimmy sailed a pass over George Kittle from 4 yards. That led to their last points of the game.In their home opener this coming Sunday, the 49ers face the Detroit Lions, who had an awful game on Monday night. The Lions had poor showings on both sides of the ball. Matt Stafford had 4 interceptions against the Jets and the Jets offense hung 41 points on the terrible Lions defense. That’s a much easier task than facing the Vikings defense so the 49ers should have an opportunity to fix their red zone offense on Sunday. 49ers linksNot an ideal way to start the season | Down 2 guards potentially (Alper)That red zone offense needs to get fixed immediately | Fixing the offense (Inman)Other than the dropped pass, he had a good game | Good start to Kittle’s season (Williams)Only allowed one reception | Richard Sherman’s 1st game went well (Wagoner)Have to fix the red zone offense (Maiocco)Dante’s 1st TD (Martin)Defense played well. The 49ers are not getting another chance like this again; coaching the Senior Bowl and having the No. 2 selection in the draft. So they need to make this count. On a lighter note, I’m curious what Kyle Shanahan’s “offense” if you call it that will look like at the Senior Bowl. Curious because of the rules running offense and curious because his offense is one of the hardest to learn at full strength. It’s obviously going to be a loose shadow of what he runs, but I’m just curious what he goes with. Kyle Van Noy Jersey , the New England Patriots will kick off their tenth game of the season. While the team has slowly been getting healthier over the course of the week and did not declare any players out on Friday, it still will have to miss some core players against the Tennessee Titans today.Patriots inactivesThe Patriots’ list of inactives includes two starters in Rob Gronkowski (ankle/back) and Shaq Mason (calf), but no real surprises: all of the players who will be out today are either dealing with injury — and will therefore receive an additional week off ahead of the week 11 bye — or find themselves near the bottom of the depth chart at their respective positions. Or, in the case of Obi Melifonwu, were just recently added to the team.Of the six players listed as questionable on Friday’s final injury report all but Gronkowski and Mason will be active: offensive tackle Trent Brown, linebacker Dont’a Hightower Limited Stephon Gilmore Jersey , tight end Jacob Hollister, and running back Sony Michel will all play today. For Michel, it will mark his first game back since hurting his knee in week seven against the Chicago Bears.Titans inactives So where are the Patriots, Bills, Jets and Dolphins this week?On byes.In a rarity for the NFL, the entire AFC East is off in Week 11.  to fire head coach Hue Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley is the best move for his franchise moving forward.“We did what we thought was best for the organization. I think we put the organization in a better place today than it was yesterday Cleveland Browns Womens Hoodie ,” Haslam said.Haslam seemed to acknowledge that the reported power struggle between Jackson and Haley was a problem, saying, “We’re not going to put up with internal discord.”Browns G.M. John Dorsey offered similar thoughts on the decision to move on from Jackson and Haley.“What we’re trying to do is create the best environment moving forward, not only for the players but for the coaching staff,” Dorsey said.Haslam did defend the decision to bring Jackson back this season, rather than firing him at the same time he fired former G.M. Sashi Brown.“Hue was put in a pretty difficult situation his first two years with the talent we had. We thought he deserved another chance and unfortunately it didn’t work out the way we hoped it would,” Haslam said.Haslam also said firing people is always a difficult decision.“I personally spent a tremendous amount of time with Hue Jackson,” Haslam said. “This was not an easy decision. I know Todd a little less well because he hasn’t been here as long but Todd moved his family here so that was not an easy decision either.”That’s a difficult decision that Haslam has made a lot during his tenure as the Browns’ owner. He hopes the next coach he hires won’t have to be fired as quickly as so many of the previous coaches he’s hired. Before he rolled out of bed, Baker Mayfield had a premonition of near perfection.More than a hunch."When I woke up this morning, I was feeling pretty dangerous," the Browns rookie quarterback said with a smile and a hint of arrogance. "I just woke up feeling really dangerous."Someone should have warned the Atlanta Falcons.Mayfield threw a season-high three touchdown passes and rookie Nick Chubb streaked 92 yards for a TD as the Cleveland Browns ended a four-game losing streak with their best all-around performance in years, a stunning 28-16 win over the Falcons on Sunday. The Browns (3-6-1) played their most complete game this season under interim coach Gregg Williams Womens Customized Cleveland Browns Jerseys , their defensive coordinator who improved to 1-1 since replacing the fired Hue Jackson.Mayfield outplayed Falcons star quarterback Matt Ryan with an excellent outing that further justifies Cleveland's decision to take the former Oklahoma QB with the No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft.Earlier this week, Williams and offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens urged Mayfield to play loose and not worry about any mistakes. He took the message to heart."If you take a step back and watch how he managed the game in the huddle, how he managed the clock, how he managed the check systems and how he managed the overall communication on the offensive side of the ball," Williams said. "A good next step for him."Mayfield completed his first 13 passes and finished 17 of 20 for 216 yards. He threw a 28-yard scoring pass to Rashard Higgins, a 13-yarder to Chubb and 11-yarder to Duke Johnson. He went 12 of 12 for 165 yards and two TD passes in the first half, and didn't throw his first incompletion until 11:14 remained in the third quarter. Two plays later, he connected with Johnson to put the Browns ahead 21-10"It comes down to just doing my job," said Mayfield, who appreciated his coaches' trust. "Them saying they trust me enough to let the ball go, I was brought here for a reason so just go do my thing."That obviously makes me feel comfortable when they say that. It comes down to me doing my job, getting the ball out of my hands. We did a good job of having guys open www.thebrownsfootballauthentic.com , finding the holes in their defense and getting completions."Ryan threw two touchdown passes but the Falcons (4-5) had their three-game winning streak 鈥?and any playoff momentum 鈥?stopped cold."It is disappointing because we had been playing better than this the last couple of weeks. We're better than what we put out there today, but you're only as good as your last performance. Today was not good enough."And while Mayfield did damage, Chubb's record run was the backbreaker. With the Browns backed up at their 8, Chubb, who had 176 yards on 20 carries, took a handoff and headed right. He cut toward Atlanta's sideline, picked up a block and then showed his surprising breakaway speed while finishing the longest run in team history.Chubb's run broke the previous team mark held by Bobby Mitchell, who had a 90-yard TD run against Washington on Nov. 15, 1959. It was also the second-longest run by a rookie in league history, behind only Bobby Gage's 97-yard run for Pittsburgh in 1949."A great handoff," Mayfield joked. "When I handed it off, it parted like the Red Sea."The score put the Browns ahead 28-10 Cleveland Browns T-Shirt , an unexpected and unescapable hole for the Falcons, who blew a chance to get closer in the fourth when they were stopped inches short of the goal line."I told the team I thought we took a step back," said Falcons coach Dan Quinn. "That's tough to see and tough to say. I also told them we must regroup. We're trying to fight for consistency, and we certainly made improvement over the last three weeks, and we didn't get the job done."JULIO MILESTONEOne of the few positives for the Falcons was receiver Julio Jones, who had 107 yards and became the fastest player to reach 10,000 with a 30-yard catch in the second quarter. Jones reached the 10,000-yard plateau in his 104th game, 11 quicker than Calvin Johnson."He's amazing," Ryan said of Jones, who is tied with Hall of Famer Randy Moss with 45 career games with 100 yards or more receiving, the most for a player in his first eight seasons. "He's a unique and special player. He's as talented as any player probably that has ever played. His skillset is phenomenal. He works extremely hard. He's been awesome to be around for his entire career. It's fun to be a small part of what he's done so far."WISHBONE WISHKitchens joked earlier in the week he might bring back the "wishbone" 鈥?a three-back formation popular with college teams in the 1970s. And sure enough Cleveland Browns Hats , the Browns used a variation of the wishbone on several plays."It was something, wasn't it?" Mayfield said, drawing laughter. "It is something different. We threw a different look. We moved the ball well. It was just a thing to switch up the tempo, and I think it was great for our offense."STRANGE CALLWhile Mayfield was sublime in the first half, the Browns did have one interception.Running back Dontrell Hilliard took a pitch and threw an ill-advised pass back toward Mayfield, who was well covered and the ball was picked by Falcons safety Damonte Kazee, who leads the league with five interceptions.UP NEXTFalcons: Host the Dallas Cowboys on Nov. 18.Browns: Bye week.
