With 17 career starts in three seasons Jordan Howard Jersey , Los Angeles Rams inside linebacker Ramik Wilson might not look like a grizzled veteran.

However, at a position where the second and third-most experienced players have combined for six career starts and the other three are rookies, the 25-year-old Wilson certainly qualifies.

"We have a lot of youth at that position. We have a lot of guys, other than Mark Barron, that haven't been starters before. To be able to get (Ramik) in free agency was great," linebackers coach Joe Barry said.

The Rams needed to add experience after trading starting linebacker Alec Ogletree to the New York Giants. Cory Littleton had started five games in two seasons while backing up Barron, but would get the first chance to replace Ogletree at middle linebacker. Bryce Hager's only start came in Week 17 last season when the Rams rested players ahead of their home playoff game.

Wilson fit the bill after starting 11 games and recording 61 tackles for Kansas City in 2016 Jabaal Sheard Jersey , but saw his playing time reduced last season after the Chiefs traded for former second-round draft pick Reggie Ragland. When the Chiefs did not tender a contract to Wilson, he agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Rams in March weeks after they agreed to trade Ogletree.

The opportunity to play for defensive coordinator Wade Phillips was something Wilson could not pass up, especially with the chance to move back to his more natural position playing on the weak side.

"It just made perfect sense," Wilson said. "I can run to the ball and I can flow. I can make plays. I can do what I'm supposed to do."

Barry liked Wilson coming out of college at Georgia, and his subsequent experience as both a starter and backup for the Chiefs made Wilson even more appealing.

"As an NFL player, you've got to prepare subtly different if you're the guy as the starter compared to if you're the backup. He's been in both roles, so I think that means a lot Marcus Peters Jersey ," Barry said.

Wilson's ability to adjust was evident during OTAs. With Barron sitting out because of injuries, Wilson was paired with Littleton as part of the first-team defense. The two quickly meshed, and the partnership seems to have only grown as Wilson and Littleton continued to work together early in training camp, with Barron being worked back in cautiously.

Barry could not take credit for the chemistry Wilson and Littleton have displayed.

"When two guys go out and they take over 200 snaps together in OTAs, they are going to build a rapport together. It just happens naturally," Barry said.

Despite the inexperience of the group, Wilson likes how they are progressing. How the linebackers perform might determine whether the play of the Rams defense matches the hysteria created by signing defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and trading for cornerbacks Aqib Talib and Marcus Peter in the offseason Robert Woods Jersey , and Wilson has not seen anything to indicate the inside linebackers are not ready for the challenge.

"They are right along and they are ready to go, the whole room," Wilson said. "We've got a lot of expectations, but we know we've got the talent. We're just putting in the work each day now and taking it one day at a time. That's all we are going to do, and the results will show at the end of the day."

NOTES: Rams head coach Sean McVay said Saturday there was no update regarding All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald's holdout, but they have been in contact via telephone. "I spoke with him in the last day or so, and we're just checking in Jim McMahon Jersey , seeing how he's doing," McVay said.

Offensive line coach Frank Pollack has welcomed a veteran left tackle and a rookie center during his four months in Cincinnati 鈥?a turn of events he called a "heck of a deal." The Bengals' emphasis is expected to shift as the NFL draft enters its second day.

The Bengals upgraded their offensive line by taking Ohio State center Billy Price with the 21st overall pick. They have the 14th pick in the second round on Friday, and two more in the third round. They're likely looking to upgrade a defense that slipped to the bottom half of the league and was 30th in yards allowed rushing last season.

They customarily stock up on cornerbacks, and could use help at linebacker.

鈥?Tom Brady wore a black wool stocking cap and a big smile. Bill Belichick sported a full suit. The guy in the shark costume Jamie Meder Jersey , well, he was just trying to not wear out his welcome. The New England Patriots were the first team on stage Monday at Super Bowl opening night, the kickoff to the week of buildup to the big game. They gathered at Xcel Energy Center, the hockey rink and home of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild, for their first on-site media obligation after landing in Minneapolis in the afternoon. The Philadelphia Eagles, whose charter flight arrived Sunday, had the second half of the NFL’s annual assembly of hundreds of reporters, camera operators and just-for-fun “journalists” surrounding players and coaches with a ticketed crowd looking on from the seats.Brady led his team out of the tunnel in the set made to resemble a giant glacier in honor of the host state’s wintry climate. Swarmed by a 12-deep pack of media at his podium in advance of his eighth career Super Bowl, Brady was asked often about his family ties to the area and his desire to keep his children from criticism and scrutiny. He fielded a query about his most attractive teammate, nodding to Danny Amendola, Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski. And, of course, he fielded a few football questions. As the Patriots filed out, Belichick met his Eagles counterpart, Doug Pederson, for a handshake and a photo op that produced a jarring juxtaposition of their wardrobe selections. Pederson had on a white polo shirt with jeans and a cap.Belichick even flashed some smiles during his interview session, including questions from former figure skating star and lifelong Patriots fan Nancy Kerrigan. Working the room as a special correspondent for “Inside Edition,” Kerrigan later asked Amendola about his favorite Super Bowl party food.“Nachos,” Amendola quickly responded.Eagles center Jason Kelce sported an Elmer Fudd-style wool cap with earflaps that the entire team was given as host-community gifts upon landing. He looked ready for an ice fishing expedition.“If you’re in Minnesota, you might as well do as the Minnesotans do,” Kelce said.Every player and coach on the team is required to be present, so they don’t get fined, as Marshawn Lynch reminded the football world during his appearance with the Seattle Seahawks three years ago . That includes the injured players not in concussion protocol Jamon Brown Jersey , so ACL reconstruction patients Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz and left tackle Jason Peters were part of the crowd, too, even though their knees won’t let them play in the big game.“We’re all in the building every day. Carson, I think he shows up at 5:30 or 6, something like that,” Peters said. “We’re just all embracing it and trying to help our position out.”The aforementioned guy in the shark costume, wearing a credential for “TYT Sports,” was attempting to dive into Patriots center David Andrews’ deepest fears. Andrews readily called himself a “scaredy cat” and acknowledged a fear of clowns.“Clowns are out,” he said. “Birthday parties. Circuses. Clowns are a no go.”In the thick of the throngs of media on the floor was 39-year-old Patriots linebacker James Harrison, the oldest active defensive player in the league who’s at his third Super Bowl after reaching two with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He wasn’t interested in reflecting on that or much of anything else.“I’m just blocking this out,” Harrison said, after declaring the questions from reporters the most annoying part of his Super Bowl week. “Football is always the focus in my head. I’m running through defenses right now. I’m not really listening to what you’re saying.”Wait, why such malignant thoughts about media night?“Because it’s unnecessary. It’s useless,” Harrison said. “You ask me questions that don’t matter, that don’t have any consequence or nothing about the game.”Patriots guard Shaquille Mason was more of a willing participant in the silly side of the event. Asked what precious metal Harrison reminds him of, Mason replied, “some kind of iron.”Up in the seats was Patriots bushy-bearded defensive coordinator Matt Patricia, in blue jeans, a leather jacket and a pencil stuck behind his ear. Leaning back in a seat as if he were a hockey fan watching a game, Patricia complimented a reporter for his focus in asking a repeat query about his impending hire as Detroit’s head coach. Patricia predictably declined to entertain any questions about the Lions.“I am very concerned right now about making sure our players have the best possible experience,” Patricia said.He meant the Super Bowl itself. Media night, well, for most of the coaches Denzelle Good Jersey , players and even some of the media itself, that’s one to get over and get through.“Can we go home now, coach?” one player playfully yelled to Belichick as he walked by his podium. To which Belichick replied, “I don’t know. We haven’t heard the whistle yet.”

Head coaching changes get the most attention, and new guys normally decide who their coordinators will be.

For 2018, most offensive coordinator alterations came from incumbent coaches.

Some former coordinators moved up: Matt Nagy from Kansas City to Chicago, Pat Shurmur from Minnesota to the New York Giants. Some OCs were canned: Pittsburgh's Todd Haley, who landed in Cleveland; Mike Shula, going from the Panthers to the Giants. Others are returning to familiar ground: Joe Philbin in Green Bay, Greg Olson in Oakland.

Many simply got promoted.

Here are six intriguing new offensive coordinators:

Todd Haley, Cleveland 鈥?A former head coach with the Chiefs who spent the past six seasons in a love/hate relationship with Ben Roethlisberger in Pittsburgh, Haley faces a whole new set of challenges with the Browns.

Sure, he and Roethlisberger often quarreled, but they also won lots of games with a potent, dynamic attack. If you have a short memory, let us fill you in: Cleveland has won a single game, in total, over the past two seasons. Its offense has ranged from anemic to putrid.

So Haley steps in with the charge of grooming (or pushing rapidly) the first overall draft pick, Baker Mayfield, as the starting quarterback. The head man in Cleveland, Hue Jackson, also has a background on offense and some ideas of his own on how to move the ball. Of course, Jackson also has that 1-31 record.

"That is what appealed to me 鈥?the challenge and the people I was going to be working alongside of Carlos Henderson Jersey ," Haley said when hired.

Best of luck, Todd.

Norv Turner, Carolina 鈥?One of the most successful OCs in NFL history 鈥?not so much as a head coach, with a 114-122-1 record 鈥?Turner tries to re-establish Cam Newton as an elite passer. Newton remains a dangerous runner and creator, but he's never developed the fundamentals to be a true pocket passer, and as he gets later into his career, the 2015 league MVP needs those basics in his repertoire.

Turner has been an effective QB whisperer for decades, going back to helping Troy Aikman become a Hall of Famer. Turner has a strong relationship with Panthers coach Ron Rivera, and will get lots of leeway in running the offense, particularly in resurrecting the deep passing game.

"I think Cam gets that Norv is here to help," Rivera said.

John DeFilippo, Minnesota 鈥?DeFilippo moves from the Eagles, where he masterfully helped Carson Wentz reach prominence, then was of immeasurable aid for Nick Foles in the Super Bowl run. DeFilippo was handed an expensive bauble, too.

The Vikings signed Kirk Cousins to the largest guaranteed contract in NFL history after discarding their three quarterbacks of 2018, including Case Keenum, who helped Minnesota reach the conference title game. With short-term 2018 sensation Dalvin Cook returning to the backfield, a solid and deep receiving group and a strong line, expectations in the Twin Cities are for the Vikes to take that next huge step.

"He's been a great communicator, and I love his passion for the game," Cousins said of DeFilippo.

Joe Philbin, Green Bay 鈥?From 2007-11, with the transition from Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers a part of it Terrance Williams Jersey , Philbin was the Packers OC. The team's success, including a Super Bowl title, got him the head job in Miami, where he went 24-28.

Following two seasons working in Indianapolis with the offensive line, Philbin Part 2 begins on the tundra.

Rodgers has been somewhat vocal about changes in Green Bay that didn't quite meet his approval. So the symbiosis between A-Rod and Philbin will be critical.

"Change can be really good ... any time you're in a situation where you've had the same type of things going on for a number of years, it's nice to change it up in some positions, yeah," Rodgers said.

Matt LaFleur, Tennessee 鈥?LaFleur rapidly has gone from QB coach in Atlanta 鈥?Matt Ryan had his MVP season with LaFleur on hand two years ago 鈥?to overseeing the Rams' offensive turnaround. Having such success with Jared Goff and Todd Gurley in LA, he heads to Nashville, where the passing game has been dormant.

If Marcus Mariota is to become a franchise quarterback, it must happen soon. LaFleur doesn't have a lot to work with in Music City, but he didn't seem to in SoCal either. And unlike with the Rams, where coach Sean McVay called many plays, the offense is LaFleur's baby now.

"This is something when you get into the coaching profession, you're always looking for the next step," LaFleur said.

Randy Fichtner, Pittsburgh 鈥?Roethlisberger should have a more peaceful co-existence with Fichtner, and the offensive tempo figures to speed up.

This should be the best attack in the AFC, anchored by RB Le'Veon Bell and WR Antonio Brown. Fichtner needs to ensure it is close to the top given the question marks on defense.

"He knows what we do well," Brown said. "He knows some things we can work on and some things that (we can do) better. But we're in great hands with him."

There were no demonstrations by any players during the singing of the national anthem Thursday night at the Hall of Fame game.

All players and coaches for the Chicago Bears and Baltimore Ravens stood as the NFL's preseason began.

The NFL modified its national anthem protocol in May Xavier Woods Jersey , prohibiting any sort of demonstrations for 2018, but allowing players to remain in the locker room during "The Star-Spangled Banner" if they chose to. Individual teams would be responsible for disciplining any demonstrators.

The players' union filed a grievance about the policy change, and late last month, the new policy was put on hold while the NFL and NFLPA work on a resolution.

Those demonstrations were begun by then-49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in 2016 when he kneeled during the anthem to protest racial inequality and social injustice. The kneeling and other displays of protest spread leaguewide, particularly when President Trump suggested team owners fire players who didn't stand for the anthem.

On Thursday night, everyone on the sideline stood.

"We as a group talked about it and decided that was what we were doing," new Bears coach Matt Nagy said. "It's for unity and togetherness. The guys are really excited to come up with one deal as a team. They were all out there; from what we talked about, it happened."

NEW YORK JETS (5-11)

OPEN CAMP: July 26, Atlantic Health Jets Training Center Rodger Saffold Jersey , Florham Park, New Jersey

LAST YEAR: Rebuilding Jets finished 5-11 for second straight season under coach Todd Bowles, but exceeded expectations by many who predicted New York to have trouble winning more than couple games. New York was competitive in nearly every game, and team credited Bowles' culture change for improved attitude around facility. Both Bowles and GM Mike Maccagnan received two-year contract extensions after season. QB Josh McCown had career year at 38, setting personal bests with 2,926 yards passing, 19 TD passes and five TD runs before missing final three games with broken left hand. His exceptional leadership was also praised by teammates. WR Robby Anderson emerged as legitimate deep threat with 63 catches, 941 yards and seven TD receptions. Defense struggled to get to QBs, but solid play by rookie safeties Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye was big positive.

IMPORTANT ADDITIONS: Rookie QB Sam Darnold Abry Jones Jersey , CB Trumaine Johnson, RB Isaiah Crowell, QB Teddy Bridgewater, WR Terrelle Pryor, LB Avery Williamson, C Spencer Long, C Travis Swanson, DE Henry Anderson, S J.J. Wilcox Thomas Davis Jersey , K Cairo Santos.

IMPORTANT LOSSES: DE Muhammad Wilkerson, LB Demario Davis, RB Matt Forte, TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins, DE Kony Ealy, C Wesley Johnson, K Chandler Catanzaro.

CAMP NEEDS: Familiar theme for Jets and their fans: all eyes on QBs. But this summer will be particularly intriguing with Darnold 鈥?No. 3 overall pick out of USC 鈥?being given every opportunity to win starting job in competition with McCown and Bridgewater. Darnold will have to show he can operate system of new offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates, promoted from QBs coach after John Morton was fired. WR Quincy Enunwa (neck) and Pryor (ankle) coming back from injuries that ended seasons early. Long, coming off knee injury D.J. Reader Jersey , will be looked at to anchor O-line after not practicing in offseason. Finding consistent pass rusher at OLB will also be key, with recent draft picks Lorenzo Mauldin, Dylan Donahue in mix of players needing to prove themselves.

EXPECTATIONS: Acting owner Christopher Johnson has made it clear playoffs are not mandatory this season, although Jets have failed to reach postseason for last seven years. Team made lots of key moves in offseason, with selection of Darnold re-energizing fan base waiting for legitimate franchise QB for decades. Still, progress will be expected from team with sights set on making even more noise next season 鈥?especially with New York expected to have NFL's most salary cap room heading into 2019 offseason.

Thomas Vanek learned early in his career how tough it is to win in the playoffs.

When Vanek and the Buffalo Sabres beat the Philadelphia Flyers in six games in 2006 to advance Quincy Wilson Jersey , the rookie winger looked across the locker room at 37-year-old Teppo Numminen, who was on the verge of tears. Numminen had never made it out of the first round in his previous 16 NHL seasons and was overjoyed.

”It hit me right there and then, `Man this is hard,”’ Vanek said.

Vanek is now on the other side. In the playoffs for the seventh time, he is the Columbus Blue Jackets‘ oldest player at 34. Just like Rick Nash in Boston, postseason struggles and inconsistencies have followed Vanek his entire career. Based on his play down the stretch and in Game 1 against Washington, he looks poised for some playoff redemption.

”A very consistent scorer throughout his year and has a lot to prove and wants to win the Stanley Cup Rico Gathers Jersey ,” Columbus general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said Friday. ”That’s why he’s excited to be here. He wants to prove people wrong, if they think that he can’t do it in the playoffs. He wants to show that he can, and he had a good start.”

Vanek had a goal and an assist to help the Blue Jackets take a 1-0 series lead on the Capitals, and young teammate Artemi Panarin scored the game-winner to finish with three points – two more than he had in Chicago’s first-round sweep at the hands of the Predators a year ago. Kekalainen pointed out Panarin was a point-a-game player for the Blackhawks in the playoffs two years ago, so hold up on the reputation rehab there.

The same goes for Capitals center Evgeny Kuznetsov, who has been up and down in the playoffs. The 25-year-old from the same town in Russia as Panarin already has more goals in one game this year than he did in the 2016 playoffs, when Washington lost in the second round.

Vanek and Nash know they’re running out of time to win the Cup and make a difference on that journey.

Nash Jon Weeks Jersey , who drew two penalties and played over 17 minutes in his return from injury in the Bruins’ Game 1 blowout of the Maple Leafs, has seen his goal production drop by half from the regular season to the playoffs over the course of his career. The 33-year-old trade-deadline pickup should get plenty of chances to show he can still be a playoff performer.

”He’s an important player for us,” Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said. ”That deal was made for a reason. He’s an elite player … makes us more of a threat (as) a team. He’s just a proven player in this league that can finish, that can win pucks and get to the net.”

Getting to the net has never been a problem for Vanek, whose power-play goal in Game 1 came from crashing the crease. But he hasn’t always found it easy to score in the playoffs and has struggled with a minus-16 rating in six previous appearances with the Sabres, Canadiens and Wild.

Vanek didn’t know how he would fit in with Columbus, though the reviews from coach John Tortorella are positive – and honest. Vanek’s propensity for defensive miscues and mistakes with the puck Cornelius Lucas Jersey , and his sometimes frustrating inconsistencies, have given Tortorella and others grey hairs.

”I think he really is thriving and is excited about the role he has, that he was and we were in a playoff hunt and now he’s in the playoffs,” Tortorella said. ”I can see why he gives coaches nightmares in some of the things he does. I get that. But I think sometimes you need to ignore some of that and allow him to play and not get in his way. I think he’s been terrific.”

Several times leading up to the start of the playoffs and even after his goal, Vanek was asked about making an important contribution in the playoffs. Each time he changed the subject to the need for someone, anyone, on the team to have success.

”You can tell how excited everyone is Jordan Poyer Jersey ,” Vanek said. ”It doesn’t matter if you score or not.”

Scoring or not, making a long run a reality would be Vanek’s real redemption.

The Panthers have announced that defensive backs coach Curtis Fuller resigned following an investigation into complaints of inappropriate conduct.

Panthers spokesman Steve Drummond released a statement Friday that said "after approaching Coach Fuller with the findings of an investigation into complaints of inappropriate conduct, we accepted his resignation."

The 39-year-old Fuller joined the Panthers in 2013 as a coaching assistant after playing in the NFL.

He took over the secondary before the 2017 season.

The team has not yet named a replacement.

The move comes with Panthers owner Jerry Richardson still under investigation by the NFL for sexual and racial misconduct in the workplace.

There’s no questioning C.J. Prosise’s talent Jihad Ward Jersey , only his ability to remain on the football field.

The third-year running back for the Seattle Seahawks has been plagued by injuries throughout his first two years in the NFL. From serious ailments like a fractured scapula, broken wrist bone and high-ankle sprains to more minor ones like groin, hamstring and hip strains, Prosise has been sidelined constantly.

With Chris Carson back from injury himself and Seattle using their first-round pick on San Diego State back Rashaad Penny, there is an urgency for Prosise to be able to stay healthy and contribute regularly this season.

Prosise spent the offseason trying to get physically ready to make the most of what could be a final opportunity with Seattle.

”I feel like I’m in the best shape of my life,” Prosise said. ”I feel like I can do anything on the field. I feel 100 percent and ready to go so I’m excited for this camp. We play a physical game and injuries happen and you can’t avoid it. This offseason was geared around getting my body prepared to take the punishment that my body needs to take and so my body is in that position to do that now. So I’m ready to play.”

Prosise buckled down with a personal trainer this offseason and was focused on putting himself in a position to withstand the types of injuries that had hampered him his first two seasons.

”That was a big change I made,” Prosise said. ”Before this I didn’t put as much work as I should have been putting in. Now, I’ve kind of figured out my regimen. And also just getting on the field every day and working with drills, specific running back drills and stuff. For the most part hitting the weight room really hard and getting my body toned up and ready for the season is really what’s helped the most.”

Prosise has played in just 11 games in his two years in Seattle. But the limited action was still enough to show the type of player he can be when he’s in peak form. As a rookie in his first career start Ricky Wagner Jersey , he gained 153 yards from scrimmage in a victory over a New England Patriots team that would go on to the win the Super Bowl. His ability to perform both as a runner and as a receiver out of the backfield caused fits for the Patriots defense.

A week later, Prosise broke free for a 72-yard touchdown run against the Philadelphia Eagles. Then Prosise was sidelined when he broke his shoulder blade late in the first half and missed the rest of the season.

A pair of high-ankle sprains held him to just five games played a year ago as well.

Maybe it’s the same tease he’s provided in his first two camps with Seattle but Prosise is again drawing praise in the early stages of training camp.

”I’m so fired up for him,” head coach Pete Carroll said. ”He’s always been such a terrific potential guy and he has just not been able to stay healthy. He’s leaner and stronger. He just is more fit, which screams at how hard he worked and how important this is to him. Couldn’t send a better message.”

The old adage that your greatest ability is your availability couldn’t be more apt when it comes to Prosise. All of his potential will go unrealized if he’s not available on Sundays due to injuries. But as Seattle tries to right a rushing attack that managed just one rushing touchdown from the running back position all last season, having an athlete like Prosise at its disposal would be welcome.

NOTES: LB Joshua Perry, who announced his retirement from the NFL earlier this week due to concussions, told NBC’s ”Today Show” on Thursday that he believes the NFL is doing enough when it comes to concussions. ”I think the hardest part.is the research is a little bit fuzzy. I think that we do a great job in terms of the protocol that the NFL has. Coaches aren’t pressuring players to get back, I think players feel their own type of pressure to be there for their teammates.” Perry had a long post on social media earlier this week announcing he was stepping away after suffering a sixth concussion in the opening days of training camp. Perry was a fourth-round pick of the Chargers in 2016. He signed with Seattle in June.

Bradley Chubb and Von Miller are big fans of one another. Now they're teammates, too.

Seven months after calling his team a bunch of softies Randy Gregory Jersey , Broncos general manager John Elway picked one of the toughest players in the draft in Chubb at No. 5.

The prolific edge rusher from North Carolina State is a high-motor pass rusher with a rare mix of speed, strength and savvy that helps him beat double teams to get to the quarterback or stuff the running back.

Despite constant attention his senior season, Chubb collected 26 tackles for loss, 10 sacks and the Bronco Nagurski Trophy as the nation's top defender.

It's safe to say Miller approved of the pick.

"Ahhhh! Ahhhh! Ahhha!" Miller hollered in a videotaped selfie as St. Jude patient Austin Denton of Albuquerque, New Mexico, announced his beloved Broncos' pick Thursday night.

It's safe to say Elway and his staff had a similar reaction when the Cleveland Browns, thought to be high on Chubb, instead took Ohio State D-back Denzel Ward at No. 4 to go with their surprising pick of QB Baker Mayfield at No. 1.

Elway said his phone blew up with "a ton" of trade offers from other teams desperate to move up to fifth, "but we really wanted Bradley and we're thrilled that he was still there."

Coach Vance Joseph said seeing Bradley "there at five was definitely a surprise 鈥?and for sure exciting."

Chubb is Denver's highest draft pick since Elway chose Miller second overall in 2011 and he immediately upgrades an already stout defensive front where Miller Jake Fisher Jersey , Shaq Barrett and Shane Ray suddenly look even more formidable.

Chubb said at the NFL combine that he'd love to land in Denver and learn firsthand from his hero.

"If I got to play with Von Miller that would be crazy. He's such a great player, such a dynamic player. Definitely could learn a lot from him," Chubb said.

Chubb also provides the antidote for the constant double- and triple-teams that opponents have thrown at Miller over the last two years. The Super Bowl 50 MVP's production slipped following DeMarcus Ware's injury-marred 2016 and retirement last summer.

Coming off a 5-11 debacle, the Broncos sorely needed a quarterback upgrade this offseason and they filled that void in free agency with the signing of Case Keenum to a two-year, $36 million deal.

That left Elway with the option of bypassing this year's deep class of promising but problematic quarterbacks to grab a blue chipper.

Still, few foresaw Chubb slipping past the first few picks.

Last week, Miller said he'd love to play alongside Chubb.

"He's Khalil Mack and Von Miller put together," Miller said with a laugh. "He is a great player and I would love to have him on my team. You don't come across a guy like that often. We don't (normally) have the No. 5 pick in the draft. I hope we don't have a high pick like that for a while. So if we can steal a player like that, I'm all for it."

That was an echo of Chubb's comments at the NFL combine when he said Nick Vigil Jersey , "I try to take Khalil Mack and Von Miller and put them into one person," modeling Mack's strength and Miller's speed.

Chubb comes into the NFL a better run stuffer than Miller was as a rookie. Like any great pass rusher, though, he said he takes the most pride in getting to the quarterback.

Even with a stockpile of moves, however, Chubb knows he'll have to refine his game in the NFL, and that's where Miller's tutelage will come in.

"It's definitely going to have to get fine-tuned because there's no weak offensive linemen in the NFL," Chubb said.

PORTLAND Arian Foster Jersey , Ore. — The No. 3 playoff seed in the Western Conference is on the line Wednesday night at Moda Center when the Portland Trail Blazers play host to the Utah Jazz is what will have all the feel of a playoff game.

Portland and Utah come into the final regular-season game with a 48-33 record, but the teams have taken decidedly different routes to get there.

The Trail Blazers enjoyed a 13-game win streak in late February and early March but enter Wednesday’s contest coming off a four-game losing streak. Utah, meanwhile, joins the Houston Rockets as the hottest teams in the NBA. Since Jan. 24, when they were 19-28, the Jazz are 29-5 and have won six straight coming into the showdown at Portland.

The Jazz aren’t just winning games, they’re beating opponents up. In their recent stretch of victories Jeff Heuerman Jersey , they’ve defeated Minnesota 121-97, trounced the L.A. Clippers 117-95 and topped the L.A. Lakers 112-97. On Tuesday, Utah annihilated Golden State 119-79 at Vivint Smart Home Arena.

“More than anything, I’m just really proud of our guys,” Utah coach Quin Snyder told reporters. “What these guys did collectively to get better. … I don’t want to diminish what this group has accomplished.”

But the Jazz know there is more to accomplish.

“The next thing is getting that No. 3 spot and homecourt advantage (in the first round of the playoffs),” Utah rookie guard Donovan Mitchell said. “That’s our big goal now.”

Utah will be playing the second of back-to-back games at Moda Center, but Snyder used no player more than 28 minutes in the rout of the defending champion Warriors.

More than a week ago Case Keenum Jersey , Portland was one victory away from locking down homecourt advantage. That win never came with the Blazers losing in succession to Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Denver on a highly discouraging road trip. Now, it comes down to one more chance to clinch the No. 3 spot in the West.

Portland’s offense has been struggling in recent games, but never more so than Monday night at Denver, when the Blazers shot 33 percent from the field, including 7 for 33 from 3-point range. Was it a matter of just missing good shots?

“We can shoot the ball Chad Thomas Jersey ,” Portland point guard Damian Lillard said after the Denver game. “If we were shooting bad because we were taking bad shots, then that would be a problem. But we are getting good looks. … We shoot the ball. That’s what our team does. It’s not a concern. It always comes back.”

Portland coach Terry Stotts said he was encouraged by the defense the Blazers played at Denver, holding the Nuggets to 37.3 percent shooting. Another good sign: The performance of center Jusuf Nurkic, who scored 20 points and collected 19 rebounds — including a career-high eight off the offensive glass — against his old team. Nurkic’s matchup with Utah’s Rudy Gobert will be a key one Wednesday night.

The Blazers will be helped by the return of power forward Ed Davis, who missed four games with a sprained ankle. The veteran reserve, who provides rebounding, defense and energy off the Portland bench Taven Bryan Jersey , came back to play 15 minutes against the Nuggets and should be closer to 100 percent against the Jazz.

Portland’s starting small forward, Moe Harkless, remains out after undergoing knee surgery March 27. He is expected to be back for the playoffs.

Former Green Bay Packers running back Ahman Green avoided jail time under a plea agreement in which a felony child-abuse charge was dismissed. He was sentenced to 18 months of probation.

The 41-year-old Green on Thursday pleaded no contest to criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct. Prosecutors amended the child-abuse charge to a nonabuse charge of damage to property.

Court documents show Green was arrested at his home in June after a report he had struck his daughter in the head. Green says in a statement he entered the plea to spare his daughter the emotional trauma of trial.

Green is the Packers' career rushing leader with 8,322 yards.

Making the Super Bowl this season isn't totally on the minds of the Arizona Cardinals at present. They're setting daily goals of improvement amid injury rehabilitation.

While the Super Bowl is the end goal John Franklin-Myers Jersey , of course, new Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks had a different kind of message for his players after they arrived at the team facility Tuesday for the first day of the offseason conditioning program.

"He always speaks about 'Let's not talk about the Super Bowl,' and that's one thing that I admire," veteran linebacker Chandler Jones said of Wilks. "You can get sidetracked looking at the Super Bowl. You kind of have to look at the steps leading to there."

The Cardinals have plenty of steps ahead of them. After an 8-8 season lowlighted by injuries, coach Bruce Arians retired, as did quarterback Carson Palmer. Wilks was hired and a new coaching staff, along with several new players, have begun preparations for this season.

One big task at the outset of workouts is getting to know new teammates and new coaches. It's a work in progress, but Wilks' message and theme of "win the day" seemed to strike a chord with veterans who remain from the Arians regime.

"Everybody is excited to build a strong foundation for what we're trying to do here. Everything is focused on the details," said offensive lineman D.J. Humphries, who battled knee injuries and was limited to five games last season. "Everybody's trying to get to the Super Bowl, but you can't get there looking into the stars that day. All the small things have to add up."

Tuesday was for weight room work and running on the practice field as players get back into shape. Strength and conditioning coach Buddy Morris said while it was a good day he didn't like everything he saw from the players.

"I saw some great things. I saw some things that make me want to go home and drink heavily," Morris said. "We've got a lot of work to do, obviously ... fatigue is always going to be a factor in everything."

The Cardinals have a number of players on the mend looking for bounce-back seasons. Star running back David Johnson, who severely injured his wrist in Week 1 and didn't play again, appears to be back to full range of motion.

"He's a freak," Morris said. "I have to protect David from David, because he always wants to load the bar with more and more weight."

New quarterback Sam Bradford participated in Tuesday's workout and is coming back from a knee injury that cost him most of last season with Minnesota. Bradford has a history of knee surgeries.

"We'll identify what Sam needs to do and put him on a program that's based on him the individual," Morris said.

NOTES: Humphries, who plays left tackle, said he'd be ready to start the season. ... The Cardinals announced that the team's four exclusive rights free agents 鈥?CB C.J. Goodwin, RB Elijhaa Penny, DL Olsen Pierre and OL John Wetzel 鈥?have all signed their one-year contracts for the 2018 season. Wetzel started 11 games and Pierre seven last season.

A Michigan company has filed a federal lawsuit against LeBron James Cody Whitehair Jersey , claiming his digital media platform stole an idea.

Adventure Enterprise is suing ”Uninterrupted,” which was co-founded by James with business partner Maverick Carter, and Cree Nix for use of a ”Shop Talk,” concept.

The Detroit-based company claims it shared the idea with Nix from 2014 to 2016, identifying her as an employee of ”Uninterrupted.”

Last year, ”Uninterrupted” aired ”The Shop Tyrann Mathieu Jersey ,” where James and others talk in a barber shop.

Alabama recently released a trailer for ”Shop Talk” that shows coach Nick Saban and former Crimson Tide star wide receiver Julio Jones talking in a barber shop. Earlier this month, ”Uninterrupted” sent a letter to Alabama , citing concerns over copyright infringement and intellectual property.

The Philadelphia Phillies have stayed near the top of the National League standings halfway through the season thanks in large part to their strong play at Citizens Bank Park.

They’ll close out their first-half home slate this week with two games against the Baltimore Orioles. Right-handers Zach Eflin and Alex Cobb will face off Tuesday night.

The Phillies enter the series at 45-37 and are 28-16 at home. The team had an off-day Monday after taking three of four against the Washington Nationals, and the Phillies won Sunday in 13 innings with a walk-off homer from catcher Andrew Knapp.

“A win like that, especially against Washington, is huge for our season right now Jeff Heath Jersey ,” Knapp told NBC Sports Philadelphia. “It shows we’re here to stay. A lot of games left and we’ve got to keep playing well, but we’re up there with a lot of those teams.”

The Phillies have won 13 of their last 20 games and are firmly in second place in the National League East less than two weeks before the All-Star break. They’ll try to pad their win total against the Orioles (24-59), who have the worst record in baseball.

Eflin (6-2, 3.02 ERA) will be making his first start of July after a stellar month of June for the Phillies. The 24-year-old went 5-0 with a 1.76 ERA and 0.978 WHIP in five starts last month.

Eflin had one of the most impressive starts of his three-year major league career in his last outing. He threw seven scoreless innings against the New York Yankees, giving up only four hits while striking out six batters.

“Eflin was just outstanding,” Phillies manager Gabe Kapler told reporters about Eflin after his last start. “…He certainly wasn’t rattled by anything. When he had base runners on Tony Dorsett Jersey , it’s almost like he got calmer. He did a really good job of controlling the running game and controlling his fastball. His working north-south better than he has before. And in June, he was dominant the whole month against some of baseball’s best teams.”

Eflin has never faced Baltimore in 32 career starts. Cobb (2-9, 6.75) will also be making his first appearance against the Phillies in his seven-year major league career.

The Orioles are 3-11 in Cobb’s 14 starts in 2018, including a loss to the Seattle Mariners last Wednesday. Cobb allowed five runs on eight hits and three walks over 4 2/3 innings in that start. It was the seventh time this season he’s surrendered at least five earned runs in a game.

“The inconsistency on my end, really never dealt with it before,” Cobb told mlb.com after the game. “But it’s really unacceptable to keep going out there and having a good game Devontae Booker Jersey , and a game where you don’t give much of an opportunity for your team to win.”

The Phillies are 1-0 against the Orioles this season. They won a game in Baltimore on May 16 and will play another game at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on July 12 to make up a rained-out contest.

TORONTO — The Toronto Raptors appeared to have control of their first-round series against Washington Wizards when they won the first two games.

They also thought they had Game 4 within their grasp Stephen Hauschka Jersey , and yet the series is tied 2-2.

The pressure will be on the No. 1 Eastern Conference seed when they host the No. 8 seed Wizards in Game 5 of the best-of-seven series at the Air Canada Centre.

“I feel like both teams protected home court, now it’s the best-of-three,” Wizards guard John Wall said. “Somebody is going to have to win on the opponent’s court to win. We have a good opportunity to go there with some momentum, going into Game 5, and we want to take full advantage and try to get that win.”

It could have been different. With just under five minutes to play in Game 4 at Washington on Sunday, Wizards guard Bradley Beal fouled out. He had scored 31 points in 32 minutes.

The Wizards did not fold, however, but the Raptors did. With Wall leading the way, the Wizards went on to defeat the Raptors 106-98 to even the series.

“This one was tougher, because I thought we had it under control,” Raptors coach Dwane Casey said.

Wall had 27 points, 14 assists and six rebounds in playing 43 minutes on Sunday.

After dropping the first two games in Toronto, Washington won both games at home, including a 122-103 decision in Game 3.

The Raptors led by 14 points during the third quarter on Sunday, but the score was tied at 92 when Beal fouled out.

The Raptors, who used their full bench successfully during the season, have started to again rely heavily on their All-Star guards DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry.

DeRozan had 35 points Von Miller Jersey , six rebounds and six assists Sunday, but also committed four of Toronto’s 19 turnovers (the Wizards made 13 turnovers) in 38 minutes. He also made some ill-advised shots down the stretch and was willing to shoulder his share of the blame.

“I blame myself for a lot of mistakes, for a lot of forced shots late in the game,” DeRozan said. “Mental mistakes, turnovers, late-game execution, stabbing in the backcourt in transition late in the game. A lot of things.”

Reserve guard Delon Wright continued on that theme.

“I just think we have to make that adjustment to realize that they’re not blitzing (DeRozan) as much anymore, they’re playing more single coverage,” said Wright, who passed up a couple of 3-pointers.

“Shoot it, man,” DeRozan said. “Every one of my teammates, I don’t care if they miss 20 shots in a row, if you get a shot, shoot it. That’s the confidence we’ve had in one another all year.”

Lowry also saw considerable playing time, playing 39 minutes and had 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

A key player off the bench for the Raptors all season has been point guard Fred VanVleet Michael Roberts Jersey , who has played only 2:49 in the series because of a sore right shoulder and is listed as doubtful for Game 5.

The Wizards, meanwhile, have been dealing with adversity all season with Wall limited to 41 starts because of a sprained left shoulder and surgery on his left knee. The Wizards were 2-2 against the Raptors during the season even though Wall missed all four games.

“You have to have resolve to win in this league,” Wizards coach Scott Brooks said. “We’ve had some tough moments this year with John missing half the season, but we found it, and it put us in a position to make the playoffs through resolve. You win playoff games, and you win playoff series with having that. We have that, and we have to continue to have that because we have to win two more games, and one of them has to be on the road.”

The Raptors will be trying to avoid making as many turnovers. Another veteran, forward Serge Ibaka, also made four turnovers Sunday.

“Some of it is Washington’s good defense and some of it is just taking out a gun, pointing it at your foot and shooting ourselves in the foot,” Casey said. “A lot of it was uncharacteristic. But it just didn’t start in Game 3. We had some of the same turnovers the first two games, but we were able to score and have a cushion and live through it. We have to take care of the basketball. Make sure we get quality shots.”

Much like his team, William Karlsson has arrived in a big way this season.

The Golden Knights‘ young Swedish center scored his 40th goal of the season and added two assists in Monday’s playoff-clinching win over Colorado and once again displayed the type of play that has made him a pivotal part of Vegas’ impressive inaugural run.

Karlsson, who this season has more goals than in his previous stints with the Blue Jackets and Ducks combined, has helped form one of the most dangerous lines in the NHL playing alongside Jonathan Marchessault and Reilly Smith.

”He shows up every night Braden Smith Jersey , he works hard, and he helps me be a better player and I help him to be a better player,” Marchessault said. ”I just love playing with a high-quality player like that. It doesn’t happen often in a career, to have a connection like that. Me, Karly and Smitty, we have something special. We know that, and I think it makes it fun every night.”

The Golden Knights were the first team in the NHL with five different 20-goal scorers this season, and Karlsson leads the way with his 40, fourth-best in the league. Marchessault (24) and Smith (22) have also scored at least 20 goals this season. Meanwhile, Karlsson is tied for 27th in the league with 69 points. It’s a big reason the expansion Golden Knights lead the Pacific Division with six games remaining.

”That’s what happens when you play with good players. I’ve always wanted to be a top-six forward in the NHL,” said Karlsson, who’s affectionately known as Wild Bill. ”It’s good to know that I can do it, that I can be a top-six forward in this league. That feels really good to know after playing a defensive role the last couple of seasons. I got the chance here, playing with great players, and I’m happy that I took the chance. It’s been great so far, but we’re not nearly done.”

According to his teammates and coach Gerard Gallant, Karlsson’s diligence on the defensive end is what makes him such a special player. It’s not uncommon to see him start plays several passes before he’s on the receiving end of a would-be goal.

”I’m impressed by his goals Anthony Castonzo Jersey , obviously, and his play offensively, but what people don’t realize is a lot of guys that have so many points are not especially great two-way players, not complete players,” center Pierre-Edouard Bellemare said. ”When there is a goal, often … I mean, five plays before he finishes, he’s the one creating that play because he plays the right way or he’s saying the right stuff. For me, that’s the most impressive part.”

Gallant said he knew the type of player he was getting in Karlsson coming into the Knights’ inaugural season. And while Gallant would have never predicted the types of numbers Karlsson has, he’s putting forth the effort Gallant expected to blend well with the likes of Marchessault and Smith.

”You look at the line, they’re all high-plus players,” Gallant said. ”They’ve built chemistry all year long. It’s every night these guys are making good plays, and that’s important to our team. We talk about having 20 guys playing every night, and most nights we got it. But when these guys are hot like they are, they make your team go.

”Reilly Smith is one of the best two-way players in the league in my opinion. Marchy has had a great year both offensively and defensively. That’s what our team is, we work hard at both ends of the rink and that’s why we’re having success.”

Von Miller doesn't get too excited about how guys look this time of year.

"You really can't put too much into OTAs Tom Waddle Jersey ," Miller said Tuesday when asked how much improvement he saw in Denver's revamped offense. "Last year, I thought during OTAs we were going to win the Super Bowl."

Asked what it was like playing with a healthier Shane Ray and with rookie Bradley Chubb, the top defender in last month's draft whose selection sent him into a tizzy , Miller again demurred.

"I mean, it's the same thing that I said about the offense, you really can't put too much into it," Miller said. "You really can't get too high off a 'sack' in practice out here. I mean, I think that's a joke."

If you really want to get Miller going, however, bring up his pass rushing summit.

Miller is hosting his second annual gathering of the league's top quarterback tormentors June 27 to June 29 at the Bass Pro Shops' Big Cedar Lodge in Branson, Missouri.

"Some guys said they were coming but I don't want to say their names yet. You know how it is when you've got big-money guys walking around they commit to something two months out," said Miller, who was all smiles now. "We should have a good group of young guys. We got a good group of vets and retired guys that are going to come talk about pass rush and come up with ways on how to beat up some quarterbacks."

Miller's first such summit came about organically last year in California .

At the behest of his former position coach Richard Smith, Miller contacted Falcons defensive end Vic Beasley so they could work out together at Stanford University during their summer break between OTAs and training camp.

When word got out, "the media kind of dubbed it the Von Miller Pass Rush Summit," Miller said. "I was reading the article and I'm like Kyle Fuller Jersey , I should make this happen. So, I invited all the guys that I knew."

On short notice, he lured Khalil Mack, Olivier Vernon, Malik Jackson, the recently retired DeMarcus Ware, Shane Ray, Cassius Marsh and Cliff Avril, among others.

Miller's inspiration was former teammate Peyton Manning, whose family holds an annual quarterback camp and who used to gather receivers along with brother Eli at Duke University during his playing career.

"That definitely was the blueprint," said Miller, who figured if quarterbacks could gather in the offseason to share trade secrets, why shouldn't pass rushers?

"Whenever you can get guys together who do the same thing that you do to share thoughts, it helps develop you as a pass rusher," Miller said. "It helps develop the young guys and it's better for our sport. It absolutely helps the game of football."

He told The Associated Press at the Super Bowl in Minneapolis that he'd obtained a title sponsor and expected his second annual camp to be even bigger and better than the first. He said he'd invite offensive linemen, too.

"It's a great space where we can go share knowledge Rashaan Gaulden Jersey ," Miller said. "It's the only place where you can do that, it's the only place where you can get Khalil Mack and Vic Beasley in the same spot 鈥?other than the Pro Bowl 鈥?and talk about just straight pass rush, what it takes to be a great pass rusher.

"It's great for everybody around."

Miller doesn't have a head count yet, but he's not worried about nobody showing up to his party.

"I just call the guys around the league. It's a small fraternity of guys. I know guys on every team," Miller said. "So, Justin Houston, I can just call him and tell him to invite Dee Ford and the other guys. Andre Branch with the Miami Dolphins, I can just call him and tell him to invite all the guys. Aric Armstead and Cassius Marsh with the San Francisco 49ers, they were already there last year, so tell them to invite the other guys.

"You put the word out and it's like the 'Justice League,' all the (pass rushers) just come out of nowhere."

Andrew Luck looked comfortable in his old spot Thursday.

He took command of the huddle, made all the required throws, chatted with teammates and coaches and even critiqued himself. He avoided one personal concern by successfully handling the first snap, and he was serenaded by Indianapolis Colts‘ fans chanting his name.

Yes, after more than 19 months of answering questions about his surgically repaired throwing shoulder, Luck finally got a chance to show everyone exactly what he could do during the team’s first training camp workout Thursday.

”It was a good day Derek Wolfe Jersey , a solid day in windy conditions,” new coach Frank Reich said following a two-hour workout in shorts. ”I thought he looked strong, consistent, a good first day for him.”

The unofficial numbers: 4 of 9 with one interception in two rounds of 11-on-11 and 11 of 19 overall.

Of course, nobody expected Luck to be at his level best on Day 1.

The three-time Pro Bowler had surgery on a partially torn labrum in January 2017, missed all of last season with lingering pain and didn’t resume throwing again until May. He did light work during June’s three-day minicamp and ramped up his activity in California over the next six weeks.

Thursday marked the first time he worked out with the starting unit since the end of the 2016 season, and it was also his first real chance to get acclimated to Reich’s new offense.

”He doesn’t have the familiarity that we have when it comes to running the offense,” center Ryan Kelly said. ”I mean you can look at it on paper for so long, but until you’re out there and running it … So every so often in walkthroughs, he’d ask me a few questions. It’s usually the other way around, so it’s kind of weird right now.”

The Colts also weren’t about to ask anyone to do too much too fast. So rather than turn things loose, Reich instructed his players to slow it down for the first two days.

It showed.

But that’s not why so many fans showed up to the team’s new camp site, Grand Park Sports Campus, in Westfield, Indiana – a northern suburb of Indianapolis.

They wanted to see the team’s most anticipated camp appearance since Luck arrived in town with the title of No. 1 overall draft pick in 2012.

Some couldn’t wait. The line started forming more than two hours before practice began, and blue No. 12 jerseys were a favorite fashion option in the bleachers. When individual drills started to wrap up and it became obvious Luck was about to start throwing Christian Covington Jersey , one fan shouted: ”Get ready for the most anticipated pass.”

Luck did not speak with reporters after the workout though he was more talkative than usual on the field.

He started the afternoon with a brief conversation with Reich and could be seen discussing specific plays with receivers and offensive linemen throughout the afternoon.

Reich liked most of what he saw.

”Really good,” he said. ”Being under center, running team periods, making plays, seeing him hit the big play to (Eric) Ebron, you know, taking control of the huddle, making some checks at the line of scrimmage, just doing what he does. I mean you could see it in his demeanor, you could see it in his eyes, working through his progressions. He was sharp.”

Luck is expected to throw again Friday. He will participate in Saturday’s practice, but will not throw and then will return to full action Sunday night when the Colts are scheduled to practice in pads.

The hope is he will be ready to play in the Colts’ preseason opener Aug. 9 at Seattle.

”Working together for so long, we just went through a walkthrough for an hour and as soon as we did it, it was like old times. Same cadence,” Kelly said before practice. ”It’s crazy how fast things come back to you.”

Notes: The Colts activated offensive lineman Denzelle Good from the non-injury football list. Left tackle Anthony Castonzo and backup offensive lineman Austin Howard have been placed on the non-football injury list. Castonzo hurt his hamstring while working out this summer. Howard’s injury has not been disclosed.

HOUSTON — The Houston Astros salvaged a split of their six-game road trip with a victory at Texas on Wednesday Terrell Edmunds Jersey Steelers , setting the stage for what could be the most critical stretch of their schedule.

Houston returns to Minute Maid Park on Thursday to host the opener of a four-game series with the Chicago White Sox and an 11-game homestand that will carry the Astros (57-31) into the All-Star break.

Following their team record-tying 12-game winning streak last month, the Astros have gone a pedestrian 8-6. They have been unable to shake the Seattle Mariners (55-32) in the chase for the American League West pennant and remain behind the Boston Red Sox (59-29) and New York Yankees (56-28) in pursuit of the best record in the majors.

The Astros could gain significant ground in the standings with a dominating homestand facing two teams below .500, the White Sox and Detroit Tigers (38-50), sandwiched around a four-game series against the Oakland Athletics, against whom Houston is 8-1 this season.

Houston rallied from a four-run deficit to complete the sweep of its two-game set with the Rangers with a 5-4 win. The bullpen was vital, with right-handers Will Harris, Collin McHugh and Ken Giles combining for five innings of scoreless relief, allowing three hits and zero walks.

“I think our bullpen did exactly what we needed,” Astros manager A.J. Hinch said.

The Astros have performed inconsistently since their winning streak Cheap Darius Leonard Jersey , with injuries (shortstop Carlos Correa) and slumps (outfielder George Springer and super utility Marwin Gonzalez) yielding uneven play. Rectifying matters at home against inferior competition might cure ills.

Right-hander Justin Verlander (9-4, 2.12 ERA) will open the homestand for the Astros. Verlander has suffered consecutive losses, allowing nine runs on 16 hits and three walks with 14 strikeouts over 11 2/3 innings against the Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays during the final week of June.

Verlander has surrendered at least three runs in four of five starts after doing so only once over his first 13 starts. He is 21-13 with a 3.74 ERA over 43 career starts against Chicago.

The White Sox will counter with left-hander Carlos Rodon (1-3, 4.55 ERA), who will make his sixth start of the season. Rodon made his season debut on June 9 at Boston and allowed a season-high five runs in his last outing, surrendering six hits and two walks over 5 1/3 innings in a 13-4 loss at Texas.

Rodon is 1-0 with a 1.71 ERA over four career starts against the Astros.

With their 7-4 loss in Cincinnati to the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday, the White Sox (30-56) will conclude their stretch of 13 games in 13 days with the four-game series against the Astros. Chicago entered the series finale at Cincinnati with its starters providing the fewest innings in the AL; right-handed starter Dylan Covey continued that trend by working only 3 2/3 innings.

Combine that strenuous bullpen workload with the lack of off-days, and the White Sox will look to Rodon to not only provide a quality start on Thursday but a lengthy one as well.

Alec Peters missed his last four shots after the Phoenix rookie had more than quadrupled his career high, at one point turning toward Dallas coach Rick Carlisle and saying Cheap Jessie Bates III Jersey , ”I’m tired.”

It will be a night to remember anyway in a forgettable season for both teams.

Peters scored 36 points, 28 more than his previous best, and the Suns beat the Mavericks 124-97 on Tuesday night in a reserve-filled finale for teams headed to the lottery.

”I looked over at coach Carlisle and he was looking at me wide-eyed and I’m like, I’m exhausted right now,” said Peters, who bounced back and forth from the G League most of the season. ”I know I missed a layup at the end. I’m not going to fret over it too much. Cool night for sure.”

The Mavericks (24-58) entered the game tied for the third-worst record in the NBA and stayed that way while sitting eight players. That included star Dirk Nowitzki, whose 20th season ended last week when he had ankle surgery.

Atlanta finished with the same record after losing at home to Philadelphia 121-113. Orlando can join the Mavericks and Hawks with a loss at home to Washington on Wednesday.

Phoenix (21-61), which had already clinched the worst record and best lottery odds for the No. 1 pick in the draft in June, also didn’t dress eight players. The Suns won for the second time in 19 games to wrap up their third straight season with at least 58 losses.

Johnathan Motley led Dallas with 21 points.

Peters Tanner Lee Jersey Jaguars , who had 46 points total in 19 previous games, was 8 of 13 from 3-point range. The Suns shot 76 percent in the second half while outscoring the Mavericks 80-43. It matched the most points the Mavericks have given up in a half.

”We had trouble stopping Larry Bird, dressed up as Alec Peters,” Carlisle said.

TIP-INS

Suns: The four players not already listed as out who sat were Devin Booker (right hand sprain), Troy Daniels (left ankle sprain), T.J. Warren (left knee inflammation) and Marquese Chriss (lower back/leg pain). … Rookie Shaquille Harrison had his first NBA double-double with career highs of 18 points and 10 assists.

Mavericks: The two players not already listed as out who didn’t play were Doug McDermott (left elbow contusion) and rookie guard Dennis Smith Jr. (left knee soreness). Leading scorer Harrison Barnes was listed as rest.

DIRK FOR 21

Nowitzki revealed that he spent all season dealing with bone spurs in his left ankle that finally resulted in surgery last week. The German star has maintained that he planned to return next season, which would make him the first to play 21 seasons with the same franchise.

The timing of the surgery was designed to give Nowitzki plenty of time to recover for his offseason regimen. He said he would spend about three weeks in the walking boot he wore in his meeting with reporters before the game.

”I didn’t miss a lot of games this year,” said Nowitzki, who played 77 games Chris Taylor Jersey , a record for a player in his 20th season. ”I felt fine most of the time. I always said all year that I want to fulfill that two-year contract if possible. I saw nothing this year that was going to stop it.”

UP NEXT

Suns: C Tyson Chandler could be attractive in an offseason trade with one year left on a contract that averages $13 million per season. He was a key piece of the Dallas championship in 2011, and returned in a trade with the New York Knicks three years later with one year left on a four-year contract. Chandler signed with the Suns when the Mavericks tried hard to lure DeAndre Jordan away from the Clippers. After initially agreeing to sign with Dallas, Jordan changed his mind and stayed in LA.

Mavericks: They seem committed to keeping Barnes, who has two years left on a $94 million, four-year max deal he signed two years ago. The most likely piece in a trade would be G Wesley Matthews, who is going into the final year of a $70 million, four-year deal that got richer when Jordan backed out on the Mavs. While Matthews returned from a ruptured Achilles tendon much quicker than usual in his first season and was durable thereafter, he hasn’t been the difference-making scorer Dallas needs.

Buffalo Bills Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly has once again been diagnosed with oral cancer.

Kelly released a statement Thursday through his publicist saying he is "shocked and deeply saddened" by the news Broncos Cheap Jerseys , and vows to once again fight to overcome the disease. He did not go into specifics on the diagnoses except to say the cancer was discovered following a test.

"As our family has faced many trials and triumphs throughout the years, you have blessed us with your prayers. We are asking for those prayers once again," Kelly said. "With all of you by my side, we will fight and win this battle together."

Kelly then closed his statement by saying: "Staying 'Kelly Tough' and trusting God will carry us through this difficult time."

The diagnosis comes a few weeks after Kelly celebrated his 58th birthday.

Kelly had been cancer-free since September 2014 , but had been required to undergo routine follow-up testing.

He was first diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, which led to him having surgery to have a portion of his upper jaw removed in June 2013.

Follow-up tests nine months later showed the cancer spread to his sinus, which led to radiation and chemotherapy treatments. Kelly lost 70 pounds while being treated.

The effects of the cancer and treatments led to Kelly having trouble speaking. He could also no longer produce saliva and had lost the sense of taste.

Kelly's wife, Jill, posted a note on her Instagram account accompanied with a picture of her with her arm around her husband.

"We are shocked, heartbroken, sad, angry Authentic Christian Kirk Jersey , confused and just darn tired," Jill Kelly wrote. "Yet despite how we feel, we KNOW that God is a promise maker and keeper. ... The more life and heartbreak I experience, the more I realize that this is not the end of the story."

Several Bills players and NFL teams, including Buffalo, posted notes of encouragement on Twitter.

"Jim is a tough and courageous man, and we know he will fight this battle with strength and determination," the Bills said in a statement released by the team. "The Buffalo Bills will support the Kelly family during this trying time, and we ask our fans to pray for the family, as Jim beings the treatment process and the road to recovery."

Kelly spent 11 seasons with the Bills before retiring following the 1996 season and has since made Buffalo his home.

He is the Bills most accomplished quarterback and part of a team that reached four consecutive Super Bowl appearances 鈥?all losses 鈥?in the early 1990s. Kelly remains very active in the community particularly through his Kelly for Kids charitable foundation.

In January 2017, Kelly teamed with several cancer organizations and pharmaceutical giant Merck to produce a promotional campaign titled "Your Cancer Game Plan " to assist and advise people diagnosed with cancer. The campaign emphasized nutrition, education Authentic Trent Brown Jersey , communication with caregivers and maintaining a positive attitude.

Kelly told The Associated Press that staying upbeat helped him cope in beating cancer. He also refused to feel sorry for himself, which reinforced his desire to share his experiences with others.

"I have no room to complain," Kelly said. "If tomorrow the good Lord decides that's my last day, then I'm not going to go down with a frown. I'm going down with a smile on my face, knowing that I've gotten everything out of life."

The Chicago Cubs got some key hits and effective pitching to get a big win.

Jason Heyward and Addison Russell homered, and Ian Happ had a tiebreaking RBI double in the seventh inning as the Cubs rallied to beat the St. Louis Cardinals 6-3 on Saturday night.

Chicago starter Kyle Hendricks (5-6) gave up three runs and seven hits in six innings, snapping a career-high three game losing streak. Brandon Morrow got the last three outs for his 16th save in 17 chances.

”We had great at bats all night,” Cubs manager Joe Maddon said. ”Had opportunities. Kyle (Hendricks) settled in. He’s still off a little bit but that’s what he can do even when he’s off. Just give him a lot of credit.”

Chicago trailed 2-0 and then 3-2 before Kyle Schwarber’s RBI single in the fifth tied the score for the second time. Happ’s double off Sam Tuivailala (1-2) in the seventh gave the Cubs their first lead.

Happ has three hits, including a homer, with two RBI and two runs scored in the last two games against the Cardinals, who dropped their season-high fourth in a row.

Heyward’s 410-foot, two-run homer in the eighth landed in the right field bullpen. It was the first career dinger allowed by Cardinals reliever Jordan Hicks.

”My hands have got to be free Authentic Joseph Noteboom Jersey ,” Heyward said. ”I’ve got to be able to use my hands and can’t try and hit (that 100 mph fastball) that with my body. If you try and do too much you’re not going to be able to make some good contact there.”

Heyward is hitting .383 (23 for 65) in his last 15 games, raising his average from .238 to .269.

”What was that a 99, 100 mile an hour fastball? He got to it easily,” Maddon said. ”He’s the guy that’s really ascended among the group. He’s made all the difference by hitting second and providing some big hits in the latter part of the game. He’s really good as the game gets in progress.”

Russell’s leadoff home run in the fourth tied it at 2-2, snapping Cardinals starter Carlos Martinez’s 47 inning homerless streak.

”Looking for something in the zone early in the count,” Russell said. ”I was really sitting on a fastball but I just saw it well and I put it out.”

Martinez struggled for third time since returning from a lat strain, giving up three runs and seven hits. He walked six, at least one in each inning, and needed 98 pitches to get through five innings. He was able to wriggle out of a bases loaded jam in the fifth as the Cubs stranded nine runners against him.

”Better, but still not exactly where he wants to be, obviously the free passes,” Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said. ”It just looked more like his stuff Adidas Eric Staal Jersey , good life, just looked consistent, had some close misses.”

Martinez helped himself with a two-out RBI single that broke a 2-2 tie in the fourth. Martinez’ liner fell just short of the outstretched glove of a diving Heyward, scoring Dexter Fowler.

Marcell Ozuna’s two-run homer gave the Cardinals a 2-0 lead in the first. The blast extended Ozuna’s home run streak to three games and his RBI streak to a career-high seven games. He is the first Cardinal to drive in a run in seven straight since Matt Holliday in 2013.

”Winning is more important,” Ozuna said. ”If we’re winning and you help the team a little bit, it’s good. But if you’re losing and you’re hitting good, what is the reason for it?”

Willson Contreras got the Cubs on the scoreboard in the third on a sharp infield single that deflected off first baseman Matt Carpenter. Ben Zobrist scored from third on the play.

TRAINING ROOM

Cubs: RHP Yu Darvish (right triceps tendinitis) threw a 35-pitch bullpen session on Friday and is scheduled to throw another when the team returns home next week.

Cardinals: SS Paul DeJong (left hand fracture) underwent a CT scan and hit off a tee. He will accompany the team on its next road trip.

UP NEXT

Cubs: LHP Jose Quintana (6-4, 4.09 ERA) is 3-1 in five career starts against St. Louis.

Cardinals: RHP Jack Flaherty (3-2, 2.96 ERA) has won three of his last four decisions and is making his first career start against Chicago.

Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Michael Bennett is wanted for assaulting a 66-year-old female paraplegic Courtland Sutton Color Rush Jersey , as reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter. You can read the full statement by the District Attorney of Harris County here.District Attorney of Harris County, Texas announced it has indicted Eagles鈥?DE Michael Bennett for felony charge for injuring a 66-year-old paraplegic working at NRG Stadium to control access to field at SuperBowl LI. A warrant has been issued for Bennett鈥檚 arrest.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 23, 2018The warrant outlines that after Super Bowl 51, Bennett tried to get onto the field during the New England Patriots celebration (his brother Martellus was on the team). Security workers (which included the 66-year-old female), informed Bennett to take an alternate round.Instead, he pushed through security and injured the elderly lady. As a result, he is charged聽 with "injury to the elderly, includes intentionally and knowingly, causing bodily injury to a person 65 years or older." The statement reads that the penalty could carry a 10-year prison sentence and $10,000 fine.Bennett was acquired by the Eagles in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks on Mar. 7 Authentic M.J. Stewart Jersey , in exchange for a fifth-round pick and wide out Marcus Johnson. With the warrant issued for his arrest, Bennett's career with Philly is already in jeopardy. This isn't the first time Bennett has been involved with the law. In Aug. 2017, Bennett was detained by two Las Vegas police officers, and he alleged that they used excessive force and threatened to "blow his head off." Though the officers refuted Bennett's allegations, the incident remains under investigation.Bennett is a Super Bowl 48 champion with the Seattle Seahawks, and was to boast Philly's already-dangerous defensive line. But for now, it's already unclear if he'll be back on the football field in 2018.We'll be sure to provide more information as it comes along. Quarterback Sam Bradford was well aware of David Johnson even before signing with the Cardinals in the offseason.

Bradford was on the opposite sideline when Johnson rushed for 187 yards and three touchdowns while trouncing Bradford's Eagles in 2015.

A training camp with Johnson has only amplified Bradford's appreciation.

"When I first got here, I think everyone tried to explain just how special he was and what he was able to do in the run game and the pass game, all the ways that he could be used," Bradford said. "I've heard that before about some players Adidas Jonathan Drouin Jersey , but then you actually see it and you see how smooth he is running routes. He looks like a receiver when he is split out wide. You just don't see that from a guy that is as talented at running the ball as he is. I'm excited to play with David. I think he is extremely versatile, and hopefully we find a way to use him a lot."

New coach Steve Wilks and new offensive coordinator Mike McCoy are expected to do exactly that, although it might not be evident in the Cardinals' preseason opener against San Diego on Saturday.

Neither Bradford nor Johnson is likely to see much time, more to give the coaches time to evaluate the rest of the squad than to protect Bradford (knee) and Johnson (wrist) from contact.

Rookie Chase Edmonds, a fourth-round pick out of Fordham, is listed as No. 2 on the depth chart, and veteran D.J. Foster provides a run/pass threat in a running back corps that also includes T.J. Logan and Sherman Badie.

Johnson, who was second in the NFL with 2,118 yards in total offense in 2016, was injured in the 2017 season opener against Detroit and hasn't played since. He understands the preseason plan.

"Even though I was hurt last year http://www.49ersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-tarvarius-moore-jersey , I know how the NFL works," Johnson said. "I've played long enough to know the speed of NFL games and I know what I am supposed to do."

Johnson's focus in training camp, which he opted to attend after sitting out the mandatory offseason workouts in June because of a contract dispute, is to get in synch with McCoy's playbook.

The new offense is more oriented to the short pass, while former coach Bruce Arians believed in the home run ball.

"It's been great," Johnson said. "Mike McCoy really knows how to bring out everyone's strengths. He knows how to structure the offense to where it brings out what everyone is good at. I feel like it is going to be a great offense."

Johnson's emphasis now is on learning the nuances of the new running game, although it is safe to assume his pass-catching ability will be utilized as it was in 2016, when he had 1,239 rushing yards on 293 carries and 879 receiving yards on 80 receptions.

While Johnson will be the feature back, the Cardinals will use other packages that could involve Edmonds Authentic Pekka Rinne Jersey , Foster and others depending on the opponent's defensive schemes, Wilks said.

"All those guys are being very competitive," Wilks said. "There are going to be some tough decisions. That's what you want as a coach. We want those guys to make us make those tough decisions with the things they are doing."

NOTES: The Cardinals placed center A.Q. Shipley on injured reserve Tuesday, three days after he suffered a season-ending knee injury in a team scrimmage. Mason Cole, a third-round draft choice from Michigan, is listed as the starting center, but coach Wilks said, "I'm not going to try to put all the pressure on him. It's going to be by committee. Those guys have to do a great job communicating, starting with the guards and out to the tackles and making sure they put us in the right position from a (pass) protection standpoint."

— Pittsburgh Steelers rookie quarterback Mason Rudolph exudes confidence heading into his first NFL preseason game Thursday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Rudolph admitted that jitters may be there as the Steelers prepare to face the defending Super Bowl champions in Philadelphia. But the Steelers’ third-round pick has settled into a comfort zone two weeks into training camp.

“It’s just football Buccaneers Ronald Jones II Jersey ,” Rudolph said. “I think everyone has a little bit of nerves because it’s going to be the first one back. But just like your debut in college, you get out there, you make a completion and it starts flowing like football has always been.”

Rudolph is in a fight for the backup quarterback spot behind Ben Roethlisberger. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that Rudolph will see time under center against the Eagles, along with veteran Landry Jones and Josh Dobbs, the Steelers’ fourth-round pick a year ago.

Tomlin is eager to see how Rudolph can direct the offense and maintain possession.

“Mason’s done a really good job, but he hasn’t been hit,” Tomlin said. “Ball security is much more difficult in-stadium because a training camp environment is controlled in a lot of ways. You don’t touch or get close to the quarterback, so a quarterback’s ability to secure the football doesn’t get tested until they play in-stadium preseason football.”

Rudolph will have an opportunity to show how far he’s come since the Steelers traded up to select the Oklahoma State star with the 76th overall pick, the highest the organization has taken a quarterback since Roethlisberger was the 11th overall selection in 2004.

During spring practices, Rudolph impressed, but he also missed a couple center-quarterback exchanges after working almost exclusively out of the shotgun both in high school and at Oklahoma State.

“We cleaned it up for the most part,” Rudolph said. “I’m just starting to feel a lot more comfortable under center after not doing it the last eight years of my life.”

Rudolph also had an inauspicious start at training camp when he ran a bootleg to the right and fumbled his first pass attempt backward. That gaffe is far from Rudolph’s mind.

“I could (not) care less about the first pass,” Rudolph said. “I have a lot of first passes. I had my first pass in OTAs and rookie minicamp. I’m thinking about the next pass. If one play goes bad Donte Jackson Jersey Elite , the next play can be the one that wins it, or gets you back in the game.”

Rudolph has found his groove after a rocky first week at camp. The rookie looked comfortable and crisp while running the two-minute offense at the end of a practice last week. Rudolph finished the drill an efficient 5 of 6 for 52 yards, which included a practice-ending 14-yard touchdown pass to rookie running back Jaylen Samuels.

“I just want to progress,” Rudolph said. “You obviously dream about playing in the NFL, but once you get here, you take it one day at a time. I think that’s the way I’ve approached practice and it has gone well.

“I’m just focused on completing passes and making sure I’m taking mental steps forward every day.”

The next step forward for Rudolph will be into a NFL stadium for his preseason debut — against an opposing defense.

“You’re playing your own team every single day and you get frustrated because they start to learn your calls, they’re cheating on your install sheet, printing your stuff out and trying to game plan against you,” Rudolph said. “And then you get out there in a game and it’s easy because those guys are scared, they’re all tight, they want to be in their spots, they don’t want to get yelled at by their coach, and you end up scoring points and driving down the field. That’s the way I feel this will go.”

NOTES: Tomlin said Roethlisberger won’t play Thursday against Philadelphia. . Wide receiver Antonio Brown missed practice again Tuesday Adidas Connor McDavid Jersey , but he worked out alone on an adjoining field. He will miss Thursday’s game along with LBs Bud Dupree and T.J. Watt, and TE Vance McDonald.

Mark Reynolds homered twice and drove in a career-high 10 runs, Max Scherzer won for the first time since June 5, and the Washington Nationals beat the Miami Marlins 18-4 on Saturday night.

Washington has won three straight and scored a combined 35 runs since calling a players-only meeting on Wednesday after falling under .500 for the first time since May 2.

Reynolds (5 for 5) tied his career high for hits and equaled the Nationals’ RBI record.

Scherzer (11-5), who was 0-4 in his previous five starts, pitched seven innings, allowing four runs on four hits – three of which were home runs. The Nationals had been shut out in three of Scherzer’s previous five starts.

Miami starter Wei-Yin Chen (2-6) lasted 4 1/3 innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits.

DODGERS 3, ANGELS 1

ANAHEIM, Calif. – Ross Stripling pitched another gem and Justin Turner drove in two runs to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a win over the Angels.

Stripling (7-2) is making a strong case to make the NL All-Star team with another terrific outing. He allowed just one run and three hits – all by Mike Trout – in six innings. The right-hander struck out seven and walked none, and lowered his ERA to 2.14.

After blowing a save opportunity on Friday night, Kenley Jansen pitched a perfect ninth to earn his 24th save.

Turner hit a two-out single in the fifth inning off Taylor Cole (0-1) to give the Dodgers a 2-0 lead.

RED SOX 15, ROYALS 4

KANSAS CITY Marshall Newhouse Jersey Bills , Mo. – Andrew Benintendi homered, doubled, walked a career-high four times and scored four runs, and Boston routed Kansas City.

Mookie Betts had four hits, raising his American League-leading average to .343. Ten Red Sox players had RBIs as they scored a season high in runs. They scored 11 runs after the sixth inning.

Xander Bogaerts had three RBIs for the Red Sox, who have won five straight and 12 of their past 15.

Heath Hembree (4-1) worked 1 1/3 hitless innings to pick up the victory. Jason Adam (0-2), the third of seven KC pitchers, took the loss. Catcher Drew Butera got the final out in his sixth career relief appearance and his first since 2016.

TWINS 5, ORIOLES 4

MINNEAPOLIS – Kyle Gibson recovered from a rough start to throw seven innings, and Max Kepler homered in his second straight game to lead Minnesota past Baltimore.

Bobby Wilson went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for the Twins, who won their third in a row.

Gibson (3-6) allowed three runs in the first inning – including a two-run homer by Chris Davis – but only gave up two hits after that while striking out nine. It was Gibson’s highest strikeout total since fanning 10 batters on April 26 against the New York Yankees.

Kepler’s solo shot off Kevin Gausman sparked a three-run fifth that tied it. Wilson’s two-run double off Miguel Castro (2-5) in the sixth gave Minnesota the lead for good.

The team with baseball’s worst record, meanwhile, lost its fifth in the row.

Trevor Hildenberger worked a scoreless eighth for the Twins. Jace Peterson’s RBI double off Fernando Rodney pulled the Orioles to 5-4 Lorenzo Carter Color Rush Jersey , but Rodney got Tim Beckham on a grounder to short to convert his 19th save in 24 chances.

CUBS 8, REDS 7

CHICAGO – Javier Baez homered and had four hits – including a game-tying infield single in the eighth – and Chicago rallied from a five-run deficit.

Anthony Rizzo’s RBI groundout capped a four-run eighth inning for Chicago, which has come from behind in each of its last eight wins.

Eugenio Suarez homered and Billy Hamilton added three hits and three stolen bases for Cincinnati, which had its five-game winning streak against the Cubs snapped.

Randy Rosario (4-0) allowed two hits in 2 1/3 innings to get the win. Brandon Marrow worked the ninth for his 20th save.

Jared Hughes (2-3) took the loss, part of three Reds relievers who allowed five runs in 2 1/3 innings.

PHILLIES 3, PIRATES 2

PITTSBURGH – Nick Williams, Scott Kingery and Jorge Alfaro drove in runs on consecutive at-bats in the seventh inning to help first-place Philadelphia win its sixth straight.

Jake Arrieta (6-6) worked around six hits with the help of eight strikeouts to hold the Pirates to two runs over seven innings.

Pirates starter Jameson Taillon (5-7) was charged with all three runs. He had allowed just two singles coming into the seventh. He struck out eight and walked none.

Starling Marte singled and scored in the first and homered in the second as part of a three-hit afternoon to stake the Pirates to an early lead.

Victor Arano worked around a leadoff double in the ninth for his second save.

CARDINALS 3, GIANTS 2

SAN FRANCISCO – Carlos Martinez pitched seven effective innings for his third consecutive win and St. Louis beat San Francisco.

Martinez (6-4) allowed one run on six hits with three strikeouts and did not walk a batter for the third time this season. The right-hander also drove in the Cardinals’ first run with an RBI double in the third.

Jordan Hicks allowed a run in the eighth and Bud Norris retired three batters for his 17th save.

Brandon Belt had three hits and drove in both runs for the Giants. San Francisco has been held to two runs or fewer in five of its last six games.

Jeff Samardzija had an uneven outing in his first start since May 29. Activated off the disabled list before the game, Samardzija (1-5) gave up three runs in five innings and repeatedly pitched with runners on base.

BRAVES 5, BREWERS 1

MILWAUKEE – Anibal Sanchez pitched effectively into the seventh and Freddie Freeman added three hits, lifting slumping Atlanta over Milwa.

BOSTON — Rick Porcello shoots to become the Boston Red Sox’s first 10-game winner of the season when he pitches for Boston against the Los Angeles Angels in the second game of a three-game series at Fenway Park Wednesday night.

The Red Sox remained a half-game behind the New York Yankees in the American League East by pounding out 10 extra-base hits in a 9-1 rout of the struggling Angels Tuesday night. They now send Porcello (9-3 Youth Ito Smith Jersey , 3.44 ERA) out to face the Angels’ Andrew Heaney (4-5, 3.43) in the middle game of the series.

Boston is 4-0 against the Angels this season, winning those games by a combined count of 36-4.

“We haven’t solved them,” Angels manager Mike Scioscia said after the Red Sox (53-27) hit four homers and six doubles in Tuesday’s win. “We’ve tried to make some adjustments. We’re going to obviously work on it tonight and try to make some adjustments and hopefully have a better shot tomorrow.

“They’ve taken it to us. There’s no way to sugarcoat it. We’ve got to do a lot of things better.

Porcello, who is 2-1 in four June starts, is just 7-7 with 5.51 ERA in 17 career starts against the Angels, who have lost 11 of their last 15 games.

In his one start against Los Angeles this season, Porcello pitched six shutout innings in Boston’s 9-0 victory on April 18.

Before Tuesday’s game, the Red Sox placed Thursday starter Steven Wright on the 10-day disabled list with a left knee problem. Brian Johnson, who has been in the bullpen, will make the start in the series and homestand finale.

Christian Vazquez and Jackie Bradley Jr., the bottom two hitters in the Boston lineup (a problem spot for the team this season), combined to go 5-for-8 with two homers and five RBIs on Tuesday.

Everyone in the starting lineup except Rafael Devers had at least one hit (in a 14-hit attack) and he scored a run.

“We’re swinging it great, you know Saints Natrell Jamerson Jersey , I think all up and down the lineup,” said Mookie Betts, who hit his 20th home run of the season. “It’s kind of contagious. Everybody’s getting hits and what not.”

The ever-streaky Bradley is 6-for-7 in the last two games to raise his batting average to .199.

“You know, he’s been swinging the bat great,” Betts said. “A couple line drives that go five feet one way or the other, we’re looking at a completely different number (average) that’s on the board.”

Heaney is also 2-1 in four June starts and has allowed two earned runs or fewer in eight of his 13 starts this season. He will make only his second appearance against Boston, his first at Fenway. He beat the Red Sox in Anaheim in 2015, yielding two runs in seven innings.

No one on the current Boston roster has more than three at-bats against Heaney. The team is 2-for-14 (.143) against him with Xander Bogaerts collecting both hits in his three at-bats (.667).

Ian Kinsler is 11-for-22 (.500) against Porcello, while Albert Pujols is 10-for-29 (.345) with a homer, while Cole Calhoun is 7-for-22 (.318) with two homers. Justin Upton is 2-for-12 (.167) and Luis Valbuena 4-for-19 (.211).

Terrelle Pryor is hoping for a Big-Apple bounce-back with the Jets.

The former Washington wide receiver signed with New York after one disappointing season with the Redskins.

The Jets announced the signing Sunday. Terms of the deal, which were agreed to on Thursday night, were not immediately known.

Pryor had free agent visits with both New York and Seattle, and also had interest from Cleveland, before he agreed to sign with the Jets.

”I’m so happy to be a part of this organization and this team Ito Smith Jersey Falcons , this young team,” Pryor said in a video posted on the team’s Twitter page . ”I’m excited. It’s time to get to work. Jet up!”

Pryor, who turns 29 in June, gives the Jets some depth at wide receiver, where they also have Jermaine Kearse, Quincy Enunwa and Robby Anderson, along with second-year pros Chad Hansen and ArDarius Stewart.

Anderson’s status is uncertain, however, after he was arrested in Florida in January on several charges, including threatening a police officer’s family and saying he would rape the officer’s wife. He was also arrested last May and charged with resisting arrest after sparring with officials who asked him to leave a Miami music festival.

His hearing has been postponed until August.

”I am really hopeful Robby will put this thing behind him and be the kind of all-around person that will make people proud to wear (his) No. 11 jersey,” Jets acting owner Christopher Johnson said Sunday at the NFL meetings.

”I haven’t talked with the coaches about Robby. I honestly think he is remorseful and trying to get himself in a better place. I believe him.”

Pryor signed a one-year, $6 million deal with Washington last year after having a breakout season with Cleveland in 2016, when he had 77 catches for 1,007 yards and four touchdowns in his first year as a full-time wide receiver. He was being counted on to replace the departed receiving duo of Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson Chiefs Robert Golden Jersey , but injured an ankle in Week 2 and tried to play through it. He finished the year on injured reserve and had ankle surgery, ending the season with just 20 catches for 240 yards and one touchdown.

He had more than three catches in a game just once last year – in the season opener – and Washington allowed Pryor to leave as a free agent. The former Ohio State quarterback-turned-receiver now has a chance to return to form as a potential deep threat for the Jets in new coordinator Jeremy Bates’ offense.

This marks the latest stop in what has been a wild football journey for Pryor, who has also spent time with Oakland, Seattle, Kansas City and Cincinnati in the NFL.

Pryor, a top high school recruit from southwestern Pennsylvania, was the starting quarterback for Ohio State from 2008-10 and became one of college football’s most exciting players. He threw for 6,177 yards and 57 touchdowns and ran for 2,164 yards and 17 scores in three seasons with the Buckeyes.

But Pryor withdrew from Ohio State in June 2011 after a memorabilia-for-cash-and-tattoos scandal that resulted in a five-game suspension and ultimately led to coach Jim Tressel’s resignation. Two months later, Pryor was selected by Oakland in the NFL supplemental draft.

He played in just four games during his first two seasons with the Raiders, including one start at quarterback. Pryor started nine games in 2013 with shaky results, throwing for two TDs and 11 interceptions before being benched in favor of Matt McGloin following a sprained knee ligament earlier in the season.

Pryor was traded to Seattle before the 2014 NFL draft, but was among the Seahawks‘ final cuts. He sat out the entire season despite having workouts with several teams. Kansas City signed him in January 2015, but then released him five months later. Pryor briefly joined Cincinnati Cheap Brandon Parker Jersey , but was again cut – and then announced that he would be willing to play wide receiver on a full-time basis.

Cleveland claimed Pryor off waivers and he played in three games for the Browns, who named him a starter at wide receiver the following season. Despite still being raw at the position, Pryor’s athleticism and versatility was on full display in 2016 as he led the Browns in receptions, yards receiving, TD catches, yards per game and yards per catch.

In a game at Miami, he became the first player since Hall of Famer Frank Gifford of the Giants in 1959 to have at least 120 yards receiving (144), 30 yards passing (35) and 20 yards rushing (25) in a game. He also played a snap at safety and became the first player since San Francisco’s Billy Kilmer in 1964 to have three catches, carries and passes in a game.

With the Jets, Pryor is reunited with two teammates from that Cleveland team: quarterback Josh McCown and running back Isaiah Crowell.

Pryor parlayed his promising season with the Browns into a nice payday with the Redskins, and things started off well as he had six catches for 66 yards in the opener. But his production was inconsistent from that point before the ankle injury ended his season – and, it turned out, his tenure in Washington – after Week 11.

A look at what’s happening around the majors Thursday:

MIDSUMMER SKID

The Nationals open a series against Miami hoping to end a five-game skid and get back to .500. Washington fell to 42-43 with a loss to Boston on Wednesday Troy Niklas Jersey Elite , the first time the preseason NL East favorites have been under .500 this late in the year since being 60-61 on Aug. 21, 2015. The Nationals held a players’ only meeting after a 3-0 loss to the Red Sox highlighted by Adam Eaton’s throwing error and a wild pitch from Ryan Madson. Jeremy Hellickson (2-1, 2.63) makes his second start since returning from the DL, while Marlins righty Pablo Lopez (1-0, 3.00) makes his second MLB start.

NOT VERY VERLANDER

Justin Verlander (9-4, 2.12) tries to stop a personal slide when the Astros open a series against the White Sox. Verlander has allowed nine runs in 11 2/3 innings over his past two starts Kolton Miller Jersey , taking losses to Toronto (four runs) and Tampa Bay (five runs). Verlander hasn’t allowed four or more earned runs in three straight starts since June 2014 while with Detroit. Carlos Rodon (1-3, 4.55) is up for Chicago.

CUETO’S BACK

Johnny Cueto is expected to be reinstated from the disabled list and pitch when the Giants open a four-game series against the Cardinals. Cueto was placed on the disabled list May 1 with inflammation in his right elbow. A few days later, he visited Dr. James Andrews, who diagnosed him with a strained elbow. Cueto is 3-0 with a 0.84 ERA in five starts this season. The Giants are 41-21 in his starts since he joined the team in 2016.

PITCHING IN

Angels rookie Jaime Barria will start against AL West-leading Seattle in place of Tyler Skaggs a day after the left-hander went on the DL with a thigh strain. Barria is making his 12th start of the season and has given up two earned runs or fewer in four of his last five starts. Lefty Marco Gonzales (8-5, 3.77) makes his first start since pitching the first complete game of his career in a 4-1 win over Kansas City.

DOUBLE TROUBLE

Joe Mauer needs one double to give him 415 in his career, which would break a tie with Hall of Famer Kirby Puckett for the Twins’ franchise record. Minnesota has lost six straight and returns home from a 1-8 trip to play Baltimore Customized Houston Texans Jerseys , which has the worst record in the majors at 24-61. More good news for the scuffling Twins: Two-time All-Star Ervin Santana (right middle finger surgery) is scheduled to make his next rehab appearance for Class A Fort Myers.

The Chicago White Sox will go for their third win in a row when they host the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Chicago (27-51) is coming off a rain-soaked 8-4 victory over the Twins in the series opener Tuesday night. The game featured a long delay at the start but proved to be worthwhile for the White Sox, who tallied 12 hits and played error-free defense despite a sloppy surface.

Meanwhile, Minnesota (34-41) will look for a fresh start after losing for the fourth time in five games. The Twins are coming off a frustrating game in which they managed two extra-base hits — solo home runs by Brian Dozier and Ehire Adrianza — and made two errors in the field.

White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu will look to get on track after struggling through much of June. He is hitting .208 with two home runs and 14 RBIs in 24 games this month.

“It’s no secret that it has been a tough month for me for my offense,” Abreu said to The Athletic. “Probably the worst in my time here in the majors. …

“I’m just working hard. I’m just trying to get over it. We still have a few days left in this month, and maybe I can change how this month has gone for me.”

Twins right-hander Kyle Gibson (2-5, 3.25 ERA) will try to prevent that from happening. Gibson has been quietly effective this season despite his underwhelming record. The 30-year-old has limited opponents to two earned runs or fewer in each of his past five starts.

In 11 career starts against the White Sox Cheap Danny Shelton Jersey , Gibson boasts a 6-2 record with a 2.42 ERA. He has walked 14 and struck out 65 in 74 1/3 innings. He has faced the team once this season, drawing a no-decision after allowing three runs on four hits in 6 2/3 innings.

“We’re almost halfway through the season, and we’re not where we want to be,” Gibson said recently to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “We’ve got a little bit of urgency here. We’ve got a lot of goals we want to hit. … We’re not far off.”

Abreu is 6-for-28 versus Gibson.

Opposite Gibson, the White Sox will turn to right-hander James Shields (2-9, 4.59 ERA) to make his 17th start of the season. The 36-year-old enjoyed a recent highlight as he pitched at least six innings in 11 consecutive outings http://www.bearsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-roquan-smith-jersey , but that streak ended his last time out as he gave up eight runs (two earned) in 4 2/3 innings against the Oakland Athletics.

Shields is 8-10 with a 4.54 ERA in 26 career starts against the Twins. He has walked 63 and struck out 119 in 158 2/3 innings. This season has proved to be a struggle for Shields against Minnesota as he has given up 10 runs in 12 2/3 innings for a 7.11 ERA.

The White Sox are 15-26 at home this season; The Twins are 14-21 on the road.

Boston’s offense showed why it is one of the best in baseball.

Rafael Devers Ed Dickson Jersey Seahawks , Jackie Bradley Jr., and Xander Bogaerts all homered and the Boston Red Sox routed the Seattle Mariners 9-3 on Sunday.

”Today we did an outstanding job finishing the game and we got the W,” Red Sox manager Alex Cora said. ”We are a good team. We know how to play the game and we turn the page really quick.”

Devers’ 11th homer of the season capped a five-run, two-out rally in the third against Seattle starter Mike Leake (7-4).

”They were making it tough today,” Leake said. ”They weren’t giving me any breaks today.”

Andrew Benintendi and Bogaerts began Boston’s rally with a pair of singles. J.D. Martinez drew a nine pitch walk to load the bases before Mitch Moreland drove in two with a single to centerfield, his first hit of the series, and Devers followed with a blast off the Hit It Here Cafe in right field to give Boston a 5-0 lead.

”Anytime you can put up a five spot in the inning, you are happy with it,” Moreland said. ”That was a good inning for us.”

The Red Sox pulled away in the seventh against right-handed reliever Chasen Bradford Trent Murphy Jersey Bills , who gave up three runs and two homers while getting two outs.

Bradley Jr. sent Bradford’s first pitch over the centerfield wall for his fourth home run this season. Benintendi hit his third single of the game with one out before Bogaerts put Boston ahead 8-2 with a shot into the bullpen in left centerfield, his 12th of the season and fourth of the series.

Facing left-hander Roenis Elias in the eighth, Benintendi extended Boston’s lead to 9-2 with a sacrifice fly to center.

The Red Sox have hit three or more home runs 10 times this season, and are 36-7 when scoring five or more runs.

Boston starter Eduardo Rodriguez picked up his sixth straight win in as many starts, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out nine. Rodriguez (9-1) has allowed two or fewer runs in each of his starts during his winning streak, and the Red Sox are 13-1 in Rodriguez’s starts this season.

”It was really good,” Rodriguez said of his start. ”All of my pitches were working. It was really great.”

The Mariners loaded the bases with no outs for the heart of their order against Rodriguez in the fifth, but managed just one run. Jean Segura cut Seattle’s deficit to 5-2 with a fielder’s choice, but Seattle’s rally was cut short following back-to-back fly outs from Mitch Haniger and Nelson Cruz.

”He had to work for it that fifth inning but he limited the damage Jimmy Garoppolo Jersey ,” Cora said. ”. He did a good job. Good fastball. He was more aggressive in the strike zone.”

Cruz hit his 17th home run of the season in the fourth, sending a 3-2 fastball from Martinez 442 feet in to the upper deck in left field to trim Seattle’s deficit to 5-1. Cruz has homered five times in his last nine games.

In the eighth, Ryon Healy doubled down the left field line, scoring Cruz to make it 9-3.

The Red Sox improved to 18-5 in series finales, and have won five straight day games on the road.

TRAINER’S ROOM

Mariners: RHP Nick Vincent (groin) is scheduled to make a rehab start with Triple-A Tacoma on Monday, then make a rehab appearance with Double-A Arkansas on Wednesday before joining the Mariners during their three game series in Boston beginning Friday.

UP NEXT

Red Sox: Chris Sale (6-4, 2.75 ERA) takes the mound as the Red Sox continue their road trip against the Twins on Tuesday. Sale has allowed just one run in each of his last two starts and has nine starts this season allowing one or fewer earned runs.

Mariners: Marco Gonzales (7-3, 3.42) goes for his sixth win in as many starts when the Mariners begin a 10-game road trip against the Yankees on Tuesday. Gonzalez has allowed just six earned runs in his last six starts combined.

The New Orleans Saints have been ordered by an NFL arbitrator to pay more than $384,000 to a fired personal assistant to late team owner Tom Benson.

Documents obtained by The Associated Press show that the Saints were ordered to pay Rodney Henry $100 Danny Salazar Jersey ,000 plus interest for unpaid overtime and $94,300 plus for the violation of a clause in his employment contract stating he was entitled to a termination fee if anyone other than Benson himself fired Henry.

Arbitrator Harold Henderson also ordered the Saints to pay Henry’s attorneys’ fees of $190,000.

The Advocate newspaper first reported the ruling.

Henry’s initial lawsuit in November 2015 accused the Saints not only of failing to pay overtime, but also of firing him for complaining that Benson’s wife, Gayle, made racially insensitive comments about him. Henry, who is black, has not been awarded any damages for claims of racism.

Before the matter was referred to arbitration, which is not public Patriots Danny Shelton Jersey , the Saints denied all allegations. In a written statement in January 2016, the Saints said Tom and Gayle Benson, who are white, considered Henry ”part of their family,” and were disappointed by his allegations of discrimination.

Gayle Benson is now the sole owner of the Saints and NBA’s Pelicans, having inherited the clubs after her husband’s death last March.

Henry was Benson’s personal assistant dating back to the 1990s, serving in that role during two stints spanning close to 25 years.

The Saints could chose to appeal Henderson’s ruling in federal court, but have not announced any intention to do so.

Six NBA teams will host teams from Australia’s National Basketball League for 2018-19 preseason exhibition games.

The NBA and NBL announced the plans Tuesday for five Australian teams to visit the U.S. for games from Sept. 28-Oct. 5. It’s the second straight year the Australian league will send teams for games.

The Utah Jazz, featuring Australians Joe Ingles and Dante Exum, will host two of the games.

The other games:

-Utah hosts the Perth Wildcats on Sept. 29.

-The Phoenix Suns host the New Zealand Breakers on Oct. 3.

-Denver welcomes Perth on Oct. 5.

-Utah hosts the Adelaide 36ers on Oct. 5.

The Cleveland Browns are discussing long-term plans for a major downtown development project that could include major stadium renovations 鈥?or a new facility.

Owner Dee Haslam revealed to ESPN that the team has done some preliminary work by speaking to city officials and there has been positive feedback. She said any project could take 10 years to complete Vikings Elite Jerseys , and cautioned nothing has been decided.

"So I think it's really important to find out what's possible," she told ESPN. "There could be a lot of great ideas that we might not be able to do because it's not feasible for one reason or another. I don't want to get the horse in front of the cart until we're knowledgeable enough to know, because we're not informed enough to know right now. But we do know that we have a desire to make a bigger impact on the future of Cleveland."

As part of the process, the team is conducting an economic impact study with Cleveland State University. Haslam cited the development of the Gateway project Nick Markakis Jersey , which includes Progressive Field and Quicken Loans Arena, as an example of how some of the city's under-used areas could be better developed.

FirstEnergy Stadium, which was built before the Browns returned as an expansion team in 1999, shares space along Lake Erie with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Great Lakes Science Center. But much of the area near those facilities is either underdeveloped or not used.

Haslam said the Browns will complete their lease Authentic Jake Arrieta Jersey , which runs through 2029. The team recently finished a $125 million renovation, paying $95 million of the cost.

Haslam insisted any discussion about a new stadium would be premature, and that any decision on the long-term future should be made by taxpayers.

"I have no idea at this point what's even feasible," Haslam said. "Don't you think it's a good idea for us to learn and figure that out? I really do think that would be a decision by the people of Cleveland and the planners Buccaneers Ryan Jensen Jersey ," she said. "I think what we need to do is be part of the conversation."

Haslam recently stepped down as the CEO of RIVR Media to concentrate on the Browns fulltime.

Oakland Raiders offensive lineman Vadal Alexander has been suspended without pay for the first four games next season for a violation of the league policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

The Raiders made the announcement Tuesday Cheap Anthony Miller Jersey , attributing the information to the NFL. Alexander won’t be eligible to play until an Oct. 7 road game against the Chargers. He can return to practice Oct. 1, a day after the Raiders host Cleveland.

The 24-year-old offensive guard played in 15 games for Oakland last season with four starts and has appeared in 24 games overall with nine starts in two NFL seasons.

A seventh-round draft pick in 2016 out of LSU, Alexander can take part in offseason workouts with the team, preseason practices and preseason games.

During the first day of Bengals minicamp, the offense ran through new plays.

A day later, some of them were gone.

Offensive coordinator Bill Lazor decided they didn't look as good on the field as they did in his overhauled play book.

"You keep moving Roquan Smith Jersey Elite , keep evolving," Lazor said Wednesday before practice. "That's what we're in the process of doing."

Cincinnati's offense is a work in progress, a year after it finished last in the league for the first time in franchise history.

Lazor was elevated to interim coordinator after Ken Zampese was fired two games into the season. He's been retained and given discretion to redesign the playbook.

Players say the terminology and some of the play designs have changed significantly. Fans and the rest of the league won't start noticing the differences until the season begins. For now, the staff is trying to get the offense into a final form.

Lazor decided on a major overhaul after the Bengals' 7-9 finish, their second straight losing season. The offense was bad all-around, with Andy Dalton getting little time to throw and the running backs finding little room to run behind a struggling offense line.

"I don't know if we have enough time to talk about what didn't go the way we wanted Youth Los Angeles Chargers Jerseys ," Lazor said. "We've got to focus on the now."

One emphasis in minicamp is setting a standard for practice and encouraging players to hold each other accountable.

"We just keep putting it in front of them: This is our standard," Lazor said "This is what we want to establish and what we expect in practice, and continue to put it on the players to help hold each other accountable. To me, the greatest thing we've done as a group right now is set the standard."

Lazor has noticed a different atmosphere since the new playbook was installed.

"I think it got a lot of the players' attention, just got people going," he said.

SOCCER FEVER: Defensive end Carlos Dunlap was delighted to hear that North America won the bid to host the 2026 World Cup. Dunlap grew up playing soccer and basketball in South Carolina 鈥?his mother didn't allow him to become a football player until eighth grade 鈥?and he's attended FC Cincinnati games.

Dunlap is excited about the possibility of attending a World Cup game.

"I've tossed it around many times Jordan Howard Jersey , going over there to see World Cup because the energy they have at their games and stadiums is second to none 鈥?unless it's us against the Pittsburgh Steelers, or the Florida Gators against Georgia in the Cocktail Party," said Dunlap, who attended Florida. "It rivals those."

STILL NO EIFERT: Tight end Tyler Eifert missed a second straight day of practice because of an undisclosed injury. He wasn't available in the open locker room period, and coach Marvin Lewis declined to provide any specifics. Eifert was on the field in a jersey, but didn't have a helmet or participate in drills. Eifert signed an incentive-laden Authentic Donte Jackson Jersey , one-year deal after being limited to two games last season because of chronic back problems.

VANCOUVER Dolphins Jason Sanders Jersey , British Columbia — If any game ever fit the description of a trap game, this one does.

The Anaheim Ducks (39-24-13) will try to make their Pacific Division playoff hopes more secure Tuesday night as they visit the future-focused Vancouver Canucks (27-40-9). In other words, the Ducks will be trying to ensure that they do not become lackadaisical and allow the Canucks to play a part in spoiling their postseason aspirations.

In theory, the Ducks should not be overly worried. They have won five of their past six games.

“We’re sticking with it,” Ducks forward Adam Henrique told The Orange County Register in reference to the team’s work ethic. “It’s not always pretty but good teams find ways to get points and get wins. Right now, that’s all that really matters.”

He hopes the Ducks defense will continue its trend of providing offense. In their last game, defenseman Hampus Lindholm scored 1:21 into overtime to help the Ducks erase two third-period deficits to beat the Oilers 5-4 in Edmonton.

“As soon as our D start moving pucks, we help our forwards out a lot and I think that creates a lot of offense for us and that’s something we have to keep doing more,” Henrique told reporters.

The Ducks will also likely lean heavily on their strong goaltending. Starter John Gibson has posted five wins in his last six games and reached the 30-victory plateau Sunday. In case coach Randy Carlyle wants to give Gibson a rest, he will be comfortable with former Canuck Ryan Miller between the pipes.

The Ducks hope to end a strong road trip with a win over the woeful Canucks, who earned only their second win in the past 10 games when they beat the Stars by a convincing 4-1 count in Dallas on Sunday.

But the Canucks and their fans will likely be thinking more about the future and their fans after highly touted prospect Adam Gaudette signed a three-year National Hockey League entry contract with the club Monday following the completion of his college season with the Northeastern Huskies.

“Adam has had a remarkable season and college career playing at Northeastern Cheap Antonio Callaway Jersey ,” said Canucks general manager Jim Benning in a release. “He’s a very talented player and has shown an ability to score, make plays and contribute in all situations at the collegiate level. We’re excited to have him join our team and continue his development as a professional.”

It remains to be seen whether Gaudette, a 21-year-old Braintree, Mass., native will play Tuesday or later in the week. Gaudette was originally drafted by Vancouver in the fifth round, 149th overall in 2015.

Despite the late selection, he led the NCAA in scoring with 60 points (30-30-60) in 38 games with the Northeastern and is a finalist for the Hoby Baker award. He ranked first in the NCAA in goals (30), points per game (1.58) and power-play points (27). In addition, the 6-foot-1 and 184-pound center was named the 2018 Hockey East Player of the Year, the Beanpot tournament MVP and garnered several other monthly and weekly accolades.

In 116 career games for Northeastern from 2015 to 2018, Gaudette registered 142 points (68-74-142) — numbers that greatly appeal to the offensively challenged Canucks. The question now is whether he can produce at the NHL level. But former Northeastern linemate Dylan Sikura Cheap Paul Worrilow Jersey , a Chicago Blackhawks prospect, thinks he can.

“He’s a good team guy — every night you know what you’re getting from him,” Sikura told Postmedia. “It’s his passion for the game. He’s pretty uncanny, and I don’t think there are a lot of guys in the NCAA who like putting the puck in the back of the net like he does.

“Every night he brings the heat. He leads by example in the way he plays — a full 200-foot game, and he’ll block shots and do the little things to help the team out.”

Gaudette will be measured against injured Canucks rookie Brock Boeser, who exceled in nine games with Vancouver after signing out of college last spring and encroached 60 points this season before he was sidelined for the season with a back injury.

“(Gaudette) is an exciting young prospect for us,” Canucks coach Travis Green told Postmedia. “He plays with energy. He’s a guy we’re really excited to have.”

Green believes Boeser gained from playing with the Canucks late last season and thinks Gaudette can do likewise with the rebuilding squad late in this campaign.

“If you look at Brock, it’s an example of how any time you come to a new league, it’s an eye opener,” Green said. “Not only that, from our standpoint to get to see (Gaudette) would be a benefit.”

鈥?From efforts to launch a cat into Instagram fame to offers to unravel yarn for an art project Youth Fred Warner Jersey , people who aren’t part of the Super Bowl itself are using the game’s spotlight to promote their own ventures. One online ad offers $40 an hour to someone who will impersonate a shirtless Christian Grey, the protagonist from “Fifty Shades of Grey,” on Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis, the city where this year’s Super Bowl is being held. Another offers $13 hourly to someone who will walk back and forth and unravel yarn for an art project, according to Minnesota Public Radio News .One woman wants to hire someone for $30 an hour to hand out flyers promoting the Instagram account for her 20-pound cat. Elizabeth “Z” Townsend said she’s gotten 20 to 25 people interested in the job.“I’ve always wanted to gain recognition in a way and when I got Dumpling, he’s just the most beautiful cat and I knew that other people would like him as well. It brings people joy. It brings me joy to follow other cats and animals on Instagram,” Townsend said. The Super Bowl crowds offer so many opportunities for side hustles that one man is making a documentary about them. David Leach, of New York City, got the idea at last year’s Super Bowl in Houston. This year’s Super Bowl is Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium between the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles.“I was thinking, man, somebody has got to capture this. I mean Youth Jonathan Allen Jersey , there are so many different personalities that go to the host city just because of the amount of money that’s on the street,” he said. “I’ve never been to a place in my life where there’s more business transactions happening at every level.”Leach hired two Minnesota residents to help him navigate the state as he makes his movie, called “Hustler’s Holiday.”“It’s really an amazing time just for anybody that’s working in almost any capacity, whether it be a chef or a hotel manager or an Uber driver or a DJ or a person trying to promote their cat,” Leach said.Jackie Santrelle, 22, is hoping the Super Bowl could be her big break. She replied to a Craigslist ad seeking a Tina Turner impersonator, and was instead cast as Diana Ross for the “Tribute to Motown” show at the Minnesota Music Cafe.“It was amazing how the universe moves because I went in to do backgrounds and I came home Diana Ross,” Santrelle said.Information from: Minnesota Public Radio News, .
