Quarterback Colin Kaepernick and Texans defensive end J.J. Watt are among the five finalists for the NFL Players Association’s Byron ”Whizzer” White Award.

The award annually recognizes players for exceptional community service in their team cities and hometowns.

Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton Authentic Marcus Mariota Jersey , Eagles defensive end Chris Long and Broncos linebacker Von Miller are the other finalists.

The winner, who will receive $100,000 for his foundation or a charity of his choice, will be announced Feb. 1 at the NFLPA’s Super Bowl news conference.

The award is named after former NFL running back and Supreme Court Justice Byron Raymond ”Whizzer” White.

Kaepernick, a free agent, has spoken out on behalf of racial and social justice. He pledged $1 million to organizations working in underserved communities.

The quarterback earned the Week 1 NFLPA Community MVP after making his ninth $100,000 charitable donation to four charities and hosting a back-to-school giveaway in New York.

When Houston was devastated by Hurricane Harvey in August, Watt came to the city’s aid. His social media campaign generated more than $37 million in disaster relief.

Dalton and his wife provide financial assistance to families of seriously ill and physically challenged children through the Andy & Jordan Dalton Foundation.

Long, who will be going to his second consecutive Super Bowl, donated his entire 2017 salary to educational initiatives. He was selected the Week 2 NFLPA Community MVP for using six game checks to fund a scholarship program at his high school in Charlottesville Kailer Yamamoto Jersey , Virginia.

Miller has struggled with near-sightedness and donated 2,013 eyeglass frames to Denver youngsters through the Anchor Center for Blind Children and his Von’s Vision Foundation.

Kevin Hart laughed as he tried to floss dance with a kid as they were both egged on by rapper Meek Mill. Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie awkwardly waved his arms around the way any 60-something-year-old man would attempting to look hip next to star entertainers.

This postseason potpourri of comic, ex-con and champion unfolded on the sideline of another 76ers’ romp.

Mill, the Philadelphia-born rapper released from prison only hours earlier, snagged the Game 5 headlines.

Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid and the rest of the Sixers stole the show.

Embiid and Simmons shined again in front of Mill, and the dominant duo ushered the nightmares-into-dreams Process of the Philadelphia 76ers into the second round with a 104-91 win over the Miami Heat on Tuesday night.

The 76ers, winners of 10 games just two seasons ago, are in the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs for the first time since 2012. The Sixers won the series 4-1 and turned the Wells Fargo Center into the wildest house party in the city.

”I’ve been waiting for this moment,” Embiid said.

Embiid had 19 points and 12 rebounds Ryan Dzingel Jersey , Simmons had 14 points and 10 boards, and the entire team was energized by Mill’s surprise appearance. Mill made a dramatic return hours after Pennsylvania’s highest court ordered him freed while he appeals decade-old gun and drug convictions.

They await the winner of Milwaukee-Boston. The Celtics lead the series 3-2.

The Sixers are the latest team to sweep up the city in a sports euphoria that hasn’t died down since the Eagles beat the New England Patriots to win the Super Bowl.

Look around the arena, and the champs were all around.

Lurie was in the house and so were a handful of Eagles. The national champion Villanova Wildcats were feted during the game. The Wildcats posed with Mill in the locker room and then stopped for selfies on the way to the court for a brief celebration. The city has already thrown two championship parades this year – the 76ers have played like a team that could add one more.

”We all got a taste of it with the Eagles, we all got a taste of it with Villanova’s tremendous win,” coach Brett Brown said. ”You feel it with the city from afar.”

He added: ”Everybody is excited to be a part of, what I think, is playing out to be a cool story.”

Embiid, who came to personify the Process, had his second consecutive double-double and tallied 56 points, 31 rebounds and nine blocks in just three playoff games. Embiid again played in a black mask to guard a face injury Jakub Vrana Jersey , and he’ll have plenty of time to rest and recover with the other Eastern Conference playoff series expected to stretch into the weekend.

”We feel like we’re unstoppable and we can get whatever we want to,” Embiid said. ”That’s the goal and we’re going to do what it takes to get there.”

Here’s what else to know about the 76ers in the postseason.

MEEK FREE

This was no run-of-the-mill Game 5 victory for the Sixers. Mill was there just hours after being released from prison.

He was brought by helicopter to Philadelphia, where he rang the ceremonial bell to start the game. Mill sat courtside next to Hart and Sixers co-owner Michael Rubin.

Rubin had organized prison trips with Embiid, Simmons and Markelle Fultz to support Mill, and the rapper’s songs played in the locker room and during warmups.

”When he was in jail, I went to visit him. He wasn’t feeling good. You could tell,” Embiid said. ”For him to come to this type of game … I was just happy.”

DY-NO-MITE!!!

The 76ers caused a few eyes to roll around the league when they signed free-agent guard JJ Redick to a $23 million, one-year deal in the offseason. Redick was coming off a solid four-year run with the Clippers, but even by NBA standards, the Sixers appeared to overpay for the 3-point ace. Redick has been worth every dollar Womens C.J. Mosley Jersey , and he delivered again in Game 5. He made 5 of 10 3 pointers, all 10 free throws and scored a game-high 27 points.

It was the second time this postseason that Redick scored at least 27 points and the third time in his playoff career. He had consecutive 20-point games in the postseason for the first time in his career.

”We’ve changed our goals like four times,” Redick said. ”First, it was make the playoffs, then win 50 games, then getting home court, then getting the No. 3 seed.”

All four goals have been reached.

ROOKIE ROCKS IT

Simmons had 14 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the series. He is the first rookie to post at least four double-doubles in his first five postseason games since San Antonio’s Tim Duncan in 1997-98.

Simmons was a force against the Heat. He had 91 points, 53 rebounds and 45 assists in the series and showed why he’s the favorite to win the NBA rookie of the year.

”This is what I’m going to expect now,” Simmons said.

Quarterback Sam Darnold has reported to training camp.

The Jets posted a video of Darnold arriving at the team’s facility on Monday and saying that it is “a pleasure to be signed now.” That video came shortly after mutual reports that the third overall pick’s deal was done several days after the Jets opened up training camp.

Disagreements over offsets and language concerning voiding guarantees in the contract were said to be the holdup in getting Darnold in camp and on the practice field on time. The deal reportedly includes offset language Tyler Ennis Jersey , which would keep Darnold from double dipping on salary in the event that he doesn’t make it to the end of his contract with the Jets.

If that’s the case, the problems for both the Jets and Darnold will go further than who will pay for some portion of the $30.25 million he’s set to receive over the next four years. Now that Darnold is signed, he can start practicing in hopes of taking that potential outcome off the table.

Mike Singletary hopes to coach again in the NFL someday. He has plenty on his plate right now, though.

Singletary was at minicamp with the Detroit Lions on Thursday. He said he doesn’t know Lions coach Matt Patricia that well, but he wanted to be there to check out the video screens Detroit is using at practice.

Singletary was hired earlier this year to coach high school football at Trinity Christian Academy in Texas. He also has been hired as coach of the Memphis franchise in the Alliance of American Football, which will start playing in February.

Singletary has coached for three NFL teams Milan Lucic Jersey Kids , including a stint as San Francisco’s head coach. The 49ers went 18-22 under him from 2008-10. Singletary was asked if he thought he could get another opportunity like that.

”I hope so. But for me, I’m going to work where I’m planning,” he said. ”Very excited to be where I am, and if that happens, great. If not, then I’m going to keep working where I’m at.”

Singletary says he learned some lessons from his time coaching in the NFL.

”It’s a long list of things. I think more so than anything else is how much I needed to do – how much work I needed to do as a coach and being able to coach my coaches and have them help my players. … Just getting more information Ryan Nugent-Hopkins Jersey , just getting more grounding as a head coach.”

A star linebacker with the Chicago Bears, Singletary was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1998. He clearly still enjoys being involved in the sport.

”It’s such a great game, such a great game when you have the right people involved, when you have the right coaches and you’ve got good kids,” Singletary said. ”I think all kids are good kids. … You’ve got to know which ones you’ve got to manage, and the ones that help the others. But it’s just such a great game Carter Hutton Jersey , and so many life lessons, so very important game to me, in America.”

As for the video screens at practice, Patricia explained the purpose this week.

”You may have missed something on the field. You kind of look at it and see what happens. You see what went wrong on the play and can get that instant kind of correction to the player right away,” Patricia said. ”A lot of the times the players are trying to figure it out for themselves. So, they’ll see something and Womens Devante Smith-Pelly Jersey , `Hey, what happened right there?’ And they can look at it and reference it from that standpoint.”

Browns rookie running back Nick Chubb may be in his first days of training camp DeVante Parker Jersey , but he’s already been given a nickname.

”He’s `Old School,”’ running back Duke Johnson said prior to Friday’s practice as Chubb stood nearby. ”His helmet, his face mask. He doesn’t really wear gloves all the time. He’s in the wrong generation.”

Maybe. But Cleveland feels like a good fit.

The hard-running, but soft-spoken Chubb laughed off his new moniker.

”It’s just my helmet,” the second-round pick from Georgia said. ”It’s just a little bigger.”

His game seems oversized as well.

While the accuracy of Chubb’s nickname is up for debate amongst his teammates, one thing that is for sure is that Chubb has made an immediate impact on the Browns and Cleveland’s coaches in more ways than one.

Certainly, there’s his physical prowess on the field. Linebacker Christian Kirksey called the rookie a ”work horse.” Carlos Hyde, another of the new backs on Cleveland’s roster, called the 225-pounder a ”beast” and both said he has the ability to make a defender miss after making just one cut.

But along with his physical abilities, Chubb, selected with the No. 35 pick in this year’s draft Derrick Thomas Jersey , has also impressed with his willingness to master the mental side of the game in a way that most first-year players don’t always understand.

”I don’t really feel like he’s a rookie,” Hyde said. ”Usually, rookies come in and be all kind of lost, just trying to feel their way out. I think Nick understands what’s going on. He understands what being a pro is, and he’s definitely been on top of the playbook, been on top of his game, so he’s been doing a pretty good job.”

Early on, Chubb is at the very least giving the Browns, looking to shake off a 0-16 season, options. Coach Hue Jackson said that given the makeup of the team, he believes the Browns will be able to run the ball more than in the previous two years. It’s possible that Jackson will use a three-headed attack with Johnson Justin Hardy Jersey , Hyde and Chubb sharing the workload.

Chubb is no stranger to a rotation system – it’s something he did last season with the Bulldogs as he shared playing time and carries with former teammate Sonny Michel, now a rookie with the New England Patriots. Chubb said the two divided the workload play by play or series by series, and played every game together.

In the process, both players racked up big yards. Chubb rushed for 1,345 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2017 while Michele went for 1,227 yards and 16 TDs. Ultimately, it was a system that helped catapult the Bulldogs to the national title game.

It also bonded Chubb and Michel.

”Me and Sony are very good friends,” Chubb said. ”We both had success. We both got drafted fairly high. To do that with someone who you started in college with, and lived with four years and did everything with, I don’t think it could get any better than that.”

The Browns hope it can.

If they decide to rotate backs, Chubb is confident they can find success.

”Good competition brings more out of you Danny Amendola Jersey ,” he said. ”I look forward to competing with these guys and learning from them and eventually playing with and winning some games with them.”

Chubb has shown the Browns plenty so far, and Jackson believes there’s still a lot of potential in his game.

”Old School” has more to offer than a catchy nickname.

”I think there’s a lot to him, more so than what people think,” Jackson said. ”He just looks like the guy that comes downhill, and here we go. But he has some versatility to him as well. There’s some instincts, real runners’ instincts that I see. I think he’s a really talented runner.

”We’re going to find out more about him when these pads come on.”

The New York Giants have re-signed defensive end Kerry Wynn and added three other free agents, including a wide receiver who has returned kickoffs.

The Giants announced the moves Monday with the newcomers being receiver Cody Latimer, defensive end Josh Mauro and cornerback B.W. Webb.

Wynn has played in 49 regular-season games with 10 starts since making the team as a free agent out of Richmond in 2014. He has 91 tackles, three sacks, three fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. Last season, he played in 15 games with three starts.

Latimer played his first four seasons for the Denver Broncos Joshua Garnett Jersey , appearing in 45 regular-season games with three starts. He had 35 receptions for 445 yards and three touchdowns. Latimer also averaged 24.4 yards on 18 kickoff returns. He finished with a career-high 19 receptions for 287 yards and two touchdowns in 2017.

Mauro is being reunited with defensive coordinator James Bettcher. He played his four seasons for the Arizona Cardinals, the past three under Bettcher.

Undrafted coming out of Stanford, Mauro played in 47 games with 26 starts for the Cardinals. He had 92 tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He started seven of the 13 games last season.

Webb did not play in a regular-season game last season. He was on the Cleveland Browns' roster for one game in December but was inactive.

A fourth-round draft pick out of William & Mary in 2013, Webb had played with Dallas, Pittsburgh, Tennessee and New Orleans.

Nashville will host the 2019 NFL Draft Rod Smith Jersey , but where?

City officials, the Titans and the NFL still are discussing the site. City officials want to use the stage at Ascend Amphitheater, an outdoor venue.

鈥淥ur pitch, my preference is Ascend Amphitheater,鈥?Butch Spyridon Quenton Nelson Jersey , CEO of the city鈥檚 convention and visitors bureau, said via Paul Kuharsky of paulkuharsky.com. “It鈥檚 the money shot for the city — a music venue with the skyline behind you.鈥?/p>

Spyridon said the size of the venue “seems to be the only real issue” the NFL has with the idea.

Philadelphia had only 2,000 seats two years ago when it hosted the draft but drew 250,000 to the three-day outdoor event. AT&T Stadium had seating for 25,000 this year and had a capacity of 108 Lerentee McCray Jersey ,000 for the Draft Experience outside the stadium.

Ascend Amphitheater has room for 6,800 with 2,300 fixed seats and seating for 4,500 on the lawn.

Team representatives would sit at tables outside Ascend, and the city could create additional room by closing a lane of the Korean Veterans Bridge behind the venue.

Another Chargers tight end has been lost for the year to a torn ACL.

Chargers coach Anthony Lynn announced on Sunday Gale Sayers Jersey , via Eric Williams of ESPN.com, that undrafted rookie Austin Roberts tore his ACL during Saturday’s practice. That’s the same injury that Hunter Henry suffered while working out in the offseason and the Chargers also lost cornerback Jason Verrett to a torn Achilles since players reported for camp last week.

Roberts, whose father Alfredo was an NFL tight end, caught 35 passes for 500 yards and three touchdowns during his time at UCLA. Virgil Green, Braedon Bowman Josey Jewell Jersey , Sean Culkin, Cole Hunt and Ben Johnson are the remaining tight ends on the Chargers roster.

That group could change if the team strikes a deal for Antonio Gates to return for another season. Gates’ agent Tom Condon said last week that the two sides are talking about a contract.

Browns defensive end Myles Garrett still is hunting Ben Roethlisberger Tony Romo Jersey , whom he didn’t face his rookie season after saying he couldn’t wait to meet the Steelers quarterback and “chop him down.”

Garrett is trolling Roethlisberger again in a hilarious video produced by the Browns. The video, which was posted on social media Thursday by the team, has nearly a million views on Twitter.

Garrett, Tyrod Taylor, Jarvis Landry, Duke Johnson, Christian Kirksey and six other players make cameos in a parody of the intro to the classic NBC sitcom The Office. Garrett, dressed as the Dwight Schrute character from the show, shreds a picture of Roethlisberger in the minute-long video.

Shortly after the Browns selected Garrett with the No. 1 overall pick in 2017, he began talking tough about wanting to sack Roethlisberger. The quarterback played along last offseason, but the two have yet to meet on the field.

Garrett missed the first four games last season with a high ankle sprain Jourdan Lewis Jersey , which included the season opener against the Steelers, and Roethlisberger sat out the regular-season finale as a precaution for the playoffs.

The teams open the regular season September 9 at FirstEnergy Stadium.

鈥淥h, thank God,鈥?Garrett said in May during the team鈥檚 golf outing, via Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal. The defensive end added he 鈥渁bsolutely鈥?plans to take down Roethlisberger.

The wide receiver position in fantasy football has been one of the more hotly debated topics in recent seasons. The depth at receiver and amount of consistent scoring led to the advent of the "zero running back" draft strategy.

Utilizing that approach, you would refrain from selecting a running back in the early stages of your draft while loading up on the upper tier of receivers to bolster your roster. What we have seen recently in the NFL is more teams starting to employ balanced and traditional run-based attacks. This change in philosophy has thrown a wrench into fantasy drafts regarding wideouts. As we head into 2018, drafts are once again very running back heavy early on, pushing receivers that we are used to seeing in the first round back into the second round and beyond.

The top tier of WRs is made up of the very elite. Antonio Brown (Pittsburgh) could be considered in a class all his own, but inside this superstar group you also have players such as Houston's DeAndre Hopkins and Odell Beckham Jr. of the Giants. Brown has led receivers in scoring the last several seasons by a wide margin, but Hopkins and Beckham are two that could close the gap and have first round draft value.

The next grouping is made up of players that will likely be taken during the second round of drafts. Players like Michael Thomas (New Orleans) and Keenan Allen (Chargers) provide solid floors but have the intrigue of an insanely high ceiling as well. Atlanta's Julio Jones and Cincinnati's A.J. Green are stars from previous seasons, but is their time beginning to come to an end? Possibly Kyle Long Jersey , but they are still safe enough bets to bring you WR1 production. Davante Adams of Green Bay is the wild card among this group. Playing with Aaron Rodgers vaults his value and the touchdown production is there.

From Mike Evans (Tampa Bay) down to Golden Tate (Detroit), you'll find players in the next range during Rounds 3 and 4 that can give you a mix of points-per-reception (PPR) league value as well as touchdown scoring in standard leagues. T.Y. Hilton of Indianapolis and Denver's Demaryius Thomas find themselves back in this conversation as their quarterback situations have greatly improved from a year ago. Vikings receivers Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs could have even better years in 2018 with the arrival of Kirk Cousins.

You have injury concerns with players like Allen Robinson (Chicago) and Alshon Jeffrey (Philadelphia). Players like Browns wideout Jarvis Landry, Rams receiver Brandin Cooks and Baltimore's Michael Crabtree find themselves in new homes in hopes of making a significant fantasy impact. The potential is there for each of them, but they could struggle at times. Players in this grouping are being drafted between Rounds 5 and 6, a point where you certainly need the value but you can also swing for a bit of upside as well.

In the next tier, you start to see players that will be flex options or even matchup plays in given weeks. You have the upside of players like Corey Davis (Tennessee), Chris Hogan (New England) and Sammy Watkins (Kansas City). But even those receivers come with questions and concerns. Can they avoid the inconsistencies that have plagued them in previous seasons? Other players in this group have been disappointments. Those names include Randall Cobb (Green Bay), Devin Funchess (Carolina) and DeVante Parker (Miami). With WRs in this range, just know there will be weeks of poor play. But they can also give you matchup-winning performances if started in the right scenario.

Sterling Shepard of the Giants, Miami's Kenny Stills and Buffalo's Kelvin Benjamin are players that can provide safe floors in production but rarely have huge games that get you excited to put them in your lineups. Will Fuller of Houston and Nelson Agholor of Philadelphia are complete wild cards. They can both have big games or disappear for weeks at a time. Jordy Nelson (Oakland), Allen Hurns (Dallas) and Marqise Lee (Jacksonville) are players that don't jump off the page. They could be worthy of flex consideration but most likely they will be bench guys for you with matchup plays in mind.

As you get into the double digit rounds Star Lotulelei Jersey , you can find the player that is getting undervalued that hits and becomes a weekly staple for you, leading to wins. You will start to see the rookies really come off the board later with a lot of talk surrounding WRs like Anthony Miller of Chicago, Denver's Courtland Sutton and Pittsburgh's James Washington in the preseason. The hype surrounding these rookies will greatly affect their average draft position, so if you like the player be prepared to jump earlier than usual.

The names you will see as you finish your draft off won't give you that tingly feeling, but they will be quality receivers that can provide depth on your bench. Some may catch fire and find themselves firmly implanted in your lineup rotation, others could fall flat. The good thing is that you don't waste much value in these later rounds, making these receivers expendable if they aren't up to par.

Ultimately, you may keep hearing about how the wide receiver position is deep. Don't buy into that. This position is very top-heavy with upper echelon players and can quickly fall off as you go through your draft. The best fantasy owner is one that isn't fazed by curve balls being thrown their way during a draft. They are fully prepared for what comes, either good or bad.
