The Buccaneers may not have quarterback Jameis Winston for the first three games of the season. And it may not matter very much.

The Bucs open with games at the Saints , at home against the Eagles, and at home against the Steelers, on a Monday night. Even with Winston Jamaal Williams Jersey , the Bucs may be staring at an 0-3 start. Without him, an outcome of no wins in three weeks becomes even more likely.

The fact that the Week Three game falls on a Monday will give him one less day to get ready for Week Four, at Chicago. That could make it much harder to avoid a Week Four loss Authentic Ito Smith Jersey , and it could make the team more tempted to give him a fourth game off, especially if Ryan Fitzpatrick is playing well — and especially since the bye comes in Week Five.

So the start of the season could end up being an awkward and futile one for the Bucs. And if they lose the first three games, their margin for error will shrink considerably , especially in a division that sent three teams to the playoffs in 2017.

It also will increase the pressure on coach Dirk Koetter and G.M. Jason Licht, either or both of whom could be entering make-or-break seasons. If the first three games break against them, the end may be coming sooner than later.

When word that the Bengals were going to release safety George Iloka broke on Sunday , it was natural to start thinking about where the five-year starter in the Cincinnati secondary might wind up next.

One team that came immediately to mind was the Raiders. Their defensive coordinator Paul Guenther had the same job in Cincinnati from 2014-2017, so he’s very familiar with Iloka and what he can do on the field.

Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that the Raiders will indeed make a run at signing Iloka and adding him to their secondary. Gehlken adds that finances will “dictate” whether or not a match will be made.

Guenther’s predecessor in Cincinnati was current Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer and the Vikings showed interest in signing Iloka as a free agent in 2016 before he re-signed with the Bengals. Harrison Smith and Andrew Sendejo are set to be the starting safeties in Minnesota and there’s been no word of renewed interest in Iloka since his release.
